  4. this the news release from us wildlife Defendants Reach Plea Deal in Helicopter Harassment Case (FLAGSTAFF, Ariz.) Two individuals accused of harassing wildlife with a helicopter have signed a plea agreement with the U.S. Attorney’s Office. Chad Logan Smith, manager of a ranch in northern Arizona and Christopher Morris Atkinson, a contracted helicopter pilot working for the ranch, agreed to deferred sentences for their role in the August, 2014 incident. According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, both men admitted to harassing a pronghorn antelope with a Robinson R44 helicopter piloted by Atkinson, near the boundaries of the O-R-O Ranch and Fort Rock Ranch on August 22, 2014. Originally reported by hunters and investigated by the Arizona Game and Fish Department, the case was completed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the U.S. Attorney’s Office. Harassing wildlife with a helicopter is a federal offense (a Class-A misdemeanor), punishable with a maximum fine of $100,000 and up to six months in prison. In statements included in the plea agreement, both Smith and Atkinson admitted that despite knowing the proximity of a helicopter would disturb the pronghorn, “We continued to do so, resulting in the pronghorn antelope fleeing or being chased from the area.” U.S. Magistrate Judge Deborah M. Fine accepted the plea agreements, which will defer judgment and sentencing for a period of four years to allow the defendants to demonstrate good conduct. According to court documents, during the 48-month deferral period Smith and Atkinson must not seek or obtain a hunting permit or engage in any hunting activity in Arizona or elsewhere; and not operate a helicopter in Arizona. Chad Logan Smith also must forfeit his hunting guide license to the Arizona Game and Fish Department and divest himself of ownership or financial interest in Vaquero Outfitters or any other commercial hunting interest. If the defendants abide by these terms, the U.S. Attorney’s Office will dismiss this case on or before December 13, 2019, with no further proceedings. Failure to abide by any of these release conditions, could lead to a new hearing and proceed to sentencing.
  5. kinda hard to round up cattle outside the fenced area . especially when you supposedly coordinate it during an antelope hunt I think AZG&F left this in the hands of the US wildlife services - as it involved air/animal violations - I'm afraid its over - Our G&F will do nothing - it's probably all part of the plea agreement . I think they had hoped for stiffer fines and punishment also . Sad when repeat violators can thumb there noses and middle finger at our hunting laws and get away with minimal punishment all I heard was - the whole hearing is available at the us wildlife services.com though I can't find it how is anyone - the us wildlife or G&F going to make sure that this guy doesn't violate the terms if he only hunts behind closed private land

    FIREWOOD

It's cold out there - need a little extra wood on hand Citrus is great burning for the holidays Dried citrus is usually bark free ,which makes for clean storing and handling, less mess Citrus is easy to split , it burns cleanly with a little aroma and burns longer than softwoods , with no popping and little smoke. It's that time of year - enjoy a warm comfy fire tonight! Really great for those outdoor fire pits - no need to worry about a lot of smoke!- lol

Unit 10 Bulls tags to decrease next year

they just raised the elk no.s last yr by 75 tags just in the muzzy hunt so taking those away meant nothing never should a been a 100 early rifle in 10 either taking 50 from 550 general rifle at 25% thats 10 bulls bet the archers in 10 are going to love the tags cut in 1/2 so taking away 200+ bull tags isn't going to change anything say a max 25% harvest --- so is taking 50 less bulls going to make a significant difference We need to stop killing off all the COW ELK to replenish the herds which will produce more elk and hopefully more BULLS they have been offering 1600 cow elk tags in 10 for a lot of years - YES -- it is great to see that tags are being reduced in unit 10 back as far as 2004 they have been offering 1400-1600 cow elk tags in 10 with an average of about 25% lets just say 500 reported cows a yr. times 10 = 5000 less cows I'm not a numbers guy but when you figure out the loss of reproduction - its in the 20's of thousands of elk want to have more bulls to hunt ? save the cows!!

    The Red Sea!

Last night was my first in the stadium chance to watch an official NFL game - I was not disappointed in the magnitude of the cheering fans and the overall awesomeness of the game spirit from both sides Like Edge just stated - Cards performance was lackluster from both offence and defense- whom ever is calling the plays must not have been watching the game running game up the middle was a waste especially on 2nd and 18 as they had been stuffed every previous attempt. the right outside pass from the Vikings was picture perfect - wide open at least 6 times - no offensive Cardinal defender within 10 yrds of the guy -- hope they fix that hole before the next game penalties and interceptions and sacks fumbles were game changers as usual Great time - Great Game - Great Friend ***Thanks Edge ***

AZ G&F Major Draw Problems-BE AWARE

tzspeck- with 31 posts you are most likely fairly new to the site most of us on here have been lets just say 'disappointed " with the draw application online system / process for several years . the safer part about paper apps is rather funny-- as they G&F wants to do away with it completely - lol I'll not go into the "rant " stage and just say a lot of hunters have been experiencing major draw problems the past several years and from the looks of it nothing will change in the near future calling /writing and complaining usually falls on deaf ears when it comes to G&F

    WOW really?

As far as taking people to or giving information about a secret spot - there is no secret code of conduct - the old this is my spot don't ever tell or come here without my knowing __ is kinda naïve these days every yr is different - as far as populations of birds - I've had people tell me later - oh that place theres no more birds I quit going there - last time I was there it was better than ever - As far as big game I share with people in hopes they have a chance at success - places I've been and hunted and sometimes even a secret spot - chances i'll only draw one maybe 2 more times anyway so let others have a secret spot to hunt by the way NOTHING OR NO PLACE IS A SECRET FOR VERY LONG
