Hey all....if anybody's interested, I put the full story of our hunt up at my blog http://www.faithfamilyfishing.com/2013/10/two-moore-bulls/ and included the video and trail cam pics that Jed Larson gave me of my bull! Thanks, Jed!

Thanks, Jed! Congrats on your bull too, man...I can't get over how beast of a 6x6 he is!! That video made my day...I wondered what he looked like before he broke his left g2 and the tip of his left g1! Looks like his length was pretty consistent before the break!! I would totally dig any TC pics you can send my way, man!! I'll PM you my email! Thanks again!

Hey gents!! Wanted to show you my Dad's and my early rifle bulls from 23N...we had an amazing hunt and are thrilled with our bulls!! Dad got his 7x6 (very symmetrical...G6 broken off of his left side or he'd have been a perfectly matched 7x7) on Saturday after a full day chasing bugles (big sounding bugles from small bulls) at 128yds! My bull was shot yesterday. Spotted him on the thickest covered hill I've seen....old burn, so tons of fallen trees and new growth. Spotted him early and watched him bed....only got a good look at his right side during our two hours of watching him. He gave me a vital shot at 500yds and I took it prone. Hit him solid, but he was a tough old bull and he kept going...total of four shots from that range (all hits) before he fell out of sight behind thick cover. Toughest pack out EVER! Straight up and down and THiCK cover...but I am so thrilled with his length and mass! No score yet, but royals are 19 1/2" and 20 1/4", 3rds are 19 1/4" and 17"...has a broken g2 (left side), a few inches broke off his left g1, and a few inches off his right g2. I feel very blessed to have killed this old bull, especially after seeing that rough country where he grew big!! He's no "Rhino" (an awesome bull, btw....congrats to MBAZ and the hunter), but he's mine

I second Zoltar! The Dead Mule Cabin is the sweetest place in 22N to stay!! Puts you right in the middle of elk country and is gorgeous too!!! That would be my recommendation!! -
My Dad and I drew 2 of the 20 Early Rifle Bull tags in 23N....with 5 BPs. Still can't believe it...

Mullin's Got it done in a big way!

Noel, Thanks for the reply, man....I do agree with you that for many, it has become all about the sport and horns, and I do know that people will do whatever they can to get a "step up" (i.e. Steroids, etc). I think for many (not necessarily you) that it is an issue of jealousy...that good 'ol human nature kicks in that other people are able to experience things we aren't (I know I feel this way about sheep hunting, Alaska Salmon Fishing, and many other things I can't afford. But I think that what we (hunters who love the hunt for more than just horns) can do is appreciate the animals that we see harvested and be ethical sportsmen, keeping in mind that buying an expensive tag or hiring a guide is not illegal or unethical as steroids are...just an awesome advantage for those who can afford it (much the same as many here are able to afford amazing optics while others (read: me) can barely afford walmart optics) I'm not familiar with the bad press surrounding the Spider Bull, but I do know the situation in N. AZ that you spoke of...I agree with you 100%! All the money in the world does not negate the need for ethics and ACCOUNTABILITY!! I think the exchange of lots of cold hard cash makes it easy to cut corners and bend the rules, so that should absolutely be watched...at the same time, I have heard only good things about Jim and the Mullin's Team, so props to them for keeping it real and not substituting cut-corners for hard work and time in the field! -

Huntmoore replied to matthewp45's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
I gotta agree with Kathi on this one...the negatives are due to people, not the tags themselves. Those tags bring in hundreds of thousands of dollars for AZ...to say they are bad because the guides make more money on them is just plain jealousy (so they're making more money...so what? They're good at their jobs...). To say it's not fair that they hunt before the rest of us? I could say that the archery hunts aren't fair either because they're earlier than my rifle tag...should we all be out there at the same time? Again, that's another people problem thinking that someone else has an "unfair" advantage (Jealousy seems to be a pattern, huh?). And finally, to say that these hunts bring the sporting community bad press...well, we're always gonna have that. If everything that brings hunting/fishing bad press should end, then we'd have to say goodbye to it altogether...the anti's will always have something to say negatively about what we do... We need to remember the dollars that it brings in to AZ wildlife...and remember that both sides of this Auction Tag/No Auction Tag argument have something in common...we're all hunters! We just need to keep that in mind rather than let this whole "it's not fair" attitude come between us all...! -

MI man fined and revoked for killing elk too close to homes
Huntmoore replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
I don't see where it says the first shot wasn't a violation...it says he "shot, wounded, and eventually killed the bull in a privately owned meadow"....that makes me think it all happened in the meadow. And the WM heard the first shot and investigated...so he must have at least suspected a violation on the first shot? -
MI man fined and revoked for killing elk too close to homes
Huntmoore replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
You guys really think they went too hard on him? Do we really want to be knon as state who goes light on our governors tag holders or super raffle tag holders. These are guys who can pay a $2,000 fine without flinching...so it seems like the tag holders would just write a blank chack to G&F and violate as many laws as they want. I don't agree that McClendon should have gooten of scott free....and I don't believe he was getting nothing from the hunter...but the guy obviously killed that elk within spitting distance of homes...they should throw the book at him! (although considering what he paid for the tag, it probably still won't hurt him). I don't want our state to be known as a pushover state that can be bought off for making serious violations in order to bag a trophy.
