Will forest service shut down roads due to mud?
elkaholic replied to AZHUNTER05's topic in Elk Hunting

elkaholic replied to young-coueshunter's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
113 4/8 -
unit 8 is not your typical coues country - they are scattered along the edges of canyon country. check G&F site for best areas !! sycamore has populations of coues , the lower the better - down towards the verde

Mossberg 500 barrel has the bolt stub that screws to the top of the shell tube the stub has been welded before - lasted 12 yrs just needs to be rewelded I used a dremel to grind off all the excess of old weld so its an easy job if ya got the right equipment . I got a little ewlder but I would leave turds everywhere so a guy with a wire gun would at least look good . I just used my 30 in full choke barrel this evening - was invited by a friend - the high flyers were still a challenge but ended up with 9 couple of the rudest hunters tonight - we got there by 5:30 spread out givin 100 yrds between shooters 4 of us - send the young guy to the best spot - a truck comes and parks right on top of him - less than 100 yrds from our truck - I had gone the other way - I didn't know they basically set up right where he was standing. when I came in for extra shells - I told them straight out it was total B.S. that they parked so close an took over his spot - I reminded them that if they were here first on any of our next trips I was gonna park ruight next to them and walk out and hunt in the middle of them - fair is fair - total jerks- I can be one too if treated that way first! its still the law that a shotgun can only hold 3 shells - several times I heard at least 8-10 shots in a row - they were flingin lead fer sure.

Bobcat stalking a coues doe
elkaholic replied to lionhunter's topic in Predator Hunting and Trapping
yep- had the pleasure to watch a bobcat attacking a coues buck a few yrs back- it circled and actually jumped on the deers back/rump and ended up doing summersaults thru the air and landed in the rocks but still was very aggressive towards the buck. who just bounded off , once he had enough ! things like that happen so fast its hard to believe - let along get the video.! -
Is Coconino enforcing the Travel Management Plan??
elkaholic replied to Viper's topic in The Campfire
here ya go!!! The Coconino National Forest is asking all northern Arizona-bound hunters to refrain from leaving their trailers unattended in the forest during the upcoming hunting season. In previous seasons, law enforcement officers have found numerous trailers parked in the forests for the purpose of reserving a location for the entire hunting season and also because the individuals did not want to haul their trailers back and forth. #Parking a trailer in the forest for this purpose violates Forest Service regulations. If trailers are left unattended for more than 72 hours, the Forest Service considers them abandoned property and may remove them from the forest. Violators can also be cited for this action. Enforcing these regulations protects the property and allows recreational users equal access to national forests. #This regulation applies to all national forests in northern Arizona, including the Coconino, Kaibab and Prescott forests. #For more information, contact the Coconino National Forest at (928) 527-3600. . -
Is Coconino enforcing the Travel Management Plan??
elkaholic replied to Viper's topic in The Campfire
its kinda make or break for the nfs - they made the law and have been basically turning the other cheek so to speak . I believe they will make an attempt to get things under control and issue tickets - the warnings are over - the I didn't know crap isn't gonna flush. the guy needs to have a badge that state nfs law enforcement! -

Surgery at the VA today keep me in prayer...
elkaholic replied to hoghntr's topic in Prayer Requests
first visit to VA - had to check for hernia - of coure since I had not been processed to have a regular doctor - had to wait for one available - I get a lady - so much fun to find out no hernia - which I knew but needed doctors ok to work. Looks like VA back at the top of my list as no other options for me. fer joy! -
to me - to the right and down is a much bigger lion track - you might have a mating pair cruising- I would say possibly a male and female traveling together I do not see the claw makes which can help distinguish a bear track which would be a much deeper imprint in that type of wet /muddy soil
-
you don't have to spend a lot - sure quality is better but for first tripod -go a little more inexpensive - try craigslist
