    Taxidermist Warning

stuff hanging in a shop is usually their best work - something they spent a lot of time on just for that purpose most ricks stuff was from the different seminars etc where he displayed one maybe 2 mounts - and they were ok . not all taxidermists allow people in the back room - this is not an isolated case of one bad mount - this is unacceptable - Mark that does not look like your cape - not even close to the same white roman nose beast you killed complain where it'll hurt the most as stated in my previous post obvious he's not going to come on here and defend hisself cuz what we've seen and heard from numerous people says it all!

    Taxidermist Warning

Here's a tip - as far as policing-- Most taxidermist belong to an Association - They show a list of members -- It never hurts to show and tell - enough complaints -- with proof -- will shake things up a bit.

What are you supposed to do?

looks like recyclable metal to me - is that kinda like littering or leaving an item unattended . just put a trail camera on it and you will have very forest ranger and warden stopping to remove it! sign in can be a good thing( when needed ) but if they are not even close to having it maintained or monitored - another waste of time and money on a program that is lost or forgotten and really not that important anymore. my trusty swiss army knife - I always have a pen -scissors - tweesers -watch etc all in one as for paper - always got a pocket full of napkins which have all kinds of uses

    Taxidermist Warning

there is no excuse for this type of service from anyone in the taxidermy profession - especially when your name and your word is what gives you business. I've been holding off - RICK where are you ! No excuses - No bull chit - WHY - the simple truth is the best way to do business - if you are not a man of your word - you have no business I never like to judge people without the real facts - but from what I see here and have been told - your dealing with clients is full of lies and deception. The work show here on CWT isn't quality work- it isn't even close to meeting the clients request - especially when you agreed to do job to certain specifics and in a timely manner - and get paid in advance- and you are not even doing the work - how can anyone make a sucky looking horn mount and call it euro mount - unacceptable ! It's embarrassing !! I wouldn't even hang them on my wall the turkey mount/ antelope horn mount -- from time of agreement --- until the client , on there own after hundreds of conversations / lies / excuses over an extended period of thime , finally had to go get it themselves.- unacceptable the other antler repair was the worst thing I ever seen - whats the excuse for that !?? this may seem like a bashing - but when we see your results and hear the tales of how you have done business and treated clients , what other conclusion can be made .

    Well...this is a first

That's as close to an all "nudist " on can get and not really get arrested here in Az. It's not uncommon to see this type activity around AZ., when the snowbirds get here . Guy figures its better than the snowbanks back east .

    Jumping the string?

I order for a piggy to jump string - drop out of the kill zone -- several inches - he'd be down on his knees they are only 6 inchs off the ground the way it is - lol
  14. elkaholic

    Jumping the string?

I never really worried a lot about making loud noise while stalking piggys - they spend to much time with there heads stuck in different places. use the wind - walk /stalk as quietly as possible and it should n't be a problem any old hiking / hunting boots for piggys will do. even if you get caught right out in the open - just try to remain still and they shouldn't really get spooked

    Alot of dead elk

elk usually avoid ice covered streams ! - maybe spooked by something ? what a waste

    Freezer space for cape?

I got a spare in my shed -- its empty- a smaller 5 footer size but I live in N phx you could use for your cape or you could buy it for like $75

    Jumping the string?

it's usually the excitement - piggy fever like always pick a spot - concentrate on the white band just behind the front leg - 1/3 way up - look to hit the stripe just be glad you've been into the piggys twice already piggys rarely jump the string - they do look a lot bigger when they raise their hair- aim small 30 yrds is normal for these little critters - but its easy to get closer

Pay it forward - I will start

All we ever try to do is get a few items for the free raffles at the youth camps - its a very little incentive when associated with the learning experience of the hunts with family and friends . mooching- free handouts - have you ever participate in any youth hunting camps - these kids get up early and hunt hard the whole time- they don't expect anything - they put in the time and effort to have a successful hunt- most times getting a taste of tag soup usually items that are raffled aren't super valuable - an old pair of binos - a used tripod - camo gloves or hats - a camp stool - headlamps - if you ask me they did earn them just saying think of the kids they will remember and use these items on future hunts. I'm passing the torch on starting a new thread - nobody listens to me anyway - lol why does it take a new thread - this one has 13,000 views - if most haven't gotten the hint or passed one the word - they Never will

Pay it forward - I will start

Kinda what I've been doing on and off for a while here and on other hunting sites - to give stuff to the youth camps previous 2 posts in oct - had little effect . Passing it on is a great concept- whom will benefit the most - I think our young hunters need all the help they can get! if all it takes is a new thread - I'd be happily surprised!!

    1st Elk for me

way to go!- tags filled- meat in the freezer - done deal
  22. elkaholic

    need advice please!

nice looking buck - right at 100 from the looks of his tine lengths the only reason I ask how far a shot cuz at 300 yrds across a canyon or hillside and you have to circle around to get there - things never look the same
  23. elkaholic

    Ethics

Just for definition - what do you call moving to another spot- 50 yrds - 100 yrds - 1/4 mile or hike the 3 miles back to the truck and drive 5 miles and walk into another hunter in that spot If I'm in a spot and someone sees me I'd rather they turn around and leave instead of coming over and disrupting my hunt. 9 chances out of 10 they will come over chat and still walk in the direction I expected to see an animal coming. never fails Not much anyone can do really - just hope it doesn't happen every day As far as cameras I have a few out and expect them to disappear but so far I've been lucky. while scouting I do chat with others whom happen upon "MY SPOT" and I'm not as honest as they'd like but hey they guess I'm here for a reason and you can bet a dollar to a dime they will return. sharing information goes so far and before you know it one guy tells another and then the word spreads and you have guys showing up - whom never would have -only on the conversation that I seen this guy and he had a camera up - so lets go hunt there, do not let others change your plans - try to be "polite" and adjust your hunt accordingly ! cameras are a tool to get information - they don't claim anything - get over it already I'd be out checking the cameras in "MY SPOT" today but dang head cold and with all the snow - I'll wait a day or 2 - piggy guys will be all over the place and a few deer guys too - hope the roads / snow turned a few back - lol hey naturegirl - does that mean I got to find your camera to get your name and number - lol did you draw a turkey tag ?

    No Burn Days

if they show up - it will be at homes in the wealthier part of town as they know them there folks would be able to afford the fees . never smell a lot of smoke in n/w phx compared to south and s/west phoenix Last I heard there was only a few of those type inspectors to handle metro phenix and they only go out on complaints and they do not like to go out and spoil their own holidays to screw with people

Rare gray wolf seen at Grand Canyon may be dead

what I find hard to believe is the wolf travel 450 + miles - no mention of anyone ever seeing it along the travel route - for no apparent reason other than trying to find a breeding partner - give me a break!
