There are a lot of types of ignorance in the world ... but discussing these issues is not one of them. These are facts, not lies designed to create hype. These Christian issues being brought up are the exception to the rule, not the rule. Violence is more the rule than the exception in the Middle East ... and I am not buying that the US caused that by going into Iraq ... it was there long before we got there. Hiding heads in the sand will not stop what is happening. Opening our eyes to it and being strong enough to stand up against it will. I attended a lecture given by a man from Pakistan who became Christian after years of being a devout Muslim. He said that the people in this country who claim Islam is a religion of peace have been misguided by a watered down message that is "designed to weaken opposition". He said that women in this country who convert to Islam are encouraged to bring men from the Middle East here and marry them so they can stay. That they have NO IDEA what is in store for them, as they become subject to Sharia Law (whether the State allows that or not). The men, once here, are charged with carrying out the conversion of those around them. As with a previous post ... they do not assimilate into our culture, they try to overthrow it. He goes around the world sharing this message, despite constant threats of death. He is a man without a real home, as he can NEVER return to Pakistan ... he will be given no trial, he will be tortured and beheaded for leaving Islam and spreading the word about it. There's some TOLERANCE, huh???? The greatest attrocities of the last century have been committed because people were either too afraid or too complacent or too TOLERANT to stand up and say/do something. It's high time the tail stop wagging the dog. PERIOD. I am all for freedom of religion. Time was, I was a pretty agnostic sort of guy, and I sure didn't want anyone telling me" what I could or couldn't believe. But the bottom line is that we CANNOT allow Religious Freedom to usher in violence and chaos into the United States as it has in so many other countries. I've said my piece ... and I will not be swayed by someone saying I am "ignorant or intolerant" ... I don't have to be.

Tucson? No. I am in Gilbert.

I am supposed to have the injection this week. We will see what that does. Not sure it can help with the disc height issue though. THAT THING IS SMASHED!!! I will post hunt picks for sure. Between my buddy Bryan and my dad helping out, I hope the boys have some success.

The .280ai is a great non-belted round. Pretty quick for a non-magnum. Only thing I know about Kimbers (having owned one) is the barrel profile is light, so it likes to heat up quick. That makes repeatable accuracy deteriorate over several shots. But mine was not that specific model, so who knows??

Everyone is different. He said 23 years was pretty long...but you know us overachieving Conservatives!!!

Yeah ... this!!!

Thanks Heat. I appreciate it. Old injury Snap. Herniated a disc at 24 lifting a Coke Machine on a Construction Project. I guess 23 years is too long for it to hold up under constant activity and stress. In the pictures, the healthy discs look like Oreo's stuffed with Marshmallows ... the bad one looks like just one of the cookie pieces. Doc said this is really the only long term solution that is viable. Said he could just go in and clean it up, but it would likely not last, so I figured to get it done up right before the politicians screw up our Health Care System even more.

Never got the package with the electronics, but have one of their hard maps for 13A. Pretty rugged.

It is a great unit. I have hunted it a couple of times. You really need to get up there an scout it. Bring plenty of water, plenty of fuel, and plenty of spare tires. Also ... word to the wise ... it can get REALLY COLD up there. I am usually a guy walking around in a t-shirt on cold nights and people think I am nuts ... the last year we went there it was COLD!!!!!!!! Find a place to camp when you scout and get there early for your hunt. There are not a lot of great spots to park your butt when you aren't hunting. Get a BLM Map ... there is some private land up there, and some of those guys don't fool around. First time I ever saw the sign "I don't Dial 911 ... I shoot a .357" was up there ... right below a sign that said "NO TRESPASSING ... THIS MEANS YOU!!!!". Another pointer is GLASS GLASS GLASS GLASS. Find the does and you will find the bucks not far behind them. Sage flats are great to sit and glass on ... one guy I ran into up there glassed up 15 bucks by the 2nd day of the hunt just going from flat to flat and glassing. Most were not shooters ... he ended up taking one on the last day that went 195" and change. Use Google Earth to find water that is just a few hundred yards off of roads, but hidden behind elevation changes. We saw more than one buck going to water in areas like that.

Last time I tried no FFL would do a private to private transfer. They all said no.. When I have sold something that shipped I sent it to the FFL and transferred it to them. They then transferred to the buyer.

looking to buy a new muzzleloader
sjvcon replied to 218buck's topic in Muzzleloader hunting for Coues Deer
I have a TC Triumph ... great rifle. Accurate. Would not hesitate to shoot it past 300 yards or even more. Don't use it much though...more a bow/centerfire guy. -
Yeah ... pretty graphic photos ... but it is the World we live in. Rather my boys know what they are up against.

Lots of personal attacks ... mostly from someone calling other people "ignorant" and such. Bottom line is this ... the extremists in the Middle East are a HUGE problem that we face TODAY. If we don't deal with it TODAY, we will continue dealing with it in the future.

I have shot Federals through mine ... Winchester Model 70 Classic in RUM. 180 Grain Barnes. Very good groups. Heavier tends to be better in my rifle.

Eisenhower was an under-appreciated President ... we need another one like him.

Winchester M70 270wsm VS 300wsm: Conflicted and need insight.
sjvcon replied to deserttacoma84's topic in Long Range Shooting
Sounded to me like he wants to "build" one of these (or another action) up. Not necessarilly stay with what he's got. That being the case, I'd recommend a new stock, new barrel (Brux. Bartlain, Krieger, etc) and a new trigger on a tuned up Winchester action. I'd look to chamber in 7 wsm, because the .284 has some great characteristics. 6.5 wsm would be very cool too, though harder on the barrel I think. Bottom line...Winchester is a fine action to build on IMHO. -
Well ... that blew me out ... I was guessing mid 340's. Great Bull.

Anyone interested in a fairly gently used Hypervent? I find as I get older that I don't like carrying as much stuff as this thing will hold. Going to get a smaller pack. Go ahead ... call me a WIMP....I can take it. Looking for $125 $100 ... pics have been posted. Bladder can be included for another $10.

A trade has been worked out. Pack is gone pending meeting.

Funny ... never worried much about Black Bears here in AZ (worry more about Cats ... though I don't worry too much either way, which is probably ignorant) ... but in that part of the country the bears are HUGE!!! I think if I camped, hunted and/or hiked up there, I'd be on red alert all the time and would be carrying a CANON!!!!!!!
