Got my mount back!
GRONG replied to matthewp45's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
Hey the walls may be red but at least you get to hang your trophies in the house. There's a lot of guys out there who can barely hang them in the garage. I'm fortunate that I can hang mine where ever I want ...within reason of course! Nice buck man and great mount. I don't think the eyes are off at all, that's a stud of a deer!!! -
HOLY CRAP MAN!!! Those are some sweet bucks for sure! That wide one is SICK!!! That has to be one of the widest bucks I've ever seen. The only one wider I've seen was 19" inside from 6B and it was a 2pt, about 90". Freakin cool dude, thanks for the post!

Dude, nice deer and that first pic is fantastic!!! Thanks for sharing and congratulations.

Younghunter, that is a muley not a Coues. Just thought you'd need to know something like that. DBAcher, dude that is awesome!! Congrats to you and your first buck. Killer bow too! Get ready cause January 1st is coming soon and you'll be able to fling some more arrows.

WOW! Just decided to check in on the site as I've been gone for 9 days guiding up on the Kaibab and noticed this thread. Ya I was going thru Flag a week and a half ago and decided to stop at WalMart to see if they had it yet. Sure enough they did. The way David King laid it all out was pretty cool I thought. After reading it over a few times there's definitely some changes I would made but over all I think it's pretty cool. Glad you guys all liked it and I appreciate all your comments too! I stopped at Wal Mart in Flag and Ctwd and both places are already sold out of it. Hastings too. I'd like to get a couple more copies of it if anyone knows where I can find some locally. I'll have to check the bookstore in the Safeway Plaza in Ctwd I guess. Jason, we've had a pretty good season so far. 2 really big boar bears, a gorgeous antelope buck, a 374" 7x7 bull and a lion a couple weeks ago. I hope to add more to the list by the end of the year. Hopefully I'll top the year off with one of those bucks I keep getting pics of on my trail cams. See you guys!

That's odd they would post something like that. Normally they're trying to sell as many tags as they can ...even if there isn't any deer to hunt they're still pumping out the tags. Seems like they'd love the opportunity to sell as many of those elk and buff tags as they could. Hmmm...

Nice man, nice! Gotta love them 4 pointers.

David that's so freakin awesome man! Congratulations!!! Now you need to get out there and find those broken tips! Thanks for all the great pics and that great story.

I just got my pics back this evening and one of the 3 points I've gotten several shots of in the past couple of weeks has lost his velvet. My picture was dated yesterday morning, the 25th.

The velvet is coming off!

I meant that actual post where I said that. I was having trouble posting the pic and by the 3rd post I couldn't figure out how to just delete an entire post I made to this topic. I guess I can't. Later -

Same bull for sure!! The big bull we killed in 7M was over a mile and a half from where I found the broken eyeguard off of him and that was in just two days. If I can walk 2 miles in an hour you can imagine how far an elk can go in several days. Killer picture. If your picture was taken off a digital camera with a high resolution, crop the scenery out of it and blow that puppy up, I think you'll be convinced then. If you want to send it to me, I'll do it for you. Awesome elk man that is too cool, congratulations!! -
Dan I remember Bob showing me that antler a couple years ago. He tried convincing me that it was a Coues deer but I just couldn't buy it. I'd say muley but that's just my two cents. It is a killer antler though and one heck of a conversation piece regardless of what it is. Thanks for posting all the pics, those are some sweet deer for sure!

Freakin nice!! Looks like those pics were taken at the border crossing.

Hey thanks guys but I just didn't get a chance to sit there this Aug/Sept. I had to guide 2 different bear hunts and a last minute archery deer hunt. I took the guy in there and he sat for 4 days. The second day he had 2 of those nicest bucks come by at 60 yards but they didn't come to the salt. For the next 2 days the wind was so bad he never saw another thing. Looks like I'll get to hunt them for myself come December as I don't have any hunts to guide. I'll keep my fingers crossed that they won't have any busted points and that one or two will come by the stand. I'll let you know though. The only thing I do with my salt licks is make sure all the rock salt I place there is ground into the dirt and then I soak it with water to make it all nice and soupy. They seem to really love that!

These new adapters will work for a lot of high dollar scopes, other than my Leupold of course. DANGIT!! http://www.scopetronix.com/digiscoping.htm

Oh man that's exciting!!! thanks for the pics
-
Man that right antler is all jacked up starting at the pedicle. That left antler is a bomber!! Killer find man congrats.
-
I wish!! He's already busted his right 4th in half and his left 5th is completely gone!!! They were going nuts!

Heres a pic I took yesterday of a big ol 6x6 with my Canon G5. I hand held it and waited till neither of us weren't moving. I took it thru my 15x Schwerbinski's.
