mike ornoski replied to standman's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife

just letting you all know their is a wcc meeting at 6:00pm at the game and fish on greenway.tuesday the 30th.there should be some hot topics @ we need everybody's input with all the proposed changes coming since we lost our 10 % cap. the only way we as a group can change this thing is let our voices be heard.... mike

we were scouting 36b for our dec tag.saw 80 % of deer before 9:00am. the bucks were all singles.we did not see any other hunters in our area.dont think this area gets much hunting pressure. did glass a few does in their beds midday.with the cold front on the early oct hunt made a huge difference, the success rate shot way over the norm.the trick to this nov. hunt is to spend allot of time behind the glass @ let them do the walking for you. mike

yes their is deer in 42 lots of them try east of pima @ your sure to do well. cave creek closed 2 years ago due to a hunter killing a 4x4 in some persons yard. remember before you shoot know the area so this kind of thing does not happen again becouse cave creek has just as many deer as any were in the state @ now we can not hunt it. mike

PROPOSED LICENSE FEE MEETINGS
mike ornoski replied to Diamondbackaz's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
I was at the wcc meeting last week at the game @ fish. the price increase is for over the next 10 years@ is not in stone yet.you all should take all this voice @ frustration to one of these meeting.were lucky to get 15 guys at one of these meeting. you can talk to most of the g@f guys directly becouse this is part of what the meeting is for.also you have the elk, deer,az.bow hunters, desert christian archers, antelope, sheep, houndsmens, walleye and other assosiation all their trying to keep tabs on the game and fish. The only way we as a group are going to turn this thing around is to flood these meeting @ let them know us az hunters are tired of the way thing are.I challenge everbody on this site to go out and make these meetings and let our voices be heard good or bad. mike -
I've hunted 5a for over 20 years their is ton of elk.try off the 95 road past east clear creek. take the fork north to the 300 road. you should do good in between that area. I've seen a # of 320 to 350 class bull in thier. mike

hey hicap48.you can never have to many eyes glassing. we have 3 tags in dec. I'm bringing up a first timer with us. If your down their I'll look you up. I drive a f150 98 lifted green 4x4 with bow hunting stickers all over it. were going to be about 6 to 8 miles past pena blanka off the ruby. mike

we'll be there two. we have 3 dec 36b tag. should be a great hunt remember scout, glass, scout, glass some more. the deer wont be far from were you find them. the old saying goes how much time you put into it is what you get out of it. you dont want to be scouting the day before the opener.. mike

In my experience, those cool little coues deer like the more dence type of vegitation.my good buddy hunted 7 days dark to dark had over 30+ deer come in 1/3 were bucks.none over 95".We have taken allot bucks up to 85"so he was looking for something nice. All from one tank this year @ it has a lot of cover @ remember It does not matter what kind of tank it is. The trick is to dedicate yourself to it if the deer are hitting it.bowsniper like you did when you took that tom turkey this year. mike

i would have tagged it but under g @ f rule you can not take or tag an animal you did not take. since you have to call it in you would have to lie about it. also a few years back a friend found a deer that was just shot, he went around to all the camps to check if any body lost one. he found a guy that lost one when he saw the deer. he said it was not his he had shot it 6"farther back.so he did not take it. "since it was a small 2 point" meanwhile an old timer in an other camp said he would take it if know one would clam it.well he did @ here came G @ F when he told the story they took the deer gave him a ticket. I've seen this happen 2 other times. Its sad people need to take responsibility @ take what they shoot @ keep tracking for more then an hour and before they give up. you spend all this time and money 11 month out of the year waiting, thinking about the hunt and we dont spend the time after we hit the animal.we need to take the hunt is over attitude in tell we explored all options. to know for a fact you could not find the animal mike

I was hunting in 22 and heard 25 to 30 of those awsome melodies. Did call in 1 small bull mike

I was their also. I could not beleave How self centered some of those people were. 4 peaks, wild west and a bunch of others. They are no worse then uso all they cared about was them selves and how they are affected. if you look at the regs, and g@f results one line, they have intell the 23rd. I think this good to apoint also so people will get involved. I have an idea, raise elk tag to $1000, they must have to purchase licence unrefundable. put dollars up front for tag, complete in person a az hunter saftey class. the first elk tag must be a cow tag before a bull tag is given . mike
