Try calling AllPredatorCalls.com... Owner is AP Jones (great guy), same author of Javelinahunter.com and maker of J-13. I know APC.com is in Tucson, it's more of a warehouse not a store, they're set up for online operations, but should be able to ship to you ASAP!

Hey Red Rabbit, Did you ever make it to Ragged Top? Just came across this thread and wondered how it turned out. I too grew with that as my backyard, and love it out there. Seeing 2 rams up there within 20 yards was probably the neatest thing I've ever seen in the wild...

Love the cat in the tree pic!

I use a Sonaran MiniD LR and really dig it...

I agree, shoot as many as you can then see what fits you best... I'll add one that hasn't been mentioned yet... Darton. Not sure where to find one in Tucson, other than K&L Archery on Ajo .

+1 I know growing up on a ranch and such, my dad and all of the "old timers" go by the moon phase when castrating, butchering, etc. due to bleeding less during that phase.....However... I don't remember which phase that was , I'll have to ask... Not that it necessarily pertains to hunting, but might help with trailing blood.... There's my 2 cents

Great buck, great story, and great pics, congrats to all involved! Everyone's got "the one that got away" story, but this one ends the best!

Congratulations Jake! What an awesome buck and awesome story. I read the other thread yesterday about everyone receiving a picture message of this huge toad someone had taken, and then a couple hours ago I got it from someone and wondered if you were who everyone on here was talking about. Logged on and here's your story! What an awesome job, real happy for you, and thanks for sharing the great story! I agree with AZantlerhead.... I'll send you a PM, I'm fairly new on here and haven't seen or heard from you in years till now....

I like that, "bigger whitetails"! I'll use that..... There's Coues and Bigger Whitetail Seriously though, good thread. Got a few laughs and learned something too. Bill, sitting around a campfire with you telling stories would be a treat!

I've grown up in this unit, and love it! There's tanks and holes everywhere, just pick an area... But you'll have to find out which ones have water, you never know anymore in this dry weather...

Had some steaks and chops from this last deer this weekend... All I can say is wow! It was honestly the best venision I've ever eaten. I figured you'd all prove right and it would make a difference, but I didn't realize how much! Very good eats, I'll never transport game in the hide again .....

Though I haven't been in a successful situation with the J-13 yet, I think it sounds great and will one day help me out when busting some pigs. I've seen calling work before, a buddy and I were on a day scouting trip and saw some javelina about 100 yds away from the road and moving away from us. He'd been telling telling me that calling works, so he pulled off of the road and started blowin through his Zepp's Rattler, and would you believe they immediately turned and ran straight to us! Once they started in our direction he stopped and we just watched them come in and cross the road, got a couple good close up pics too. Anyway, I'm a believer and in fact, I've recorded myself on the J-13 and have it looped on my FX3. Try this website, AP is the maker of the J-13 also, very knowledgeable on javis. A great little book comes with the call too. http://www.javelinahunter.com/

Quick update... I did have the good fortune of harvesting a deer this past hunt and completely dressed it right there on the spot. Did my buddies that way as well, I tell you what, it was nice packing that little guy out in a game bag! I'm going to pick it up from the processor in a few hours, so I'll see tonight how the quick work paid off..... can't wait! And thanks for all the advise guys!

I was going to recommend this also! Everything you need to know about these guys, AP Jones will let you know! As well as some people here too I see.... I've never had a bad one either...

I spent 5 days in 36B and saw no one myself, but a couple guys from my camp saw 12 of em one day. Glad to say none of us had problems, but I was always alert and cautious. Really unfortunate that we have to think this way out there. I don't worry at all about the illegals (other than raiding camp I guess) just the smugglers.... Anyway, I think I need to invest in Red Bull also, and Tuna... Did have a great time as always, filled my tag, and so did my buddy!

+1 Agreed... Thanks Bowsniper and AZpackhorse... Happy Thanksgiving to all here at CW.com and your families!
