Nice buck and congrats on the lion too!! You won't be disappointed in the lion meat. I tried it for the first time earlier this year and it was pretty good. Taste like chicken!! Just kidding. It was really good though.

Nice buck and awesome lion!! To share that with your dad is totally awesome!! My son killed a deer with very similar double split eye guards last year. The rack looks an awful lot like that one just a little smaller. There is a picture in the youth hunter forum under "successful youth hunter" His scored 92". Unit 33? One of our party got a lion in there too although not at the same time.

We've used the bleat mostly on mule deer. The bucks do come but I always thought they were just following the does because we have only used them during the archery season in Dec./Jan.

I know they can work but of course they do not always work. A hunting buddy of mine missed a whitetail with his bow from a tree stand, only to call it back in with a grunt call and kill it.

My dad is probably the oldest hunter I know at 69. My dad and Uncle killed elk this year, both 5 points on the same day. Thankfully our help was still with us to help quarter and pack out. I have been hunting with my son and hunting buddies kids for quite a few years and we always talk about how much fun it is to hunt with the kids and see them fill their tags but I think I was more excited when my dad and uncle had a successful hunt, perhaps because it could very well be their last elk hunt.
