    Ever seen one like this?

Very cool. Not sure I could bring myself to shoot that.

    Hit A Snag

You need to rest the knee. Take it from a guy who has spent his entire life beating the crap out of his body ... I used to try to work through the injuries and all it got me was two shoulder surgeries, arthritis and a lower back fusion (which I am recovering from as I type this). If you have to work out, swim, but don't use your legs. You will get just as much cardio from a modified stroke using only your upper body. Also, they have machines that you can bike with your arms only. Those will give you a heck of a workout. You don't need to use the leg to get a workout. Let it rest.
  3. If you are going to look at a Judge, look at the Governor from S&W. Better manufacturer (just my opinion and that of several buddies who have owned both brands) and shoots .410/.45LC/.45ACP. If you want to stop a man (or a bear), throw a lot of lead ... and a .45 is definitely that. Only thing I would be concerned about is the aluminum frame ... won't handle the +P loads for .45 LC I don't think. .357 is a great round if you can handle the snap. My mom carries a .357 LCR ... she's 70 and can handle it without too much issue for short stints of shooting. I have a Ruger Service Six .357 w/ 2.75" barrel I bought off of BigBrowns that is a nice piece. You can pick them up pretty reasonable, and they will shoot .38 and .357. They also have a Speed Six and Security Six that are similar. It is a really reliable piece (SA/DA), and shoots pretty darn accurate for me and my sons. A good trigger job on it will make it all the better. Also, any of the S&W revolvers are great weapons. There is a lot of good stuff out there ... and some junk. Not so sure about the "forget bears if you live in AZ" ... I have seen some pretty big ones out there. I am no wimp ... can pretty much handle my own in most situations ... but something with fur, sharp teeth and claws that weighs more than about 85 lbs deserves all the respect you can give it.

    Monday Check in

I'll be in once the back fusion is done healing per the doc. That will be a while Prior to the surgery I changed my diet to cut carbs and changed my workouts from heavy to light and lost 35#. Currently at 245# and looking to get down to 215#. That is my goal before next year's Elk season.

Things I have learned from this forum: Don't shoot Shitbirds. Don't commit grammatical errors in posts. Worden is a word. The Marines and Army have a rivalry (ok...I knew that). AzLance is a "Bully" who is really a "Softie". AZGFD needs to police itself better. Anything I missed?

    Wolf in the Southwest

How is the Coyote different?? Season is open year round ... kill as many as you want ... yet they thrive. It ain't for lack of hunters trying to get rid of them. The idea of spending over a million per animal is unbelievable. Whoever signed off on that is out of their friggin mind.

    Wolf in the Southwest

I made that exact point in another topic thread that deals with the same issue. Other predators, despite heavy hunting of them, have flourished, and are, in fact, problematic in some areas despite the hunting. The wolf was not suited for survival here ... plain and simple. And like Lark pointed out, they didn't even exist where they are being released. There is an agenda, and it is insidious at its core.

    Well.......

Well hopefully somebody is sticking an arrow in something!!!! High percentage shots people!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  16. On Pistols, you will get holster wear if you pull them a lot. Very few finishes will not have that issue (hard chrome/stainless/etc.). Even Robar, from what I hear is subject to that (though I could be mistaken). But for the most part, Cerakote seems pretty durable to standard use.
  17. Now that is throwing some LEAD!!!!!!!

    NW Valley is FLOODED

My pasture in Gilbert looks like I irrigated and overdid it ... amazing. I have been up since the storm rolled in at 1AM ... pretty heavy all night. If we'd have irrigated on our Tuesday schedule instead of asking to pass I'd have water in my doors right now.
  19. Depending on the terrain, I'd hunt with a .30-30 anyday. Love lever rifles with open sites.

    bore sighting

It's funny ... I've bore sighted quite a few rifles, though I am no expert. I have yet to encounter one that didn't hit the paper at 50 on the one's I've done ... even my muzzle loader. That said, I've experienced the same thing with some of the bore sighting from other big boxes ... won't hit the paper past 25 or so. It's like they don't take their time or something. It really isn't that hard. I guess you could always get a stinker in the bunch ... but I've seen more than one from the big boxes.

    26 Nosler

At first I was pretty jacked on the idea of building one. The more I read, the more I think I am better off with a 6.5 that eats less powder. I'll change my mind again tomorrow I am sure.
  23. The people pushing the wolf agenda are just like the tree huggers that prevent selective deforestation. They claim to be positively affecting the balance of nature, when actually they are severely negatively impacting it. It's all a bunch of "Greenie" college kids with all book smarts and no real world experience. Reminds me of when Janet "Aunt Bee" Napalitano went against getting rid of the Lions in Sabino who were stalking people. Took the word of a bunch of no nothing "educated" eggheads instead of listening to real world Zoological experts in the species who said the cats wouldn't stop the behavior once started. Typical of that side of the aisle (which I think I can say since this is actually about something that affects hunting). Bottom line is that Wolves were not fit to survive in AZ. The Coyotes did. The Black Bear did. The Mountain Lion did. The Grizz didn't. The Wolves didn't. It's just the way of it. Had they been fit to survive, they would have. Period. No matter the hunting ... all those species have been hunted hard. Arizona has been just fine without the two that didn't make it ... and the ones that did are actually having too much success despite hunting them hard still. Just my opinion. Any lurkers who don't like it can feel free to throw darts ... doesn't affect me any.
  24. Yep ... real close to the venerable .41, but I'd hesitate to use it on anything but smaller game ... coyotes, javelina, etc. Hard to get an accurate shot at any distance with such a short barrel.
