Will this Aug. be better to me than the past.
WHALE replied to Elkhunter1's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Nice story and congrats on the first. Good luck in august -
I think all you can do is sign it over to you kids or donate it. There are organizations that you can donate it to for kids to use. I donated a whitetail tag a few years ago to OE4A.

Have had mine for 15+ years. it has been through a full body rusting, dropped more than a few times, shot who knows how many cases of ammo back when I hunted ducks and dove. Never had one problem. It has killed 8 turkeys as well. No. 4 shot 3" with extra full choke As said above best shotgun ever made

I have only had 1 early tag so don't have a lot of experience with that but I have shot a bull the last 5 years on the late archery tag. The late hunts offer a tag that not many people want or even take serious if they draw it. I rarely run into people that are willing to stalk bulls on the side of the rim or doing anything but drive around hoping to jump a bull up. It can be a very difficult hunt but I would rather hunt every year if possible. While there are big bulls out there it can be a little harder to find them on the late hunt if a big bull is all your wanting then the early tag is definitely the way to go.

Been scouting and finally found some fresh sign of what looks to be a few turkey. Now if the first hunt tag holders don't shoot em up maybe there will be some left up there for our second hunt tags This will be my wife's first turkey tag so hopefully it goes well. She already killed her first pig this spring. Good luck out there!

No apology necessary I thought this was a informative sight to help others. I ask questions and don't think you should have to apologize for that. We are thinking about trying some night hunting as well on top of the rim, if I am understanding the regulations correctly 4A is open daylong.

Well put TJ I have had the same answer for some buddys when we have had this discussion. I don't see any harm in placing water barrels for bear if it was legal.

My wife got her first pig yesterday. She had a rifle tag and wanted to shoot one spot and stalk, but with 6 kids early mornings can be rough. The plan was for Jake and I to get out early and see if we could fine the pigs down south where we had seen them in January. We got out early yesterday and were glassing before the sun came. About 7:00 I picked em up about a 1/2 mile out and got on the phone to have our 2 shooters (my wife and Jake's soon to be wife) and 7 kids meet up with us. Jake called his dad and Tim and they were headed our way to help out as well. So we had 7 kids and 6 adults ranging from 7 months to 50 some years to stalk about 11 pigs. We got to within 180 yds. and told the girls to find the pigs in their scopes which was pretty hard do to the fact the pigs were bedded in some mesquites. They ended up with a couple misses and mama with her first pig a young boar shot at 139 yards. Thanks to all involved it was a hoot with the kids enjoying every moment and my wife who I am very proud of.
