How big does he have to be!

It would have to go P&Y for sure. And in case you're wondering, that stands for Poke'em Young! I personally try to shoot nothing older than 2 1/2 yo animals. Anyone can kill a mature animal, especially with a bow. The real challenge is passing up the big ones to stick one of the young-ins!

    Single pin sliders?

I shoot the sure-loc sportsmans special single pin. It's incredibly tough and durable- no problems there. As far as getting caught with out being prepared, if you have time to range find the animal you have time to adjust your sight, and putting the pin dead on without having to hold off target like using a fixed pin sight will always help you to be more accurate. I like the idea of multi pin sliders, but the single pin has just been a tremendous help to me as far as keeping focused. This was a good year for a slider sight! And definitely listen to that bowcast episode- the FMP dudes helped convince me back in the day to make the switch.

    Distance

I don't think I have a 100% shot range. The only big game animal I've ever lost was only a 20 yard shot, and it was under ideal circumstances. The reality is every shot you take involves chance. Hunting in general is pitting your skills against massive uncertainty. This is part of its allure, no?

    Distance

If you've ever read any of the early literature on archery, like Hill and Bear, those guys were taking ridiculous shots with traditional equipment. Hill wrote several accounts of shots at game with a long bow over a hundred yards, some kills some misses. And every time he says that it is too far for any accuracy but that was the shot he was presented with. It would seem that this ethics thing has evolved significantly from the early days of sporting archery. Ethics shift over time, and are typically subject to the emotions of the governing culture. This is one topic where people should do what is right in there own eyes. I shoot out to 80 yards. I prefer 50 or less. My longest kill was 50.

    Velvet Care????

This is the NV buck I shot last week, and I just caped him and set the horns in a chest freezer. And this is the buck I shot last year. For this guy I injected VanDykes "Preservz it" into it, and then left the horns in a chest freezer. They came out ok I think. AAA, I'd love to get some of those references from you!

    help tuning bow

ah geez... welcome to the biggest frustration of bowhunting- for me at least. Aerodynamically speaking, aligning the blades with the fletching will do nothing for the flight of your arrow. It has become somewhat of an "old wives tale" but it is irrelevant to the actual flight of the arrow. If your bow is tuned, which it sounds like it is, then more than likely the issue is with how the broadhead sits in relation to the shaft of the arrow. One way to check this is by spin testing the arrow, which allows you to see if there is any oscillation at the tip of the broadhead. This results from the inserts sitting at least than perfect alignment with the shaft of the arrow and or less than perfect alignment between the broadhead and the insert. Its the same concept as when a wheel on a car is out of balance, and will produce an erratic cork-screw type of flight which obviously yields less than desirable results. Another thing to check would be if you're getting total fletch clearance (assuming you're using a drop away). Last season I tried and tried to get the G5 montecs to fly for me, but in the end I just couldn't achieve the grouping that I wanted and elected to go with a different head. This season I've made some changes in my rest and will give them a try again. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

    Coatimundie

I've hear they can actually read people's minds and the only way to successfully hunt them is by wearing a tin foil hat.

    Coyotes Killin dogs

My cousin was riding her horse while her little chihuahua was running alongside them. the dog got a little bit behind her and a coyote just sideswiped it and ran off with the chihuahua in its mouth. My cousin turned and charge the coyote from horseback and it ended up dropping the chihuahua, which ended up being ok. Then a coworker let out her miniature poodle to go to the bathroom (they lived on the edge of a golfcourse) and while she was watching the dog a couple of coyotes came and grabbed the dog and began to play tug-o-war with it right in front of her. That dog did not end up ok.

    South Africa Safari-Pics

That definitely stirs up the fire to go to Africa. I have a question though, if a guy was to bowhunt Africa, could he be successful doing spot and stalk method of hunting? I'd love to go to Africa, but I primarily bowhunt, and all the African bowhunting seems to be done out of huts on water holes. Not that I have any problem with that, just prefer to pursue on foot.

    Wild dogs

At this point you could even just draw a picture of it and post it. I still haven't seen any of these critters but y'all got me so scared I'm packing heat now even when I go shed hunting... or fishing... or the bathroom...

    loop or not

Go with the string loop for sure! The benefits it provides in accuracy and string life alone far outweigh the minor speed loss you might have, and there isn't any noise issue with them either. And the speed issue comes down to only a few fps, totally worth the benefits you'll recieve from using it.

    Another "What would you do"

For a guy like me who doesn't have a clue about most of the country in AZ, I'd think a sign would be helpful. A parked vehicle could mean any number of things, especially if i didn't know that it was parked at a "dead end road" on a "secluded waterhole." We've used signs in the past on antelope hunts where we were sitting in pit blinds at waterholes. Never had any problem and never got upset when I saw someone else using a sign. We also put empty soda bottles in the pit blinds with our information/phone number and intended hunt dates in them. Always worked fine for me.

I'd like to hear your perspective....

So... about those pictures and GPS coordinates, uh, how much were you looking to sell them for ?
