To a degree - everyone here is a road hunter. if some would rather sit and drive than walk- for whatever reason - get over it! if you are watching for animals while driving to or during or from a hunting spot - guess what? I'd rather have them drive and keep going than distrupt the areas i hunt !-- They can and sometimes do move the animals for my benifit! So let those who want to sit and drive enjoy their hunt as much as you enjoy packin into remote areas! If they are bothering you - you are not far enough away from the road!!

Amanda - great video of trail cam pics - I really noticed something I've been saying all along- Some" older " bulls drop antlers very early - it shows a bull with no antlers on 2-11 and by 4-09 he's already showing good growth - all thru into may and on the 26 th the picture shows huge antler development - hes still got jun - july and august before they are suppose to start rubbing off velvet - . did you move the camera or are there any pics of when he may have been rubbed clean. i've seen big bulls with great antler growth - up to 6x6 velvet in late may - while turkey huniting and some scoff at the idea fof the antler development that early. Finding spots to mount a camera - out of the wind - which direction it faces is key but as Amandas clip shows the angle of pointing down can give you both at once , less chance of a windy day clickin empty pics and no need to worry about the direction of the sun! I'm a novice trail camera guy and it takes time to learn a few things . Everyone here has been great in offering advice and seeing others pics helps a lot - - I know i learned a few things -

upon a closer look- the whitetail buck attacks the spike buck and the bigger buck is leaving - you can just see his antler-- i first thought the attcked deer was a doe but when enlarged you can see the spike i'd have that pic enlarged ! awesome!!

We all get hung up on "TROPHY" I've drawn a few trophy tags -and have taken a few trophy animals- We all want to fill our tags but i can attest to the "whats he score"bug. they ole - if its not a monster - I'm gonna eat tag soup.- havent gone that far - yet I use to shoot the first buck but after actually taking a "trophy" -it changes you - I've had a lot of tag soup over the yrs.- not so much looking for another trophy but letting some of the little guys grow up. I got a feeling that if I'm lucky enough to draw a Strip tag - I will catch the bug agin. cva could date 30 yrs ago - i made a kit .50/54 back then- excellent accurracy out to 100 yrds using round balls and 100 grains of pyrodex powder! avoid black powder and itshard to find! to shoot - balls -(pre lubed) patches)- powder/ and a measurer - caps #11 - bullet starter to have around - nipple wrench - ball puller/ patch puller and a cleaning jib. speed loaders come in handy. i just gave/sent everything i had for my cva and the gun back to hunt in muzzy camp/wisc. - it stayed never shoot more than 3-4 rounds before cleaning barrel - they have a bore cleaning solution and get extra white cleaning patches to clean the bore to keep shooting or sighting in!- to clean and put away - always just clean with HOT soapy water- when hunting or sighting in - always shoot a cap before you load it and after you've cleaned the barrel between sight in shots - to make sure the nipple is clear i always blow the barrel before i reload between shots too! goosd luck - what unit did yiou draw for your HAM hunt?
