Anyone loose somethin in 6A?
CouseforLife replied to coueschaser3's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
LOL I lost a black Motorola can't remember the name of it about 8 years ago North of 260 while packing out my brothers WT. If it is that old you can keep it. Its been snowed on so many times it would not work if you tried. It was one of the first flip style phones. Maybe longer than 8 years ago. -

I am sure Red Rabbit gave you some good info. Rarrick and Mulligan does contain WT but not alot. In fact I have not glassed that in a few years. Beaver Creek and Clear Creek Canyons will be much more suited for seeing deer.

I say low to mid 90's. I would be surprised if was over 100 even by an 1/8th. Nice buck for sure!!

I order all my gun parts from www.brownells.com if you call them they have great customer service and let you know bases you need and rings. They are very helpful and know their business well. It is usually cheaper than I can find it local and service I get from them is better than any local shop I have experienced.

I have ordered a ton of stuff from them. I do not win either !! But they do gie great service and their prices are very hard to beat. Shipping is extra quick also. I ordered a new tripod adapter last week and received it two days later. Can't beat that from East to West shipping.

I hunted 29 about 5 times with the last being in 2005. We hunted in Rucker and while there was some people there, the spots we hunted we did not run across another hunter. We saw a ton a deer and with 6 tags in camp everyone tagged with the biggest being 95. I consistently saw 80 inch plus bucks. My biggest from there 85. Access is diffacult on the Rucker side and the Public Access area that Amanda described is where we saw everyone else going. We just hunted the USFS stuff. Not alot of camping options on this side unless you get there early.

I was the prankee on this one but I have a good sense of humor and laugh with them everytime its brought up. During a one of my first Couse hunts I was with four other guys. I believe I was 21 or 22 at the time. I have brought a bottle of blackberry brandy. Its a family tradition to take a swig after your kill. Well after a pretty good pack back to camp with the deer, while I was skinning they replaced my brandy with NyQuil. I opened the bottle and took a huge swig. Not realizing until after I swallowed what had happened. I then threw up because I cannot stand the taste of NyQuil. They were rolling for 30 minutes and so was I after my stomach stopped kicking me.

I could not live myself if it was suffering. I would call the local G&F officer and explain it and even ask him to accompany me if he wished. But I would not let it suffer even if that meant getting a citation. I would explain it the judge and hopefully it get thrown out. If the G&F Commission wants to suspend my priveleages for my humane and morally correct actions, then I think we need to rethink and do something about how G&F Commission rules work. Just my opinion. Suffering I mean after it was left overnight. I totally agree with leaving overnight but after 12 hours or so if it has not died and needs to be dispatched, that is my definition of the suffering. Letting it continue to try and die throughout the day and not being able to dispatch it is unethical IMO. We as sportsman have an obligation to make the death as swift as we can and do all we can to eliminate the suffering.

Lucky first Couse scored 98 6/8 and was a 4x4. However when I killed him he was a 3x3. His first points were busted at the main beam and guessed them at 5 inches each which would put him at 108. Killed him on opening morning 1994 with my 22-250 as I remember at about 250 yards in Unit 21. My second biggest is a 93 inch two point out of 6A in 1998 with the same 22-250. I will have to take some digitals I guess and post them. My first buck was all scarred up from fighting and had two punctures in his chest that were several inches deep. He had several more in his butt. We hunted for the buck that beat this one up the rest of the hunt and never could find him. When I post the pics you can see on the cape where all the scars are.

I grew up with Pat from Verde Valley Taxidermy and have always used him, he does nice work. IMO.

What weird stuff have you glassed or happen well glassing for game?
CouseforLife replied to seek100plus's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
You guys have seen some neat stuff. About 3 years ago we were hunting 29 and were glassing in a canyon when two A-10 jets came through we stodd up a waived. One of the pilots saw us and did three more fly overs tipping his wings. That was cool. About 8 years ago hunting in 6A we watched another hunter pick his nose for about 30 minutes straight. We still laugh about that evertime we go to that spot glassing. -

I dont have any media contacts and no direct knowledge other than whats been posted here, but maybe somoene get a hold of the TV stations or Associated Press ( I know they can feed the story to all that need it) Just a thought, maybe its been done already I do not watch a lot of TV. -
Josh now I really need to follow you and find out where you put cameras. Following you around is going to be a full time job, shed hunting and now Couse. Your killin me!!! Seriously though, nice buck!!!

I would second the Remington Core Lokts if your going factory. I use 130 grain sciroccos in my 270 WSM and love the accuracy. I am getting the best results from Reloader 19 powder on a Fed 215 primer. Couse are pretty thin skinned as far as big game goes so the Fusions, SST, Accubonds etc will work just fine. I do not advocate ballistic tips for anything but varmits. I am torn this year to try some 140 Accubonds because they will perform better in the wind.

I have been using Bushnell and I have a couple Alaskan Guide scopes that as far as I can tell are just as good as Leupold or Zeiss and they were about $200 cheaper. I think the only advantage to buying Leupold is the warranty and service. You need to ask yourself if the extra $200 is worth it. If it is then do it. I personally have never broke a scope. Not to say it won't happen but if it does, I have gotten my monies worth out of the ones I do have. I like mil dots myself in the reticle and practice at different ranges with them. Charts, graphs, and programs are a good starting place but actually shooting at those different ranges will tell you the whole story. Especially if you reload.
-
Exactly how I do it. I center my scope first (windage and elevation nobs centered) then move the rear scope base for windage. For elvation if its way off I shim it in front or back but rarely is it going to be that far off. Only if it is feet off the target. At 25 yards I am usually within 6 inches. It is very easy to do.

I also enjoy December hunts because of the cooler weather and I hate hunting when you have to hurry to get the hide off so it won't spoil. I have been out with other people on the early hunts and we saw deer. I see much more deer in the Dec hunts and hardly ever run across another hunter, unless it is someone I know. I have spotted some nice ones in early November and had them stay but mostly not. From what I have seen if there are quite a bit of does around, they will stick around in the general area. As for not rutting in Dec. at least in my expirence in 6A and 21 they seldom do before Christmas but after almost everyyear. That last week is usually when they get going. But that depends on the weather also. If we get a snow or good cold storm right around Christmas, man they get fired up. I love it when their necks look like they are on steroids. Reminds me of the Sat night skits with Hans and Frans. LOL!!!

6A December hunt for me. I heard that G&F received a lot of bounced checks this year and thats why it took a little longer. I always to a money order just in case.

Your suppose to bring that stuff first. Everything else is secondary, unless its food and beer!!

I saw him and someone looking at it but don't talk to them much. They are kind of hermits, never see them outside hardly. It looked nice and I thought maybe he had shot it, I think it had a skull plate on it. Maybe he found it. Glad you findly figured out who was harassing you here!!!

Josh, you have me confused with someone else. I guess I should tell you that I live accross the street and everytime your son comes over he either loses a truck or parts to it in my yard. The only nice horns I have found ever was about 5 years ago at the top of Beaver Creek. It was acutally an archery kill about 6 months old. Head still attached. I had it in Pat's shop for awhile and eventually sold it. It scored about 330. It is another subject but we found the expandable broadhead in the ribes not expanded. You need another hint: I drive a red truck!!!
-
With my luck I would reach in to Josh's truck to get them and he would have it wired so his Poo Truck releases about the same time. I never thought of the GPS. So next time I will steal the GPS and leave the maps!!!!

Your making me jealous. I have been putting in for antelope for over 12 years and have yet to get a tag!!!!!
