Brother shoots sibling in Arizona hunting accident
elkaholic replied to down2hunt's topic in The Campfire
Glad to hear he's going to be ok - prayers for full recovery from this accident. safety and knowing where your hunting partners are can turn a fun hunt into a tragic hunt. be safe out there ! -
did ya troll lures or spinners - haven't been the blue ridge in a lot of yrs. having a boat is the only way to go- very limited shore access

premium elk - premium deer ---- isn't anything more than the rut hunt - everyone knows this is the most desirable time to be hunting them. they've been limiting these hunts for yrs. now they don't want you to go out and hunt at the best time unless you PAY!!! . with split tag fees - paper applications are finished - as we all know was gonna happen anyway . but the only way they can do it is online only!! pay the fee after the draw . guess they got to pay more for a simple computer app- oh yeah we already know the hassle of the online process - now its gonna cost 13$ application fee - total B.S. simplify the licensing and fee structure - like a business - goal of any business - make more money!!

Dirty tactics once again from the AZGFD! Now you'll know why to never trust them
elkaholic replied to bonecollector777's topic in The Campfire
Shawn - it's simple -it is about the elk!! was a tag left behind for someone else to tag a wounded - presumed dead elk- that's a violation was the the transport portion of the tag- filled out - then the tag could not be used - as stated in the regulations - that's a violation- its that or someone else filled it out - that's a violation when some one else used the tag on an animal the next day - that they had shot and killed - even if it was to finish off the animal - that's a violation if all these things happened and they did according to court documents then the animal was also transported illegally- that's a violation please feel free to correct me if any of these are wrong! you stated you asked for the department to give citations if they thought you or your buddys did anything wrong it's easy to look up all these laws that were broken - the majority of the people here see it very clearly we all know what would have happened if it was any of us!! thousands in fines and loss of hunting/fishing for 5 yrs and same for all involved!! hopefully the 100,000 covered any expenses or lose of pay -
probably my lastreport till she actually goes home - from her Mom -- Two short uplifting updates: The first that Becky was ok'd to eat anything she wants. Somebody brought her sushi . Here's the second: There are new movements everyday!! It is just great to see the smile on Becky's face! Today we took her for a ride outside...took her around the courtyard and the see the Fisher House where Sam and I are staying. Then a bit later, when her friend Joe came, we all went out again to get ice cream floats. She worked hard today in PT, OT and speech therapy. Went to the "gym" for physical therapy and did a bit of work on the parallel bars. Still working on getting to an inpatient rehab. Sam plans on going to look at the two possibilities tomorrow. We did find out we could just stay at the Fisher House when she is inpatient elsewhere. God is good and continues to lead us on this road we are on!

we all know that if this was one of us. here's the first of many tickets/ violations - the animal was killed illegally- the tag holder didn't take the kill shot to finish off the animal the animal was tagged illegally- only the tag holder can legally tag an animal- you can not just leave your tag in camp for your hunting buddys- assuming its dead is B.S. which means the animal was transported illegally - I'm sure any game warden would have had a few more for everyone everyone involved would be fined and hunting rights revoked. the court findings that the interpretation of the law didn't cover this CRIME is B.S. -
this just in from her husband - "Becky continues to make great progress. It is amazing to think about how she was when I first saw her 2 1/2 wks ago and where she is now. God has certainly been working miracles. PT has worked with her a lot these last 2 days. She was up "walking" with a hemi-walker (a smaller type walker). With support, and helping with her right foot, she walked out to the nurses' desk. She has lifted her right leg and moved her right arm today!! Great to see her do this, but even greater was the expression on her face. A huge smile!! She knows she can do it!! There is a new doctor following her now-he specializes in brain injuries. He said there is still bruising and as that continues to get better, we will see more and more progress. We will be moving her to an inpatient facility within the next couple of days. The doctor said she only has to be there until she is "safe." Until she can move about on her own without falling. He said it could be only a week. Then she will continue with outpatient back here at Naval Medical. There will be more transitions and changes in the next few days. Pray that we will settle in again at a new place. Pray for the skilled medical workers who will continue to work with Becky! Thanks and love to all of you"

I heard the latest charges against the sadistic trio is attempted murder - they had basically left her for dead! one can only hope that they somehow experience the same type brutality in prison - sorry but that's how I feel!

-
haven't you guys figured it out yet! by the time our turkey hunts start - 90% of the hens are on nests - we are told this makes it easier to call in love sick Toms ! most hunts in other states start 1 full month before ours!! even on the rez! you figure it out yet!?

miracle of prayers -- latest update very good-- Written 9 hours ago More good news with each update!! Becky is back at Naval Hospital and continues to improve. She's able to show emotion and has been smiling She gave my mom a thumbs up ("yay for making it to Guam!"). Some friends have come to visit and Becky, and she acknowledges them with a wave. She knows her birthday. Speaking is still difficult but she's able to make out an audible "mom" and "Sam." My mom asked me to share this: she made a comment to Becky about how big her muscles are, and she responded by lifting her left arm and flexing it. What a show off. just kidding. but really. Unfortunately Becky can't yet move her right arm and leg, but she does respond to stimulation on that side. Physical therapy hasn't started yet but I have no doubt that she'll be back on track in no time!! Within the next few weeks Becky will be transported to San Diego Naval Hospital. The good Lord has her - and all of us - in the palm of his hand!! Thank you again everyone!! Romans 8:28 - And we know that in all things, God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

Thanks for all the prayers !!

there is hardly __NEVER leftover civilian tags other than the dec cow which equals no elk they are gone
-
if you read the regulations you have to be retired or active national guard to hunt in the limited area - the buffer area is for the civilians - you can only apply for left over tags if you are national guard or retired military in the second drawing- exmilitary means nothing - you are a civilian anyone is eligible for the 3rd over the counter tags if any are left! thought you quit hunting the depot Don - quit tellin your friends - lol remember there are very limited # of civilian tags-- I applied for 4 different depot hunts #'s - I applied for chance at a total of 10 tags - my whole elk season was limited to drawing one of 10 tags available to civilians - I applied archery rifle and muzzleloader- I was unsuccessful - though ive been drawn before- i'll not make this mistake agin - I prefer better odds!! there are approx. only 25 civIlian tags split between the 2- archery seasons the 2- rifle and the muzzy hunts-- that is for both bull and cow if you draw there are lots of restrictions - remember you are a civilian on a military base!! their rules period! you basically have a mile wide strip around the base to actually hunt - on basically 3 sides - each approx 5 miles long - that's it ! 99 % of the elk population beds in the limited area and you have approx. 1-2 hrs in the morning to catch them coming off 6b-rogers lake or garland praire- same thing in the evening leaving the limited area - that's it! I appied an drew and was issued a leftover second drawing national guard tag last yr - I had to give it back to g&f because I was ineligible to apply for it - my mistake - they also kept my 121 $
-
only update - she"s stable but in serious condition- they had worried about blood on the brain due to the swelling - good news - she's moving around a bit

be prepared for lots of hunters/ guides - one of the most sought after tags is bull unit 9- expect lots traffic -you'll find every water source has a trail camera or stand /blind. find water and then backtrack to bedding areas -if possible or ambush at a fence crossing close to water pray for rain as this helps to get isolated patchs of water - find a hidden wallow along a little creek some where - use google earth to get an idea of possible spring areas off the main drags great tag!
