I have heard they are both great. Does the swaro warranty compare to the Vortex warranty? For those who have spent a good amount of time looking through both, which would you buy? I finally have the cash to get either. Thanks for your time

+1 Kent. I don't see a problem in temporarily turning a camera off, while hunting a tank. Just make sure to turn it back on when you leave.

That has also been my experience with asics, I agree new balance will typically last. I prefer adidas trail runners, or sometimes Nike trail running shoes. After you try a few different brands, you will find a brand that just seems to fit well. Andy

I used to run about 70-100 miles a week for many years, so I have went through many pairs of shoes. Like quality hunting boots you do get what you pay for. However, I would recommend getting fitted at a store such as Runners Den, in Phx. They can make sure you get a shoe that properly fits the way your foot strikes the ground. This will save you money in the long run as a proper fitted shoe will last longer and keep you from getting an annoying joint injury right before your hunt. Makers such as Adidas, Nike, Asics, New Balance all produce good shoes. All brands make different models that are suited to people who have different bio-mechanics and who run in varying terrain. If your on the trails a lot, tell the shoe salesman. Runners Den has sales people who know what they are doing. It can be scary getting a shoe from a salesperson at a typical sporting goods store. Take Care, Andy

Unit 21- HELP !!!... First time in Unit
ghostchaser replied to Michael1's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Don't mean to correct you but the wilderness you're talking about is the Cedar Bench Wilderness. The PM Wilderness is a few miles south of the southern boundary of the CBW across the Verde Rim. Have a great hunt and keep us posted on all your coues ventures. Grong is right, try south and west of Brown Spring Ranch, from the road in there you can glass and see deer deer sunning themselves in the early morning, especially in the Dec. Get good Binos and look to the south and the west. Good luck! -

They are still open Mcdowell rd, just east of Miller on south side in Scottsdale. Manny and his father run it. Jake is the gunsmith and he is very good. Take care

Wow! just learned that I drew a tag for a Bull in 23. I put in as a second choice and drew it! I have been mainly focusing in on coues, and have drawn unsuccessfully for elk for 5 years, until now! Anyway, I put in for 23 as my grandfather has a place near Punkin Center, and I did not think I had a chance of getting drawn there. 6A was my first choice and I know people who know 6A very well. At this moment I feel a bit intimidated, and wanted some advise on whether I should tackle this as a DIY hunt, or try and get a guide. I am pretty "green" as an elk hunter, but I know how to scout, have pretty good optics and don't mind scout; that is half the fun! Just wanted to see what you all thought and if anyone could help steer me in the right direction. Thanks alot

My Grandfather, 85 yrs in Az. He was born in Phx in 1923, used to hunt doves where Phx College is, won what some would call a scope by taking the biggest deer around New River in the late 30's, as an Eagle Scout he lion hunted the Mazatals on week long pack trips. Flew p-47's "over the hump" in Burma, at 75 whent out quail hunting with 15 shells, came back with 2 shells and 15 birds, and taught me the greatest call ever known to man. He still hunts quail and deer, but likes to use a quad like most 25 yr olds. And he looks at me funny when I break out the 15x binos. He is awesome!

Thanks for the advise guys. Game Hauler, yeah I just found out. I have been focused on changing my bow setup and I think I had just given up on drawing an elk tag. So in the mail I get a brochure from an outfitter saying congrats drawing your tag! I had to re-read the brochure then I jumped online. The hunt is the rifle bull hunt last week of November. Thanks again for taking the time to give me your input.

This is the State of Arizona. The left hand of the government does not know what the right hand is doing. The money we spend on these tags will probably not be used in the way it was intended for. +1

Congrats! Great story as well. Now I just have to get my wife to read this, so she knows what to get me for my birthday!

Long time lurker here! I just wanted you guys to know, that I was so impressed with the helpfulness and advise provided by the members here that I had to join. I met up with AZCOUESANDELK the other day and he was great and very friendly. He is great example of the type of ambassadors our great sport needs. Just wanted to say hello to all and I am also a fairly new addict to the coues world, but I hope I can help others as well.
