Vandykes makes a formaldehyde solution called "preservzit" or something, anyways you can order it from them and then just use a syringe to inject into the veins that run through along the antler velvet. That keeps them well, and so does putting them in the freezer, but you have to wait alot longer if you go that route.

Sure is! Not even a hit yet. I'm not joking about lowering the price for honey hole information either!

Ok, I'm gonna try using the emoticons to better convey myself since I come off like a jerk most of the time, which isn't necessarily the case... I hope . But I don't think Mormons are nutt jobs . I had, have, and probably will have LDS friends all of my life . And most of the time, after we've had discussions, we generally agree to disagree . Not trying to point fingers at anyone, or slander anyone, or defame anyone, or really even to offend anyone , I was truly wanting to engage in some dialogue on ideas and issues . If we could discuss the ideas presented, and not make it personal, that would be edifying for all perhaps . If not, we can return this thread to an LDS sounding board and I'll go sit in a corner till I'm ready to behave . Was that at all better? I'm really trying here.

My first close-lion-encounter...
Mr. Jonathan replied to mattys281's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Having the camera is almost as good as having the tag! Awesome experience and awesome photos! -
Sounds funny, sure, but it is at the core of the doctrine, even today.

All of a sudden this guy is an expert at hunting AZ. All I wanted was to see some photos, geez.

And he's not even busted at all!

You know, that's a really beautiful animal, and you said you're dad was there with you. If that means the same to you as it would for me, then I say mount it. Scores only go so far for me, but preserving a memory of a hunt with your father is something else in my book. I'd mount it. And I'm 24 in college and living in an apartment too. Just another opinion to throw at ya, either way though, congratulations on an exceptional bull!

Sill no photos huh? I also keep checking http://www.mogollonmonster.com/ for photos too, but still nothing. Guess I'm a naysayer.

1st Annual All-Ladies Turkey hunt!
Mr. Jonathan replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
It's been said a lot already, but I couldn't resist echoing all of the other replies: Congratulations to all of you! And thanks for sharing, this post was a delight to read! Have you ever considered putting together a publication? -
Sounds like a lot of dead critters with no pictures...kinda like bigfoot.

I was born in Nevada's area 7! I'm glad to hear someone else at least knows where it is, let alone kill a great buck out of there! Heck, my first two bucks and my last buck came out of that same area. Thanks for the posts man!

+1 Very nice. It was like having a hunting mag on the screen!

Ah Jeez... There is no such thing as 'But one God' in Mormonism. (As God is, so man may become-LDS theology). Want another round of history and verified LDS literature that says just that? I've got 'em under my sleeve. And C&S, if someone came on here saying this and that about the B&C minimum score for coues deer was 200 inches, don't tell me you wouldn't gently correct them! If someone came on and said you're son's coues deer from New Mexico was actually an eastern whitetail harvested in texas, wouldn't you at least say something? And if someone came on here and said coyotes can get caught by their muzzles in a leg hold and die (yes that was me), you'd probably call them out on that too. Or the typical 90 pound female lion. Or the lion that goes over 300 pounds. I think you like to call things out when you see them as much as anyone. This post is no different. So imagine something so serious that it affects every aspect of your life and potentially the hereafter, and there's a ton of sketchiness surrounding it. Then imagine someone illicits attention for it on a HUNTING site, with information that is just short of being accurate. Who in their right mind wouldn't say something! And for all the comparison about Catholicism and child molestation, you might have a case if the Catholic Church actually condoned the act and made a doctrine out of it. Because that's the issue here. Brigham Young said no man would see eternal glory unless he partook of God's new covenant of plural marriage. And the LDS church heralds him as a prophet! Should we just ignore these kinds of things? Should we just let them slide? That kind of attitude of sweeping things under the carpet is what has led this country to where it is, not because we don't all want to hold hands and sing cum-by-ya!

Not taking the bait? That's cuz the worms were in the original post!

Mr. Jonathan replied to azhuntnut's topic in Predator Hunting and Trapping
Pick it up son, you'll like it! They go great with garlic and lemon, simmer it in some butter, YUM! Plus the little rattles are cool trophies to keep. And you can dry tan the skin and put it around yer cowboy hat. All around its a good deal. -
08 coues mount and score
Mr. Jonathan replied to ultramag's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
I want one of those! -
This thread was started by a blanket statement regarding a site member's religion. This is my first encounter with this issue on the site, but there are some obvious correlations with Scottyboy's observations and what this thread has already revealed. If someone feels its necessary to come on the prayer request thread and open a can of worms when neither provoked or questioned previously by anyone on the site, well, then let's take those worms and GO FISHING! Is a white elephant brown? No. Was polygamy something that happened a long time ago? No, not really, as far as it relates to Mormons anyways. Mormon polygamy started shortly after mormonism's "official" inception in 1830. Keep in mind, that was less than two hundred years ago, 179 years if I can add. Joseph Smith took a certain Fanny Alger, age 16, as his first 'second' wife in 1832. Doctrine and Covenants 132, the official LDS revelation on polygamy, was given in 1843, at which point Joseph Smith had acquired a harem of at least twelve verifiable wives. This became the norm for most men in the church, with Brigham Young advocating at least three wives to be an appropriate number after the mormon sojourn to Utah. In 1890, LDS Wilford Woodruff issued a personal recommendation against mormons engaging in polygamy in response to the American government's ultimatum to either renounce and disavow polygamy or suffer confiscation of the unfinished temple in SLC. Conveniently, since this was issued by Woodford and not God, Mormons could continue to engage in the practice, as long as it was in secret (before you argue this, check the facts, check the history, yes it still went on, prior to the FCLDS). A second, more stern manifesto was issued in 1904 by Joseph F. Smith, and gave an order to excommunicate those persons involved in plural marriage. Oddly enough, Heber J. Grant, who was successor to Smith in 1918, had previously had three plural wives, though only one was still alive at his presidency. It was at this time that the FCLDS began to take shape, as large groups of excommunicated mormons practicing polygamy joined together. Polygamists left the LDS church to join the FCLDS all the way through WWII. The FCLDS looks and operates today exactly the same way as the LDS church looked for the first 70 or so years. The only difference is they have remained true to their revelations and sacred texts while the LDS church has compromised in an effort to assimilate into mainstream American society. Worms is gud eatin' eh? Scottyboy raises some legitimate questions, and in wolf-like manner is swamped, however discretely, by posts in regard to his questions. This is a poor approach to apologetics for whatever religion one might have. So, if its appropriate to use this forum to make blanket statements about a religion, then I'll assume its appropriate to address those statements in like manner. Keeping in mind, that a statesmanlike, respectful manner is most winsome and appropriate, I'll continue to try to act accordingly. Nevertheless, a white elephant, well, its pretty white.

To clarify: Polygamy is not condemned in the Mormon Church, whether the FCLDS or LDS. In the LDS church it is accepted as common revelation that due to American laws polygamy is not to be practiced anymore in this life. But it is the new and everlasting doctrine of eternal and plural marriage, meaning that it was recieved as a revelation from God to behave in such a way. Apparently God changed his mind about polygamy in an effort to help the church survive politically tumultuous times. LDS doctrine states polygamy will be the way of life for those in a state of exaltation in the celestial kingdom. Even God himself, according to mormon doctrine, has wives, not just a wife. Also, mormons were kicked out of New England on a variety of issues even before the polygamy subject came up in Illinois, mostly surrounding perjury and fraud charges against their leader of the time: Joseph Smith. If ignorance is a problem in this society, let's address it from both perspectives. So, keep the facts straight. I'm sure this will be perceived as attacking and a misunderstanding or oversimplification of things, but as scottyboy said, "I'll take that bite." I know a little bit about theology, and if people want to talk about it on a hunting site, well that's fine by me. But I'm gonna call a white elephant a white elephant.
