Like all those sky islands there are bears all over the Pinals. Hunt the nasty stuff with a reliable food source weather its high or low on the mtn.

Anyone ever use Speer bullets
coueshound replied to sherman's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Years ago I was shooting Federal trophy bonded bear claws in a 270. I shot a bear that was quartering towards me at about a 100 yards or less. I hit him in the front shoulder and knocked him down, he was up quick and to make lone story short I never retrieved him. A few months later that year my wife used the same 270 and shells from that same box of Fed trophy bonded bear claws on an elk hunt. Her first shot on a bull was 35 yrds. right in the left shoulder. Finally ended up killing this bull a mile from her first shot. The bullet to the shoulder had completely blown up. This is contrary to everything I have heard or read but needless to say I have not used this bullet since. Nosler Partition or Barnes copper death ever since no problems -
definitely big league......16A WOW!

I understand these road closures were implemented after the draw. If I blew a bunch of bonus points on a tag and found out the FS changed where I could effectively hunt I might not be inclined to change travel plans.......but I'd at least give it as much thought as the FS did in their timing of the closures.

I've carried a pair of Leica 10x42's since 1992 and used a ton of ziess wipes and the glass is pristine. I do use air and a brush also. The z wipes are great in the field.

congrats on the tag............I've spent quite a bit of time in 32 over the years and there is some great country in there that you can consistently locate sheep. 9284252009 Bob -

New pair of boots wanted for low desert hot hunting
coueshound replied to stalkincoues's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
I think REI carries Lowas.....the renegade gtx has a pretty soft sole .... the ronan gtx is a little stiffer....models keep changing. Another great boot is Gronell.....top of the line stuff, made in Italy, these needed a considerable break in period but are at home in sheep country . look at their websites and you'll probably get a better idea of what would work for your situation. Sierra trading post is probably your best bet for Morino wool socks price wise..............if you locate a quality pair of boots on sierra pull the trigger they go quick. -
