  1. looks to me like gowan was/is like weiers he tried to amend the bill with weiers to gag order the G&F . hes part of azsfw as far as I'm concerned- why would he be favored ? this was part of the 2072 and directly from him to shut up the G&F! as an amendment on omnibus g&f bill! http://www.azleg.gov//FormatDocument.asp?inDoc=/legtext/50leg/2r/proposed/h.2639-p2-gowan.doc.htm&Session_ID=107
  2. I was thinking about who in our state legislative positions to sponsor any new bills that may be needed
  3. Game and Fish needs a new champion to help with legislative issues - gowan is out - so who do we get to help us achieve much needed upcoming legislation ?

it's not like its just arizona - though we indeed need to be aware of this disasterous issue .if ya go back they have been eyeing the kaibab for wolves since 04. http://www.sierraclub.org/sierra/201203/create-national-monuments-107.aspx
  6. we tried to bring this to light in JAN. 2010: azsfw legislation recommended SB 1200 Game and Fish Commission Appointment Recommendation Board – Passage of SB 1200 over the objections of Arizona Game & Fish Commission (3-2 vote), Sierra Club, Defenders of Wildlife, Arizona Audubon, and Arizona Wildlife Federation to provide certainty that sportsmen have a voice in the future selection of game and fish commissioners HB 2619 Game & Fish Commission Process Bill - Successfully passed bill out of House of Representatives and Senate Natural Resource Committee. President Burns refused to bring the bill to the floor so we are currently working with Governor Brewer’s office to draft an Executive Order to define process including dates, etc.\ -------- this was G&F responce: The Arizona Game and Fish Commission today urgently asks the public in joining them in opposition to Senate Bill 1200, proposed legislation creating a new appointment recommendation board that would evaluate and control which candidates for commission vacancies the governor could select. SB 1200 is scheduled to be debated tomorrow and voted on this week in the state senate. The commission asks people to immediately contact their state senator in opposition to SB 1200 and let them know that House Bill 2619 is a much better solution to an open and fair commission appointment process. Contact your senator now by following this link. heres bill 2619-- http://www.azleg.gov//FormatDocument.asp?inDoc=/legtext/49leg/2r/bills/hb2619h.htm&Session_ID=93 The commission expressed concern that SB 1200, if passed by the Arizona Legislature, could threaten the current commission system by granting greater influence to a select group while weakening the public’s voice in wildlife management. “This legislation would lead to, and is intended to lead to, a commission made up entirely of people with similar views, similar backgrounds and similar intentions,” said current commission chair Jennifer Martin from Phoenix. “If this bill passes, and the majority of our stakeholders are disenfranchised and most Arizonans are left out, our broad support base that’s always waiting in the wings to protect the commission system, if necessary, will disintegrate.” ---- In late 2005, governor Napolitano nominated Jennifer Martin to serve on the Arizona Game and Fish Commission. Martin was highly qualified but heavily opposed. At her Senate confirmation hearing a member of the AZSFW raised concerns regarding Ms Martin's status as a single mother and her ability to focus on the job at hand. After the Senate failed to confirm Martin, the door was left open for the Governor to seat her. Ms. Martin served well that first year and there was little opposition when she was confirmed by the Senate. AZSFW went to work crafting HB 2235 which was filed by Rep. Weiers in 2009. I call the bill "The Jennifer Martin Bill". HB 2235 would have made individuals such as Jennifer ineligible and would have made people like Robbie Woodhouse ineligle as well. About 5 days before the bill was scheduled to be heard, the lobbyist for AZSFW came to a Yuma Valley Rod and Gun Club Board meeting and requested our endorsemant. The YVRGC Board of Disrectors voted unanimously to oppose the bill. Representative Weiers pulled the bill the night before the scheduled hearing. Representaive Weiers and AZSFW went back to the drawing board. SB 1200 appeared on our door step days before the first hearing. Unfortunately we supported the revised edition. A bit of a amistake on our part. Prior to SB 1200 and the Commission Appointment Recommendating Board, prospective Commisioner were encouraged to contact most organitation and present their resumes and seek endorsement. Woodhouse and Freeman and all who preceeded them went through this process. In my opinion AZSFW has effectively silenced the voice of the average sportsman. ----- This removes the 'people' from another government process, not allowing us even the pretense of a voice to the Governor on who's appointed. Our only recourse in the past was our vote for governor to shape the G&F commission, that was restrictive already... example Nappy's appointees and then Brewer... we now have no say as the choice is dependent on special interest nonprofit orgs... socialism, no matter how you dress it. ----- heres what it used to be and what we still need - not a select group saying who we need torepresent us Dear Game and Fish Commission Applicant, Thank you for submitting your application in consideration of appointment to the Commission. There are a number of organizations that are very interested in this appointment and we suggest you contact them to discuss your interest in the Commission. A partial list of these organizations includes The Yuma Rod and Gun Club, Arizona League of Conservation Voters, Southern Arizona Sportsman Alliance, Sierra Club Grand Canyon Chapter, Wildlife Conservation Council, Trout Unlimited and the Arizona Wildlife Federation. [Please note that this list is representative of groups that are interested in this appointment and is not by any means intended to reflect all of the groups. You may wish to contact others as well). we need to remove this bill - we need to find a way to get rid of bill 1200 its been taken over by one group- same thing guys -azsfw - just different names! wonder who made political contributions to Burns in 2010 to stop the bill 2619 from the floor?

    Reply from AZSFW

I know easter is next weekend but this guys thought process is in serious doubt! Oh we of weak faith, not trusting in the almighty azsfw-azsfwc one word comes to mind when i read his reply: ludicrous
  20. ********....The bigger picture that a lot of sportsmen are not seeing is the marketing ploy by some very bright outfitters who will approach a rancher, offer to pay him say $20,000 per year and then guarantee that only his supervised hunters will be on the checkerboard land.... and not the great unwashed masses that will litter, cut fences, create their own roads and generally cause havoc.******* bpj-- how would revenue from auction tags/banquets going to prevent this? oh yeah azsfw has a secret plan - they got all the answers but no facts to back up anything they say. when you take wildlife out of the control of G&F and put in into the hands of the legislators or private groups - guess what you just caused exacatlly what you say you want to prevent !! I guess we are now - how did you say it!! unwashed masses that will litter, cut fences, create their own roads and generally cause havoc.
  21. thought this was news- in case some do not know !!;;; Important new legislation in New Mexico (effective April 1, 2012) could affect your hunts there. If you have recently booked a hunt in this state, or are considering it, you need to talk with your outfitter soon to determine the possible impact of these new rules. It's reported over the last several years on the efforts in New Mexico to limit nonresident permits. In March last year, the reported that Senate Bill 196 had been introduced into this state's legislature and would have restricted nonresidents to 10 percent of the licenses in the drawing, cut unguided nonresidents to only two percent, and reduce the outfitter pool to a total (both resident and nonresidents) of eight percent of the licenses. Before that, up to 22 percent of the permits could be issued to nonresidents and allowed up to 12 percent of the licenses set aside for use by the outfitters. What the recently passed legislation has done is limit the number of nonresident licenses to no more than 16 percent of the total licenses issued, meaning that 84 percent must now go to residents. It also reduced licenses to 10 percent of the total for both residents and nonresidents who are contracted with a New Mexico outfitter prior to the application and only six percent to nonresidents who are choose not to use an outfitter. It does allow leftover licenses from the drawings to be sold to nonresidents, but only after being offered to residents. And, if you have booked for a cow elk hunt for you or your family, the special draw antlerless elk hunts are now exclusively for residents, as are licenses for hunts on ALL of the state wildlife management areas.....
  22. geeze -- you mean it is about money- i sell the tags - i buy the tags - i get my money back from the tags . plus i get to hunt anytime and place and take what i want - the biggest and the best of course . what a novel idea no greed - control or corruption involved - just good business practice eliminate the middle man and save big bucks in the process. All in the name of wildlife- conservation - habitat - youth programs etc. who would object to that. i'm doing my part! plus a tax write-off - who says money isn't everything
  23. please explain this to me - i'm not an accountant off the 2010 tax statement for azsfwc banquet fund raiser grossed : 171,778 ---------------------------- cash expenses ; 1,000 non-cash prize expenses: 190,119 total revenue from the banquet fundraiser -19,341 with hamberlin loaning 50,000 banquet seed money yep trust them with millions
  24. the bottom line is who controls the money ! they are saying azsfw should have complete control - I'm not against the current governor/auction tags - they are doing great for the state and will continue we know g&f has full control of the money. why does this group azsfw think they can do better !?? we can not trust azsfw to give any money they offer 30% they do not say 30 % of all funds from banquet /expo but more like 30% of the funds from the sales of tags the expo could raise several millions the tags might bring 3 - thats 900,000 how do you split that between all the programs ! where were you when this started ? big joke - go away we've been thru this over and over

    tv interview

"i did not beleive like the rest of you that Hamberlin and the SFW was a bunch of crooks" no , not just one! what ticked me off the most was the changing the rule of game bag limits on the auction/governor tags that way these hamberlins-greens- pearces could come here yr in and yr out - at their leisure and take the very best from the herds- especially when they are in velvet- the most sought after trophies!!- not just one but all they want! and the antelope /sheep - people wait lifetimes for a tag these money boys could take one from every unit! every yr. why the change of the bag limit if not to take the very best from every unit in the state! and not just one - all they can afford to buy - ITS TOTAL B.S.
