I think there is a little more to this. Junior was going to catch it or ride it. Bet its scary when they walk on their back legs at you!

Way to stick with it. Many would not have, feel good about that anyways.

Nice! I have never faced the issue but have thought it over many times and would like to think I would call it done at one. Like said above I got my animal just couldnt find it. But who is really going to post on here that they would keep wacking animals until they found one?

2011 Bear UPDATE

Bear? Or man? -
CJ's are still a bunch cheaper, Troopers will suprise you on how well they do. My Dad had a Bronco II and it was sketchy. I have an old Wagoneer and at around 6000# it dont trailer anywhere, but it wheels with the best of them.

You are having a great year, good luck!

So any one heading up to Unit 22 next week for turkey season? All the chatter has been about those lucky ones who are elk hunting. I'm heading up on my very first turkey hunt and am more excited than I thought I would be. I guess it all feels the same as a hunt gets closer. Havent put a plan together yet, just starting where I have seen them before. Plenty of water and thick stuff so they will have a fighting chance. I might try the trick where you fall asleep under a tree and when you wake up there they are, works on deer too. Good luck to all you fellow turkey stalkers and if you see a silver Dakota with a CW sticker, dont honk, I'm sleeping!

I thought it was the Health Reform Bill the way it was worded, sorry. (You caught the tater)

From the Game & Fish website: Mule Deer Areas: Mule deer numbers in Unit 23 are at currently at low levels compared to long term averages. The past several years’ drought is primarily responsible for this condition, but recent normal range precipitation seem to be helping the mule deer in 23 bounce back. Mule deer inhabit virtually all habitat types in the unit. The southern and lower elevation areas provide mule deer hunting along the A-Cross road (Forest Road 60) and the Cherry Creek road (Forest Road 203). The northern and higher elevation areas north of Young to scout are the Naegelin Rim/Canyon area and the Valentine Ridge/Canyon area. Portions of Unit 23 in the Canyon Creek area were burned in the Rodeo-Chediski Fire and will have an impact on mule deer populations there. Access: Access is widely available via State Routes 260 and 288 and the complex of Forest Service roads. Some Forest service road closures in the northern part of the Unit exist during December through March to protect roads from damage during snow and rain. Check with the Tonto National Forest during these times. Be aware that if accessing Unit 23 by crossing Tonto Creek in Tonto Basin, that Tonto Creek is subject to temporary flooding and isolating travelers. The same warning holds true for crossing Cherry, Coon, and Salome Creeks. Smaller side drainages can also block travel for extended periods. The early archery hunt will generally have hot, summer-like temperatures with moderate to cool nights. Late archery hunters can see rain, snow, or clear/cold weather. Tips: As with most big game hunting, peak mule deer activity periods are early morning and late evening. Be in your hunting area during these times. Hunters who get out and work the areas on foot are usually more successful than those hunters who stay close to roads. Utilize your binoculars and cover hillsides carefully before moving on. Nice way to web hunt....blah blah blah...honeyholes....dont steal my cameras...get out there and hike...

2011 Dove Season Begins
Hunterjohnny posted a topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
Well it was a great opening morning for dove season. We saw lots of birds and had a blast. We tried something totaly new to us. Skipped all the agricultural areas and hit the desert. Not the same volume but man it was still good shooting. The planets lined up and was able to get my son and daughter to come out which was worth it alone. Anyone thinking about this shoud try it. Water is they key and they realy didnt start flying until about an hour after sunrise. You could sleep in. They were still coming in at 9 when we left but dang it was getting hot and I had my fill. I amazed everyone with my shootins skills this year. Dang birds were so close they were hitting my gun and thowing my aim off.. Just couldnt adjust to this today (old dog new tricks). (no pictures, thats how I roll) Hope eveyone had as much luck and fun! -
I'm with you on this one. This is the apart time that makes me love her more!

Cameras are an addiction of their own. It starts with one picked up and strapped down for curiosity sake. Then you get the pictures, all down hill from there. Better angles, different trails, water, salt, high angles and low, now more pixles and maybe video. All building to the full fever because there is no season, it's forever. Then the inevitable liberated cam, astonishment, anger, revenge, new camera, lock box, chain, hiking in further, hanging higher, a second camera to cover that camera. I love it and wouldnt trade it for anything. It is fun and exiciting. Might even get bigfoot one day!

Custom Firearm Engraving
Hunterjohnny replied to dbengraver's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
That is some beutiful work. Amazing what engraving adds to a firearm. -
There are huge amounts of people that buy these for 50 cents on the dollar. The seller gets cash to get what they want, and the buyer gets a lot of food. Seen it happen many times.
