The first and last one's are the best ... and they hit the nail on the head. One of the biggest problems our country faces today is "career politicians" and their courtship with lobbyists. Can someone tell me why the heck foreign governments should have the right to lobby for laws favorable to them??? The time is long past for sweeping changes in how our elected officials conduct themselves. It is up to us to hold them to the standards our Founding Fathers set.

How is this NOT a case of assault on a minor. How is it that local law enforcement did not IMMEDIATELY ARREST all parties involve, including the administrators at the school? Why the heck would it be necessary to pass a law to punish these people??? Surely there are laws in the books that prevent this sort of thing. I don't care if it is a special needs kid, financially challenged kid, a middle class regular joe kid, or a filthy rich blue-blood kid .... no one should be able to abuse a kid. Any law that exists that ALLOWS this kind of thing to happen to a child is the same law that allows anyone involved in any such abuse to be beaten unmercifully ... to heck with "turning the other cheek". For these pr+cks I like "an eye for an eye".

Welcome to the site, and good luck on your hunts this year. As far as glass goes, a guy had a pair of 15x58ED Minox on the Classifieds for about $550 or so. Good glass for the money. I have a pair, and they are very good. If you research them on this site, most guys who have them have been happy with everything but the weight ... they are a bit on the heavy sides. I'd try to get a little closer than 60yds on a Coues Deer for Archery ... that is just a personal thing. They are really small deer with a small vital zone, and shooting a bow in the field is a lot different than shooting at the range. I've shot successfully on a range to over 100 yards with my compound, but I won't take a shot in the field unless I can get to around 40 or 45yds, and even then if I can get closer I'd prefer it. Again, it is a personal preference, but I'm really big on high percentage shots when you can get them. Again ... welcome, and good luck. Hunting in AZ is a tough endeavor, but rewarding.

Anyone on here have experience with these? Are they as good as they claim? Was going to go Hart or Lilja, but then stumbled across information on these and it's got me curious. Any help would be great. Thanks.

That is one sweet looking rifle.

Well ... after all that, I went totally different. I read about 50 different opinions on Brux Barrels ... all glowingly positive. Single point cut rifled. Stainless steel. I am sure all of the other ones I've been considering are as good, but after reading absolutely no negatives, I figured "why not". Besides that, it was IN STOCK ... never been known for my patience when waiting for parts. Got a .284/7MM barrel in #3 Contour/1 in 9" twist that will be chambered in .280AI (Nosler SAAMI version for simplicity of brass). It will be either 24 or 26" long ... haven't decided yet. I will be doing a .338 EDGE in the next year on a Winchester Classic Action (currently chambered in .300 RUM). When I do that one, I will be ordering a Schneider long in advance ... already made that decision.

Bought this for my kids a couple years back. Very few rounds through any of the barrels. Came with .22LR, .243 Winchester and 20 Gauge. Black on black. $225 OBO. I can take pictures if you need to see some, but just as easy to check it out online. If it has any wear spots or anything, they would be minor ... like I said ... barely used.

Okay ... I called Schneider today and ASKED for Gary. He was out so I said I'd call back. I did, and Gary answered. All I can say is the guy is a GREAT GUY. Spent 20 minutes or so talking to me about his barrels, their history, how he came up with the P5, and who is now using it. Turns out, the P5 is NOT a true polygonal barrel (ala H&K / Glock / Etc) like I thought it was. Instead, it is very similar to the Obemeyer 5R, but with added radiuses that make it even more "slick". He said that 80% of his business is now P5, though he will rifle a barrel with standard lands and grooves too. Now that I have talked to him, I am a little more comfortable pulling the trigger (pun intended) on his P5. Only catch is that he's 8 or so weeks ... still better than Broughton, but not as good as the Lilja 9 twist 3 groove that is ready to ship out the door. Makes decisions tough. Sure did like the guy, and liked that he's local.

I prefer M A T H E W S .... smooth, fast and whisper quiet. There are tons of good bows on the market ... shoot a bunch and buy what YOU like. Don't let someone else tell you what is right for you. Few years back I went to Archery headquarters and was sold on Bowtech from all the press and from word of mouth. Guy there said I should shoot several, which I did. When I was done, the choice was clear to me FOR ME. Someone else may have made a different choice.

Looking for a new Muzzleloader
sjvcon replied to FOGGER's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
How true is that??? The real purist is the guy who jumps his prey at a waterhole and drowns it!!!! Count me out on that one ... don't want my butt kicked by a cottontail rabbit :D -
Been meaning to try those. That good? I agree. Brakes are great tamers of recoil when you need them.
-
I shoot everything from .223 to .300 RUM to 12 gauge slugs. Only time it gets tiresome is at the range, where I use brakes and/or a Lead Sled on bigger stuff. In the field, I feel nothing ... adrenaline is such a great painkiller. The. 300 RUM is nothing to shoot when you have a critters in your scope. I'd suspect the WBY is similar.

Traditionally speaking, Curtis is correct. For a purist, inlines are cheating. I see that. That said I have a Bone Collector and it is awesome. Kick is relative ... but I liken it with 100 grains of Triple 7 and 250s to a 30-30. Then again, I am not overly recoil sensitive. -
Don't guess it gets much better than that on accuracy if that is common for those barrels. Other friends with these getting similar results azgutpile? How about other CWT members with Schneider's? Like the idea of supporting a local guy for sure...just want to be "right".
-
Schneider is an option too. Has a VERY short turn around (5 weeks to Broughton's 12), but I have some questions about the polygonal rifling. I've read some good, and some bad. Was not overly keen on the response to my questions from the guy I spoke to at the Schneider shop either ... was not Gary ... someone else. Anyone else have a Schneider??? Thoughts? I don't want to rebarrel this thing again until its shot out.

i would second this, unless you like to wound animals. I am sure there are many out there who would say a .243 is plenty of gun for elk, and that this guy or that guy they know took an elk with a .22-250, etc., etc., etc. Let's talk reality. Kids are not generally crack shooters, so hitting vitals is not necessarily guaranteed. With a .243, you better hit vitals on an elk. If you don't, you may wing 'em enough that they run off and die unrecovered. That is no good. Ethics dictates that you use enough gun for the game, and that you use enough that a good, ethical shot will take the game down and provide a clean kill (yeah ... I know ... you could hit a squirrel with a .338 Win Mag and not kill them every time ... but MOST of the time you would). This includes evaluating the shooter's capabilities. When I was buying for my boys, smallest I looked at was 7-08, which many resources (including one from AZGFD) listed as a dead minimum for cow elk. This year, they were drawn for bull elk (which the 7-08 was not listed for) ... the 7-08's are staying home in favor of a .280AI and a brake'd .30-06. With those, we will have enough energy at "reasonable distances" to provide for a clean kill. My suggestion is to either get a deer gun for now (.243) and forget elk (you could just put in for bonus points for the time being), or get a gun she can grow into and get a good brake installed. Brakes aren't an issue at the range where hearing protection is required, but take ear plugs when you hunt unless you want to learn sign language!!! That is just my two coins worth ... go ahead folks ... let me have it ... I know it's coming ... someone out there loves a .243 for White Rhino and anything smaller ...

Yep. This is the way I remember it. Two years back my dad transferred his bull tag to my oldest son (minor). Went to AZGFD and they re-issued the tag with his name. My dad did not go, as he had to transfer due to an injury that prevented him from hiking. GFD said that as long as he was with a parent or guardian that was fine.

Remington 700 BDL Question
sjvcon replied to ready2hunt's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
6A has some great areas and great bulls. Watch your travel though...my understanding is that Coconino is not ATV friendly any more. +1 on synthetic ... good prices can be found. -
