punching holes in paper is practice- taking a calm concentrating shot at whatever distance - most will say this makes in the field hunting shots easier - kinda like instinctive shooting- it just happens 90%+ shoots taking in the field are anything but a calm standing shot while being able to take your time and concentrate the further the distance the % of accuracy can and normally will make for poor shot placement under even ideal shooting options while in the field . like many have said guy hits paper quarter size groups out to 60 yrds - goes hunting and completely misses an elk at 30 yrds . I've wondered why over the yrs these 3d shoots didn't involve some simple physical type challenges thru out the courses between and just before shooting . results would change dramatically wheres the "program software " for that try it at home walk fast or run even a short distance and then make a shot as quickly as possible - might surprise you chasing elk or any animal over Az terrain and finally getting within 100 yrds or less--- changes everything that's not taking into account --- do you have a clear shooting lane for these long range distances

Now I'm a large guy and the drivers seat is the worse most uncomfortable piece of crap ever installed in a truck cab never been ace sore before while driving till I owned this chevy. screw all the gadgets - put a decent seat in them . get rid of that HUGE suitcase inbetween the seats I'll never buy another one !

Random question in Coues elevation habitat changes
elkaholic replied to Bitter24's topic in Coues Biology
Generally deer live their whole lives in a core/zone 1-2 mile square area - elevations will vary depending on if the core is in the flats or in the higher elevations Bucks tend to have a wider Zone of travel then the does highly unlikely that whitetail bucks will travel great distances just to get to higher cooler elevations Bucks that live up high will tend to stay there - bucks in the flats will do the same just like when you bugger a big buck out of the little bottoms of a side canyon - up over the top he goes - wait a few days and you find him right back in the same general area Food and water dictates how far they will travel - get a dry spell and the tanks and habitat dry up they move accordingly- get the wet season and they are right back at home agin just my .02 its has been and always will be - find the does and you'll find the bucks during the rut early archery and the antler growing season changes how bucks act - they won't travel far and water is the main deal that early in the hotter seasons -
nice rain last night !

would be great if it was the firing squad death sentence in the USA means nothing more than yrs in jail - it can last 20-40 -60 yrs we'll spend 100rds of thousands keeping this ????? alive over the next several decades

Edge join the crowd - not hearing rattlers is no joking matter - I made the step - hearing aids - surprised how noisy things are now - lol never worn snake gators - never will - 50 some yrs hunting Az and have luckily never had a tooooo close encounter - a lot of close ones - just makes you get a better feel/ respect of nature I've slowed down and take a second to actually look where I'm going- I understand most places we walk one can not see the ground, with a snakes natural camo - we tend to not see them either just remember to be careful when in places snakes like to hide out - under trees/ rocks in areas around water - rarely see them to be honest - doesn't mean they are not there - chances of just stepping on one in the open is slim .

old timers call them = 100 yr floods - like we get them every one hundred yrs - I remember (2) 100 yr floods in a row - wiped out every bridge but the temple mill ave one and they were genuinely worried about it going seen several over the years where you couldn't cross the tonto by Pumpkin Center We can get a lot of rain at different times in different areas of the state - look at last yrs flooding a few yrs back we almost lost Ash Fork bridges under the 1-40 Weather men can say rain 10 % - 20 % - whatever but the way storms develop here in Az --one never knows how bad it will be till it happens
-
but he doesn't say where - opening hrs at bass pro before the crowd arrives
-
picture of him behind bars would be priceless- then post on his website as often as needed

Thats on my bucket list in the upcoming years - making a trip to Yellowstone - guest ranch ?! who said guest ranch
-
I would not say the mother bear charged anyone - looks like she was looking for the fastest way to get off the bridge. when she sees the end of bridge she goes faster when one cub got behind, then she came back and then they all left agin . I don't see where she charged at tourists. Getting photos of wild animals can lead to dangerous situations , especially with a mom bear with cubs but I do not see it in this clip a bunch of idiots - possibly but it wasn't like they were crowding her - she just wanted off the bridge too the people were just following orders to get off bridge - from the warden - " keep going " Its obvious momma was moving a lot fasters than the geezers

Great Photo -- I can remember at least 4 times over the years heading up north to Turkey hunt in May and finding the woods coated with the white stuff. kinda like Phoenix yesterday - May 8th and the highs were in the 70's ?? No complaints - love the cool weather
-
Now that is funny - Bob - but not a bad idea -
-
looks like a shooter - - maybe on the last day-- how long since you been elk hunting ? that's a nice bull but 10 should hold a few monsters especially on that early hunt
-
the majority of the bigger bulls from unit 10 are most likely off the BO not necessarily from less pressure from hunters but the remoteness of the areas these bigger bulls tend to call home . It's time and knowledge of these areas that helps tag holders get onto these bigger bulls - which equates to guided hunts as most people do not have the time to spend scouting. Even worse now with the limitations placed on the BO by the new "owners" the farther North you get in unit 10 the harder the access thus the bigger the bulls good luck to all the tag holders

I made a donation - every little bit helps -
why bother - I got a 2013 and have no intention of using flex - fuel -- averaging 18+ on my 5.3 on regular

The $500 offer to apply online is cool to get people to apply earlier than the deadline thus avoiding the traditional crash/ pile up we've had for the past several years. wouldn't it be a lot nicer if there were 5 -- $100 dollar winners I'd rather have 5 chances at $100 than 1 chance at $500 - just me
-
I'd say buy a few for me but " I never win anything " lol remember me saying that - lol can't make it but good luck on all the raffles and have a great time everyone.

ok guess I'm out of the loop on --- FAIL - equivalent to gun safety - equals morons handling guns
-
what failed - that the moron underestimated the power of .500 nitro in a pistol - gun didn't fail - it fire the round safely - no damage to the gun . just a moron thinking he could hold it !! seen the same thing with the .45-70 round shot out of a Thompson - split a guys face open when the front sight wacked him .
