I didn't know we were talking about "rifle" hunting since this thread was about my archery bull there Greybeard. I NEVER claimed to be a good rifle shot, nor a good archery shot. But, I shall defend myself........ Back in the days of shooting barebow I did acquire a few 1st and 2nd place trophies and I know I blew most of you guys away, that were using sights, at the summer 3-D shoots. I know you can attest to that cause you were there. As you may or may not remember, and as the video shall attest, the first buck I ever shot at (while you were watching) ducked at the sound of my bow going off, therefore missing him. Seems as if that happened to you on the same tank the year before only you stuck that one in the spine and he got away from us. My memory recalls the same dang thing happening in the same area about 2-3 yrs ago and you lost that buck as well. Maybe the deer in that area are just to jumpy and you need to go somewhere else as I have. I don't really consider ducking deer as bad archery skills either. I'll give you one of those bulls in 8 but the 2nd one jumped the string, had he not I would've just celebrated my 2nd bowkill. Tell us the whole story about your latest bowkill and your awesome "shooting skills". I'm just bustin chops here. I bet most people on this site have similar stories of ducking deer etc......

There's a crappy pic of it on monstermuleys.com under 6A archery bull or something like that. Supposed score is 434" gross. It's BIG!!!!!!!!!

My Dad set up his new trail camera in a draw for a big tom he's been hunting. He made some fake scratches so the lion would stop long enough to get his picture taken. Few days later he went back and saw the tom's tracks headed right up the draw towards where he'd put the camera. Well the lion had checked the scratches and made one of his own, I think Dad said, but the camera was laying on the ground under the tree he'd put it on. Seems as if Dad got his first experience with a bear and how they love the trail cameras........ Oh ya, no pics of the lion either cause the bear had already slapped it off the tree. Jeez!

Ya thanks man. My friend Chris Massey from Flagstaff just killed a nice bull a couple nights ago and is deciding on mounting it or not. If he doesn't he'll get it to me. My feelers are out there.

Ok listen, I've killed 4 animals with a bow so far, all of them with only one shot (other than my 5 arrow fiasco last Dec). My shot was high on this bull cause I thought he was around 20 yards out when he was actually around 13 yards. But hey, it still did the job and he died w/in 45 seconds. What more could you ask for. All I can say is the 2" wide cut on those 2 blade Rage broadheads did the deal!! Those things are UNREAL!!!!! heck, on my Dec buck they went thru one thigh, cut one of his balls in half and then passed out the opposite thigh. Awesome!! Hahahahaha! Ok ok, I'm not laughing cause that one hurt me too when I realized what happened. So anyway, if you've got any other shooting debaucles that I can't remember, feel free to share.......

MISSED?!?!?! And you call yourself a hunter? heck I don't miss...... Well ok, the 2nd shot I took on my bull I did miss but he was running. However, the first one was enough to finish the job.

Standing next to you Darren I feel 4'2". Chris, you're a doofus. Kill a bull already would ya? Don't give me this I've had a cold for the past 15 years crap either. Heck you killed a dang nice bull last year so you got nothing to worry about.

I took lessons on picture taking from the great Chucky-boy himself I guess. Didn't mean to but that's how it turned out. Scored the bull tonight at 312 5/8" gross. Remind me not to ever have azhuntnut as my guide........ Just kidding! Actually the bull scored out at 350 1/8" gross, didn't bother to do the net score cause I just don't care about that. He was an older bull, I'm guessing at 8-10yrs from his teeth wear but that's just a guess. Gorgeous cape but I'm such a moron I cut it about a half-foot to short so no chance of getting it mounted. That really bums me out too. This was my first elk ever too. I've guided a lot of elk hunters to bulls but this is personally my first elk I've ever killed.

Thanks for all the nice comments everyone I really appreciate it! There's a little more to it than the little comments I put in the earlier post. I shot him yesterday morning and by the time I made the post I was quite tired. When I get a few minutes I'll give a few more of the specifics and if I get time I'll slap a tape on it. Thanks again, Josh

Boy oh boy, can't a guy get home and kick back after the chore of busting one's ace to get a bull out of the woods?!?!?! Thanks guys. It was pretty cool how it went down, quite simply I glassed the bull up with a cow and one calf and I walked up the draw and they walked down it. We met each other half way, exchanged pleasantries and then I commenced to send a Rage broadhead through his vitals at 13 yards!! It was way awesome!

I've only got one shed off of him and it's the one I posted as "Isaac's first shed". I knew it soon as I picked it up. I'd have to look back a few years and see if I've got any of him back then. Probably don't though.

Just checked one of my cams today and this big hoss was on there again. This is his 3rd or 4th year hangin in the area.

Glad you guys all liked the pics, I'm just hoping that when he gets all polished out that he'll amble by me with his head up his arse and I'll slip an arrow through one of his testicles just like I did his buddy this past Dec........ Just kidding but I do hope he at least gives me a chance! I'll keep you all posted if I get lucky enough to get any future pics of him.

First archery coues
GRONG replied to tjhunt2's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
WHAT A HOG!!! That's flippin awesome! That's just blind luck and I'd like to have all that kind of luck myself. WOW WHAT A BUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Jim, I never tag my deer on the horns when they're in velvet. In fact I try my hardest to not even touch the horns at all. Screws up the velvet for preservation and the stickiness of the tag would always leave a mark. -
Well ol Geoffrey Lloyd finally got himself an archery coues buck today around 4 this afternoon. Welcome to the club my friend!!!
