Good point bud. You very well could be depending on the arrow and your poundage. According to a lot of the charts when your arrow hits a certain length you will need to jump up in spine. At a 31" inch draw you have the luxury of shooting that real heavy arrow and keep up speed. You are one of the lucky ones. I am jealous of people with that draw length. I am stuck with a 28" draw and my arrows are cut down to about 26 1/2. I also shoot a max weight of 61lbs. So when I build an arrow, I use it for everything. I try to stay around 345grns. That keeps me over spined and still gives me some speed. Around 292. I know guys that shoot a 400 plus grain arrow out of bows under 70lbs at 300fps. So you are very lucky. Good luck.

Tuning and shot placement. Spend what you are comfortable with and spend the time making sure you can place the arrow where you want at your comfortable yardage. your confidence will out weigh the money spent. Good luck.
-
Shoot ibo specs and you will be fine. 5grns of arrow weight per pound of draw. 70lb bow shoot a 350 grain arrow and so on. You keep your speed and plenty of energy. The bow will tune great as well.

Lately I've been real impressed with GT pro hunters. Very straight, tough and not to heavy at 8.2gpi. With your graw weight and length you are almost at ibo specs. Build a good stiff arrow right at 350grns and you will have plenty of speed and energy to do just about anything you want.

Nice gun bud. Wish you had the scope still.

I've taken big game with arrows fletched with blazers and fusions. Fletch up some arrows with a couple different configurations and find out what works best with your set up. You can find out a lot of info with some experimenting. Time consuming, yes. But you will be happier and more confident with your set up. Good luck.

Hamskea versa rest. Very versatile and very well built. Can be configured to operate off the top limb, bottom limb or off the cable. Also comes with lizard tounge blades for targets. Very high quality. You can also buy numerous tuning tools that you allow you to check third axis on your sight. I've tried a lot of rests and this one seems to be one of the better ones.

I'm not selling all of my tourney gear. I am trying to condense all archery into one rig for now. My son is now at a responsible age, been through hunter safety and is now time for me to start showing him the way of the woods. I took him over full time from his other school and where he was failing to a`s and b`s. So it is time to start on him with hunting and teaching him. I am not completely done shooting tourneys but, I am gonna concentrate on animals rather than foam. I will have a bow set up that can do both without changing anything. I am very competitive so I will still hit the courses. So, I am trying to gather up some extra cash for more hunting gear. As for the scopes, I think I have a 4x laying around. Pick one, make an offer and I'll hook you up.

To Biscuit or not to Biscuit? That is the question.
wtlathen replied to Scooter's topic in Bows, arrows, broadheads
For tree stands or blinds they are great. I can see where people like them for spot and stalk also. But a good quality drop away is hard to beat. The little rubber arrow holder you put on the shelf holds my arrow great. I shoot a hamskea versa rest and couldn't be happier. I personally have a mental issue when it comes to arrow flight and nothing touching the arrow from the time of release to the impact of the target. -
+1 on doing it yourself in the beginning. There is all kinds of variables. Tuning will include timing of the cams, cam lean, tiller and also making sure your string and cables are installed at the proper lengths. You could easily put strings on a 70 lb bow and end up with only 64 or 65 lb draw weight or accidentally stress the limbs too much and end up with 74 or more. Then you have rest tuning and drop away timing. make sure your arrows are of the correct spine. My honest opinion, if you have a "friend in the business", be with them on the set up. That way you get a good idea of what it takes. When it comes to paper tuning or any other tuning, shoot the bow yourself. You can put the bow on draw boards and hooter shooters and you will be able to get the bow to tune but, it will all change when you put the bow in your hands. I am very picky when it comes to this. I shoot with a lot of people and I can honestly tell you that a lot of them have incorrect draw length. Most of all, be patient. If you rush things things can go south quickly and frustration is the worst enemy when it comes to archery. Message me anytime if you have any questions.

I have a new dozen of these arrows for sale. I did cut them to 27 3/8 carbon to carbon. They have not been fletched or had inserts glued into them. They come with the factory nocks as well as pin bushings and the new and improved hd nocks. I only have 7 of the hd pin nocks because I used 5 of them for other arrows. I also have the inserts and 2 packages of 20gr weights so you can customize the front of center of the arrow. Only reason I am selling is I am going a different direction in arrows. All of these items retail would be almost 200.00. Selling for 150.00 480-452-3834

my last effort to sell these. 100.00. 480 452 3834

these will be great elk arrows for someone. these hunter pros are 8.2 gpi and have a straightness of .001. if you build these with 2" blazers and a 100gr head with the pin bushing and hd nock it will be roughly 366 gr. with a 10% foc. plus with the 20gr weights you can really customize the front of center. with one weight it bumps it to 12% front of center and 2 weights gives you 14% foc. 120.00
