Whoa where can I get that shirt? Are they in the cw.com store?
-
Thanks Amanda I enjoyed getting to talk with you as well. The banquet was a great time! It was nice to get to see your buck from last year too. Hoping for a big one like that this year!

I don't know but I bet he's one cool guy and a Coues killin fool! Just kidding... that's my ride.
-
Man I sure do like that muley buck!

Nope.

+1 All 9 plus minutes of it! I was really offended watching that first Coues walk off. He was gorgeous.

This video and thread are detrimental to hunting in general. No one who hunts stands to win anything from this kind of "fairness" rhetoric. The animals, believe it or not, could care less about our ideals of fairness, a dead animal is a dead animal regardless of how far or with what kind of weapon it was killed. It makes no difference to them. The real questions should be asked about our conduct, why we make the choices that we do, because unlike animals, we can sit and reflect on those choices and their consequences and hopefully become not just better hunters but better people. That is the difference between this discussion and the other thread on "standards." This video does nothing to demonstrate fairness, but rather an exceptional lack of consideration for our conduct in the field. Just listen to the conversation on the radios. Funny how that isn't mentioned in the fairness slant. Is the disservice to hunting that this video does justified by trying to promote a highly subjective stance on what is fair?

That is a gorgeous mount, and a beautiful deer.

So I guess if your talent was art work, then by drawing or painting pictures (doing what you're good at and enjoy) that would automatically make you gay?! Well.... Well put, Mike. Wow, that is really funny.

I just had the same thought today as I retired an unfilled javelina archery tag. I'd be at G&F tomorrow to purchase a leftover rifle tag if that was the way things worked.

Wish I could've made it up there to help, that is a gorgeous buck! Glad Romulus was there to help you get that bruiser off the mountain!
-
Yeah but scores don't describe how stinking cool those eyeguards are! I've never seen brow tines like that.. I am really diggin this buck. Congrats!
-
I'm just curious what you mean by "he's no monster"... I think I'll have to redefine my definition, because I'd shoot him if I could get over the shakes! Great buck!
-
That is absolutely fantastic! Great photos and write up too. Can't wait to see the yeti-buck you're gonna kill next week.

My buddy and I were out calling for coyotess when we came across this guy's tracks where he had drug a mule deer across a road and into the trees. We cleaned up the road in a hurry to cover up the tracks because we didn't have dogs with us and we knew that if anyone found the track before we had dogs they'd run it, and as frustrating as that would've been for us it would have been their right to do so. Luckily, we got dogs lined up before any one else found the tracks. Great tom, 140 lbs after leaking a little blood on the mountain and the skull went right around 14 7/16ths I think. Not a bad cat! But, had someone with dogs shown up before we were able to get the hounds it would've been their cat and not ours.

Haha! Are you kidding? "Steal" someones track? Sorry for your friend but like anything, there's always two sides of a story. Here's one for you: There I was glassing from my favorite spot. I find a 120" buck and make a move on it. I get to the point to shoot the buck and I hear someone walking up behind me. We meet and he says says "Hey, we're on that buck. I'm just waiting for my buddy to drive over here and shoot it." Don't even throw the "ethical" card on the story you shared.... Who's to say who glassed that buck up first? Who's buck is it REALLY? How do you know that track wasn't found the evening before? I'm sorry for your friend because I've been in situations like that. But don't be so quick to throw someone under the bus because they were in the right spot at the right time....with everything to get the job done that your buddy didn't have. Sounds to me that good 'ol fashion "hunting" took place. Did you kill your buck? That's about as much valuable information as is likely to come out of this thread now. Was that the biggun you smoked last year?
-
OK, that sounds pretty reasonable. I'm going to try and get one this year, and if successful I'll gladly let you have the gland... Is it ok if I freeze it after harvesting?
-
mmhmm! That is a great question! If I hear a banjo reference I'm gonna get really freaked out.

Looks like this storm is going to bring in a cold front with it, Friday should have the coldest weather and snow level at 3000 feet in the valley. Should be a great jump start for January and the rut! Good luck to all going out!

Maybe I'm not alone in this crowd after all!

+1 The dogs don't make it easy, they just make it possible!
