No doubt thats a big ol cat. Congrats. Glad you reposted so i could see the pic.
-
This is a big ol pumpkin head tom from texas. If i remember right the guy said 35 lbs. . . . Whatever it is was, nice cat. Would have made a pretty lifesize mount.
-
Okay. Although i wont call someone a liar based on their opinion of the weight of the bobcat, there are far too many variables. However for the vast majority of bobcats here in Az, Hyper is correct on the avg weight. Do i believe there are cats here that go 30lbs, yes. I have a picture of one about 30 yards away standing in 9 inches of snow and there is still about 6 inches of space between the snow and the cats belly. I estimated the cat to be around 44-48" long. There was also 5 other people there as witness..... that being said, go get some more big ol cats. And another thing, i am the one that Hyper lost the bet on. As he said he didnt believe i could catch a cat i told him i had seen that was for sure over 20lbs. Well i caught it, took pics of it on a scale from far enough away to see the whole cat and then zoom in in series to see the scale better. He is a man of his word and did hold up his end of our bet. Go get another 30lber, i will cook up the crow! Ha ha ha

Good call on letting the cat go. Im sure you will be rewarded with a big ol nasty tom soon enough. You will know when you see one. As soon as you lay eyes on it, "yeah! That ones coming home with me" its almost always without doubt. The big ol boys are set aside by themselves.

Im going to go ahead and hold the raffle. I have had a good number of folks show interest so here we go! The items were won in a raffle at the 4th Annual Dove Shoot! I already have a 12ga shotgun and I won the processing last year so Im donating the one I won this year! The shotgun is a 12ga pump shotgun made by Mossberg (535). Also included is a Gift Certificate from Thrush's Processing, it is good for 1 deer processing or $70 off any elk processing. The tickets are $10 each or 5 tickets for $40. Im going to donate the money we raise back into the deer camp that is being held in Unit 42 this year. Oh, and RL has kindly added that if we can raise $650 on this raffle he will still shave his head! So here is a second chance for us to get the shaving done! LETS GET IT DONE!!! -if you are in please post how many tickets you want, I will PM everyone who is in my address to get the funds behind the tickets. DG -Amanda, the money will be used in conjunction with Arizona Outfitters and Guide Services and AZ Game and Fish for the 2010 Junior Deer Camp in Unit 42 later this year. I will be taking the money to either Terry or RL so they can make sure it gets to where it needs to to help the camp out.

I was fortunate enough to win a shotgun at the dove shoot (donated by ac_guy - John). I already have a 12 ga shotgun and was thinking of trying to raise some more money for the Jr Deer Camp in 42 this year. I also won the deer processing again this year - dont have ANY idea how.. Maybe throw that in to sweeten the pot. the winner would get the shotgun (12ga, up to 3 1/2 inch shells) and the deer processing (does not expire). maybe something like $10 each or 5 for $40. Anyone interested? - I want to see if it would be worth holding the raffle to raise some money or just hold it til next years shoot. DG

Im sure some of you all have seen this, but Im going to post it anyway. It REALLY bothers me that this kind of crap is happening more and more. Lets get behind this thing and really stick it to the ACLU

HR 45 Blair Holt Firearm licensing & Record of Sales Act 0f 2009

In a message dated 4/22/2009 3:57:32 P.M. Central Daylight Time, BarbJ730 writes: HR 45 Blair Holt Firearm Licensing & Record of Sales Act of 2009 Please send this to everybody on your list. Very Important for you to be aware of a new bill HR 45 introduced into the House. This is the Blair Holt Firearm Licensing & Record of Sale Act of 2009. Even gun shop owners didn't know about this because it is flying under the radar. To find out about this go to any government website and type in HR 45 or Google HR 45 Blair Holt Firearm Licensing & Record of Sales Act of 2009. You will get all the information. Basically this would make it illegal to own a firearm - Any rifle with a clip or ANY pistol unless: It is registered You are fingerprinted You supply a current Driver's License You supply your Social Security # You will submit to a physical & mental evaluation at any time of their choosing Each update - change or ownership through private or public sale must be reported and costs $25- Failure to do so you automatically lose the right to own a firearm and are subject up to a year in jail. There is a child provision clause on page 16 section 305 stating a child-access provision. Gun must be locked and inaccessible to any child under 18. The Government would have the right to come and inspect that you are storing your gun safely away from accessibility to children and fine is punishable for up to 5 years in prison. If you think this is a joke - go to the website and take your pick of many options to read this.. It is long and lengthy. But, more and more people are becoming aware of this. Pass the word along. FAILURE TO DO SO AT YOUR PERIL! Any hunters in your family - pass this along. the best way to fight this is to tell all your friends about it and "spring into action". join a pro-gun group like the Colorado Rifle Association, hunting associations, gun clubs and especially the NRA. This is just a "termite" approach to complete confiscation of guns and disarming of our society to the point we have no defense - chip away a little here and there until the goal is accomplished before anyone realizes it. This is one to act on whether you own a gun or not. The Second Amendment is America's original homeland security. -
that is awesome... very nice DG

Painted a room in my house...pretty cool
DesertGhost replied to Butts's topic in Non-hunting trip reports
Amanda, If you take a thin piece of wood you can cut out the shapes ie make a stensile (spelling) and take some drywall mud / texture mud and fill in the stensile. paint over it and you should get something like that. not sure in this case, but I am sure "Butts" will fill us in. That looks pretty good if I do say so myself. DG -
BAH Ha Ha Ha Ha Soooo TRUE. Sad but True

did you clean that armadillo? I hear they are really good. smell all to high heaven - like a javalina stinks to high heck, but I hear they actually taste pretty good. never had one myself.

My Sons First Outing With His 10/22
DesertGhost replied to cpugsie's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Very nice!!! so when does the rabbit and squirrel hunting begin ps: that is a great looking stock as well. very good looking gun if I may say so. DG -
Im not real sure but from what I am finding there are several folks who feel the same way. I know most of these guys are busy so they dont take much time on each deer. ie they go through and take the best cuts that are the easiest to take off and the meat you would take from the ribs etc (if you butchered yourself) is discarded. may not be what happened in your case, but several folks that have dropped off deer this year have been saying that. again, second hand knowledge as I have not tagged yet this year or last year. good luck DG

very nice!!! congrats!!! nice deer.... and with a bow. fantastic! DG
