Saw one that that hanging in a tree on a youth hunt about three years ago. Was an awesome sight. We knew straight away it was a hybrid ... really thick and large body with all the attributes of a Coues.

Couple of thoughts on this. Bear spray is probably your best defense against an angry bear ... that and a handgun for backup in case the bear shakes off the spray (which is not common). FMJ's will penetrate better than a hollow point, but the damage from an FMJ is much more limited. Your best bet is soft points that will expand slower than a HP, will penetrate deep, but will still open up and cause a fatal wound channel. Final thought ... don't use bear spray on the two legged vermin. They will sue you, and you will lose big. There are better ways to deal with that vermin than spray.

Anyone know anything about this bow or bow company. ArcheryTalk guys seem to love it ... favorable comparisons to Mathews Monster and Bowtech Insanity CPX. Just wondering if any local guys have shot one and what they think??? I am thinking hard on getting one.

Doug with Cameralandny.com is very helpful. They sell Vortex, and that is probably the best bang for the buck. Swaro's are the best, but out of your price range. Zeiss is right up there ... also out of your price range unless you find a pair on sale at Sportsman's that is 2-3 years discontinued. The only other thing I would look at in your pricepoint would be the Nikon Monarch 5. If you can bump your price up a little the Monarch 7. When I compared the 7's with the Viper HD's, the 7's were definitely brighter, sharper and had more vibrant colors. All that said, I ended up picking Razor HD's over Conquest HD's, but I had about $1200 budgeted.

There are plenty of people who are awake. Just not enough that actually cast votes and make a difference. I think it is pretty clear that it is not just the Dems who suck ... there aren't many vocal Conservatives in office ... and there are a bunch of D-Bags like McLame in there that are screwing things up just as bad as Obama and his crew.

You should tell Hoyt that you want a new bow or a refund. Also, next time you want a Hoyt, go the Archery Headquarters. They are fantastic guys, do a great job servicing bows, and it is still a local business. I'd have bought my new Obsession Knightmare there if they carried them. Had to order one from a guy on AT.

FWIW, the .22-250 is a real tack driver ... at least the T3 Super Lite my son has is. I am sure the performance of the base model is similar. We didn't pay that much for the T3 SL ... mid $600's I think. Was well worth the money.

13A is a great unit, but your success will definitely be somewhat dependent on the weather. One year up there was very hot when I hunted, and we knew the deer were there, but we never saw anything but doe during the daylight hours until the last day or so. Then the bucks I saw were mostly younger guys that needed some more years of growth. The only giant I saw was near dark, and I never got a clear shot at him. The second time I got the tag, the weather was much colder. It was a much better hunt. In a unit with sparse population, it never hurts to find the water and the food they like.

If you want something to shoot both deer and elk with look to a 7-08, 308, or 270. You will probably have to put a brake on any of those for a 10 year old, but they will all work well. Lots of good manufacturers, but I really like the stuff Tikka is putting out for the money. Their T3 Super Lite Stainless is very lightweight and has a great trigger.

I just saw where Zimmerman was acquitted. Thoughts? Almost unbelievable given the Administration's obvious attempts to get this guy tried and convicted of something. How long will it be before Eric "the Crook" Holder and the DOJ file some sort of trumped up Federal Civil Rights charges against the guy????

You cannot beat a Biscuit for hunting. It is the only true NO FAIL rest out there. Just sayin' ...

If this is the ED lenses, this is great glass for the price folks. Not quite on a par with the big boys, but close enough that most people wouldn't know the difference, and for the money, you can't beat it. You should sell them quick.
