Yup Jim, not the match. Sorry Mike! Way similar though!!! I've bought many sheds from 9 around Red Butte over the years that look way similar. Most were in the 320-340" class as 5pts. I don't know where this one came from but probably nearby would be my guess, not that it matters really. Nice shed!

Hey Josh, you worked alot harder for YOUR set! No offense Nicky but you know it's true What have you done with those sheds Josh? Do you leave them in the condition you find em', or stain and mount them somehow? Jim, Those sheds sit right here next to my computer desk in a pile of some of my other favorites I've found. Would never EVER consider staining them but would like to put them on a bull skull that I boiled and cut the horns off of one of these days. Prolly never will though. They are a kick-butt set of antlers! Major bummer the droubt of '02 kicked his butt so bad or they'd be REALLY big antlers. They're over 390" as they are but they don't weigh a thing. No complaints though, since I couldn't get the rack I'm way happy with the antlers. For those of you who haven't seen the live footage I took of this bull back in July of '03 here's a few stills. -
Bwahahahahahahahahaha!!! Cracks my butt up thinking about them!

That skull says Coues to me, never coulda told by looking at those antlers though.

Dog-gone guys! I love seeing all the pics and short stories! Way cool and congrats to everyone! I've got many pictures that are favorites of mine for one reason or another but this set of sheds really meant a ton to me and took me a year and a half to find them. Then there's my archery buck from this past Dec. What made it so special was having a good buddy there to share the whole experience with me, ol lbstickman Andy himself. Gabe, love the pic and it was very nice meeting you last week! Doug, LOVE the photo too! -
local boys draw local tags.................

coueskiller you couldn't find a shed out there if it was laying in a dry tank! Well, unless you had your special glasses on. I've looked and been skunked in there. There was 9 bulls in there so I guess there's gotta be 18 antlers laying somewhere.

Ok, how bout this set I glassed off of 260 by 13 mile rock.......... It's an oldie but oh well...... Everytime I go to that glassin spot I see something new. That canyon is FULL of big elk!!!!!!! JEEZ!

Gino you sucker! You shoulda thought about my post a little. Glassing up a 190" horn off of 260 is just ridiculous! That would a 420" typical bull....... In 6a no less. Ding-dong! Mike that's a sweet couple of finds there dude!

Bonus Points it took to draw or not draw Elk
GRONG replied to 111's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Took me 5 years, got a tag this year finally. My friend Chris has been drawn 3 out of the last 4 years. But it took him 9 years to draw that 1st one 4 years ago. -
Uh oh! Don't tell me the media and Al Gore's movie got to you so easily az4life.
-
Well since he won't post any MF'n pictures of the thing I'll post this one......... It's 190 6pt I glassed up off of Hwy 260 above my house here in Camp Verde.

Oh ya, Tim I think you might be thinking of Riata. Red Ruby is a young dog Dad just got after your hunt. I think that w/b dog you're thinking of was Randy B's dog and it had sore feet cause all it knew how to do was chase deer. Remember that? Hard for me to forget cause I had to chase her over that F'n mountain, to get all the dogs she took with her, back. I hate that!

This is the one that Dan Lee is gonna do for me.............. Like my Dad said earlier, there's not to many taxidermists that can accurately mount a lion. Especially when it comes to the face I think. Dan is one of the few that knows what the heck he's doing. IMO Here's a link to his site. http://www.artisttouch.net/

Watched that big grey thing coming up from the south, up the Verde River towards Camp Verde and then HOLY SMOKES!!!! We got lighting, thunder, hail and one heck of a DOUCHING!!!! Looked like unit 21 was under water, then it moved north on the Mingus range too. Pretty much the entire Verde Valley got freakin HAMMERED!! I couldn't help but think of all the monster bull elk walking w/in range of my bow come Sept., that's cause I got a tag!! Oh man that was a great storm! I just hope we get a couple more just like it in April and then in May again.

I found this shed after a long day of shed hunting. We were walking back to the truck and it was almost completely dark when I walked within about 3-4' of it before I saw it. LUCKY!! Probably the best coues shed I've found in a while. I'm guessing the buck would go close to 100" if the other side matched.
