    Youth Camp Donations

I'd like to express a Big THANK YOU to Jay Parks and Cade Smith of Triclawps. Jay contacted me with a very generous donation of a couple of triclawps for this seasons up coming youth camps. These are an awesome raffle item and a couple of our youths will win a great prize. It's great when people like Jay and Cade offer to help, the" kids" are the future of out hunting heritage. We all know hunting season is coming fast! so when your digging thru that gear , if it hasnt been used in a while or your planning on upgrading to the newest and the greatest stuff . Think of the kids and take the time to donate something to one of the many youth camps that will be taking place this season. Now I've never used a triclawps but I can say WOW - I took one and mounted it on a old tripod -which will be donated for this triclawps, and I can see where it greatly improves the chances of a super steady shot. my T/C looks great and I know it'd improve my chance at a late season whitetail - hmmm If you aren't familiar with Triclawps - you can get them right here at the cwt store Agin a big THANK YOU to Jay and Cade So if you think of any items to donate for an upcoming youth camp - do it! bino's-rangefinders-scopes-tripods-knives-anytype of hunting gear would be greatly appreciated.!

    Is this lion sign?

how to id lion poop :: Instructions 1 Look at size. Generally, the scat of a mountain lion is roughly the same size as dog scat, making it fairly distinct from the much smaller scat of bobcats and the larger scat of deer, elk and other bigger mammals. 2 Check out the composition. Cougar scat has a fairly consistent composition. However, one of the most noticeable features of cougar scat is the presence of a fair amount of hair, usually the remnants of the animal's last meal. 3 Look at the shape. While mountain lion scat is similar in size to dog scat it has some noticeable differences. Mountain lion scat has distinctly rounded ends. The scat is also divided into fairly clear segments, each of which is roughly one inch in diameter. 4 Pay attention to the location. Like most cats, mountain lions are fairly deliberate about where they put their droppings. Mountain lions often leave their scat in the open. For example, you'll find it on the middle of a trail. In many cases, the animal gathers a small pile of debris, such as a pile of twigs or leaves, and then defecates on it as a territorial marker. </p>

    Elk meat to share

dont have a smoker but you can choose any flavor / marinade you like - i think they have some smoke flavors. this is the way i usually do mine simple easy - full cut strips of meat - always awesume i like bourban pepper and my son really likes the lime chipolte. oven drying is no real mess or hazzle or smell takes about 4 hrs at 200* for an oven full i cut meat and soak/marinade over night then clean excess marinade off before drying- this is the only messy part . skewer each piece on a round tooth pick and hang on the rack with foil below as in picture

thoughts on new coconino road rules

i know kaibab is 30 ft from road -vechile parking - now is coconino 30 or 300. the problem i see is theft - talk about making it easy for the low lifes to get access to your stuff , while your hunting! before they took their chances sneeking into a camp- now its just drive-by! this should be a safety issue - not only for the forest and the possible distructuion of roads by parrell parking but the public being in danger of vechile collisions etc. we all know bad dust can cause serious visiblility problems i see potental for a tragic accident ! nfs has their heads up their aces

    wild hogs

a nice article but he doesnt really have much on the facts - if you will do a little checking - there have been feral hogs at havasu on the colorado since the early 1900's if the herd is now nearly 100 something is wrong . he doesnt mention all the areas where pigs are known to exist, they've had wild hog hunting at cordes junction for decades - we all know they can not be fenced in and we've never herad of a boominmg population run amuke in the area - though i'm sure neighbor ranchers are having bacon regularly hunters find pigs here and ther around the state and G&F would greatly appreciate knowledge of any sightings! after you've thinned the herd ! lol
