Dude I just saw your post finally. My gaydar was going off and I decided to click on this link and here you are! Who knew you had the smarts to actually type. Musta taken you hours to make that post about your hunt story when you type with 2 fingers..... Killer bull man, you deserved it. If you wait another 12+ years for a tag you might be 350lbs though, then what?

Congrats again Mike on your nice buck man. We all had a great time together. Total bummer we couldn't have overlapped our hunt with Phil's for a couple days though. Maybe next time.... Here's some photos of Gail's buck. It's got 18" beams and an inside spread of 15" and grossed 105 1/2". Gail saw the buck towards the end of the 1st day we were hunting and decided it looked good enough to him and took the shot. First shot missed and it let him take another which connected perfectly. It got dark quickly and Gail couldn't find the buck, let alone the exact place he thought the buck was standing when he got over there. Next morning Gail found the buck about 40 yards or so just down the slope from where he'd hit it. Somersaulted into a big bush and that was it. What a relief to find the buck so quickly! We then spent a half hour or so taking pics so enjoy them...... Thanks to Phil for letting us use his Prowler after he left. Good grief that thing is SWEET!! Back at the Prowler with the buck loaded taking a rest. It was a NASTY steep climb to get the trail about 200 yards above where the buck died but we finally got it done then dragged it about 300 yards to the bike from there. A couple more pics of the country we got to enjoy for a few days. And a shed I glassed up but never went to get. Here's a much better picture of the giant 60" shed that Tim is holding.

Sweet MOSES!!! Gotta love it man. Good luck to you guys down there!

Some of those look familiar...... You want to buy them back? I wish you weren't such a total loser.

Wow Bill, sorry to strike such a nasty cord with you. Must be a pet peeve of yours. It's merely said as a generalization more than anything. I've heard there as many as 13 subspecies of "northern" whitetail but when referring to all other whitetail other than coues it's much easier to say Eastern. Everyone pretty much knows what you're talkin about when you hear them referred to that way. For now on when referring to wt in NM other than coues I'll say one of the 2-4 subspecies of TX whitetail.

I used to travel thru Mescalero and Ruidoso buying antler quite a bit and you should've seen some of the giant eastern whiteys I saw there!! Heard of a locked set of 180" type bucks but never got to see them personally but did see many others. Unit 34 over there has quite a bit around Cloudcroft from what all the locals told me. Here's the biggest shed I bought in that area. Scores 85" non-typ. Sure wish I could remember this guy's name but he was one of the Rangers on the Mescalero rez and he brought this buck in he'd killed to show me one day. Heck of a nice guy and a fantastic trophy.

I can't believe how fast it snuck up on us! I'm pumped for sure. I can't wait to hear what type of stuff Jim and Phil see the few days before we get there on Thursday. SWEET MOTHER LETS DO THIS!!!!

Glassed up these two sheds on Friday. Ended up hiking clear over to them only to find out they weren't a set but opposite sides off 2 different bulls shed a few years apart. BUMMER!!! Both of them were old. But dang do I love glassin up sheds!!!!!
-
I think you guys have seen my ugly mug enough on here. Didn't post the pic I had of the sheds cause they sucked. To old and chalky and I deleted the pic already too. Maybe this weekend I'll find something good and post them up. Been slackin on my GRONG orange shirt wearing too, I think that must have something to do with it......

Boy you all are hard to please. That picture is taken thru the spotting scope. Click on the picture to enlarge it and you all might get a better clue like ol Luke Duke does.

Ya I gotta say after reading your story I am truly impressed with you and your friend's motivation to have maybe the toughest hunt in the state and to get it done. Flippin awesome man, seriously!!!

Look at the swollen neck on that sucker!!!! Looks to be in full rut. The deer looks pretty nice too.

It was fun getting the play by play from Scott's texts as you waited for the shot! What a blast Amanda! Congrats

Jason that was awesome man!!! Thanks for sharing!

If in fact you're talking about the one in 6b then it sounds like a fun hike but I'd say it'd be tough to carry all the water you'd need for a few days up in that hot mother. Wouldn't bet a dollar that there's a puddle of water anywhere in that canyon as dry as it's been. Good luck if you go though.

Wow Dan that was great!!! -
Scott that was just awesome man...... Just getting to share a piece of that with you guys out there last week was something I'll remember forever. Congrats my friend.

HAHAHAHAHA!!! I had already forgotten about you taking those pics! Lots of fun though I tell ya. Folks there were times when it was Q U I E T out there and Amanda and I would get the giggles and both of us nearly lost it several times!! I think a lot of it was from sleep deprivation but whatever it was it was flippin hilarious at the time.
