As far as I know it is in tune. String, sight and rest were just laser aligned and it is grouping very well. Not sure I can afford to go to mechs since I just bought the fixed and don't have tons of cash free at teh moment. I still need to shoot more to see for sure. Thanks for the info.

I foud this scouting service from our great forum and was wodnering if any of you had used their $30 map service. I don't have the time I would like to get out and scout much and want to try to maximize m tiem in January. I thought this may be a good option, but want some opinions before i go for it. Here is their site, http://www.desertbull.com/Unitinfopak.htm I already know what unit I would get the map for but don't have experience in it, or any unit actually. Thanks guys! Also, anyone ever hunt the Tucson Mountains? Is it worth spending time there instead of the Catalinas/Coronado National Forest? Again, just trying to make the best use of my weekends in January. Thanks again!

yes i used them three times and the areas he suggest were very good, i harvset a buck and a turkey from the areas in the map, he gives you a general area but you have to go scout. Thanks! Thats great info! I plan to scout while there so to speak. I may be able to scout the 27th. and then its season open in January. Not sure whether I should go with Whitetail or Mulie map. I'd be happy with either as this will be my first deer ever, if i am fortunate enough to harvest one that is!

I love those trucks! That looks like of of the nicest ones I've seen too!

uuuuummmmmmmm......YES!!!!! course I'm still lokking for my first deer, so anything with antlers is a shooter. Even being picky I'd shoot him!

Great buck! Been seing the Claw a lot lately. What backpack is that? I still need to bed a good multi-day pack. Even my camo day pack is too small to pack a deer out. I'd have to be using my bright blue MountainSmith pack. it is very subtle...

Good luck all!! I don't have money or time for the December season, just a scouting trip or two. Now, come January I'll be out there every weekend trying to give em heck and bag my first deer!

I see you are from Tucson, what part? I am too and I am wondering how long it takes to drive to 36c? I am planning on staying in 33 and maybe 37m because I will be hunting only a day or two at a time. From where i Live in Tucson it takes me roughly an hour to drive to where i hunt in 36C which is fairly close to the middle part of the unit. Thats not too bad. If I have time to add another unit to the mix I may check it out. Thanks!

Shooting a 30-06... what is the best grain bullet for coues?
bgirdler replied to arnett's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
While 180 grain maybe a bit big for coues, I would say that what ever bullet you feel most comfortable with, especially at longer ranges, is the best. Many shots are over 200 or 300 yards. If you and your rifle shoot 180 gr the most accuratley then that is what i would use. -
How will the rains the last couple days effect the behaviors of the deer, coues and carp, here in Southern AZ? I went on one scouting trip for bow season and found a good size bedding area and some water, but now the water may not be as big a factor now I assume. I didn't glass any up, just jumped 5 or so. Should I change the types of areas I glass? Any insight is great!

I got my first bow ever last week. I went on my first scouting trip a few days later. It is already in my blood! I haven't been hunting in years, and the last time was javelina. I am on a quest ot bag my first deer ever, and do it with my bow no less. I have pretty much settled on unit 33 in AZ as it is close to me and I will only be able to get out for a day or two at a time. Scouted near the Redington area, saw 5 does and found a bigger bedding area and some good sign near a tank. I feel a little lost jsut getting back into this but boy is it fun! Anybody ever want to go scouting with me let me know. I am always up to having experienced people with me, trying to learn all I can!

I understand and appreciate your concern. I too want to be very proficent before i even take my bow a field. I practice everynight adn am not planning on going until January. The only way I would even go in December is if I feel my confidence and skills have grown to an appropriate level. They are not there yet. This is not my first time behind a bow, it has just been a while. I agree that the worst thing I could do is go out unprepared and not have to skills to give the animal the decency of a quick, humane harvest. These are the honest opnions I appreciate from this forum. Thanks!

yeah, 33 goes from just north of Oracle down to Benson/Happey Valley area. Redington is just south of the middle of the unit. Lots of pressure, but its what i can get to
