We just did one on a Tikka. Proof Prefit we had Todd South install for us. Thing is an absolute tack driver. My son is hitting a 10" gong at 1000 yds. Just shot his 1st Bull at 628...double lunger. Didn't go 10ft........great round.

Tikka actions are 1 length. Change the bolt stop and magazine and it goes from Short to Long. My understanding is that you can't build a super long COAL like a 300RUM without making it a single round feed, but anything that fits a Std Long Action should work as a Magazine Fed Rifle.

My dad is going to do the backing plate, but my son just got his first bull and is looking at someone local to Boil/Clean/Whiten the skull and do a good job on it so it lasts. Any recommendations? Grand Canyon's Euro guy quit so they are not doing those now...he was the first option. Thanks in advance.

    Glass Bedding Stocks?

A good stock probably doesn't need bedding, though it is a comfort to most people to know they did everything they could to make their rifle as accurate as possible. I hear McMillan now tells people NOT to bed their stocks ... if I recall correctly. But if you do bed it, I'd pillar it as well. Bedding without pillaring never made a whole lot of sense to me.
  11. Your best bet is not to ask everyone for what unit is best. You best bet is the use the AZGFD as a resource and read the unit reports. There are Coues in a lot of units around the state. Some units have a high population, some low. Big bucks will be elusive as heck for a newbie. Best advice is review the game reports and get REALLY GOOD glass and get REALLY COMFORTABLE glassing.

  16. Anyone have a recommendation for a Specialist? The guy I used to use is more an absentee Owner now and had a whack at it...$800 later I have the same REDUCED ENGINE POWER intermittent problem on my Chevy 3500. Code is a Low Voltage Code on Secondary Fuel Pump/Throttle Body/TPS. I have replace the TB and TPS along with the harness. Heat shielded the harness. Etc. Need someone GOOD. Don't care what part of town, though I am near Wickenberg, so West Side is easier. Going to stab at replacing the Fuel Pump...but I don't think that is it. Needs a sending unit so I figured may as well...but I need someone who is nails at electrical/computer Gremlins. Thanks in advance.

    Camping etiquette ( what's wrong with people ? )

People have just become AHoles. I have never had an experience of that particular nature, but I have had guys roll up on me hunting and try to "claim" a spot was theirs because they "had a tree stand in the area". I just remind them that the forest is 1st come 1st served, and that if they want the spot they need to be there before anyone else. I also remind them that things "left in the forest" are "abandoned" and fair game for removal (though I myself would never do that). Sounds to me like that guy was in need of an "attitude ajustment". Wonder how he would have responded to you casually dialing 911 to report "threatening and menacing".
