    A new area produces!!!

A good friend of mine took me out to a spot he likes to go sometimes this wknd and we did quite well. I found a total of 22 Saturday and packed out 8 or 9 on my back and a big set in my hands. Most sheds weren't really picture worthy so here's the best set. Scores 375" Sunday I found a whopping 2. Figures! Just when you think you've hit the mother load you get humbled up a bit. Found this one one the way back to the truck.

    A new area produces!!!

About the same numbers as me but about 8 browns to my 2. He found one sweet 355+ 6pt shed that we just couldn't match up. I'll post pics if he sends me any.

Some new ones for the pile

Watched this bull 2 weekends ago and couldn't believe he was still packin. Guessed him around 360" as a 7x7. Waited the bulls out so that a majority of them had dropped and snuck in there Friday morning and within an hour I had his right side finally!! Took the ritualistic pics and video then continued my search for the match. The brush was so deep but I weaved my way through everywhere I thought an elk would and might walk. About 5 minutes later I spotted a tine sticking about 3' up but a couple feet below the surface of the brush. Got all pumped and ran back over to the other one to get the video camera out of my pack not 25 yards away and got back over there only to find out it was another right side off a different bull!!! Excited but half discouraged cause I wanted the set so bad and now I had 2 more to find. Well I pounded the brush back and forth for a couple hundred yards back and forth for the next 2 hours thinking I'd walked just about everywhere I thought I could but couldn't come up with either of the matches! So I walked off into some other country I thought might hold some fresh elk horn. A few hours later I found another nice 350 class 6pt and spent about an hour workin the slopes in every direction I could and couldn't come up with that one either! Sorry no ATL pic for this one as it was to graphic, wouldn't want any lurkers to figure me out. Found several older horns that I just hung up during the day but nothing I felt like hauling out. Here's the day's total of brown horn. Totaled 28lbs in 3 horns so that was a heck of an avg for me. Went back the next day and pounded the same ol country thinkin this time I'd pull out the matches to some of the 3 I'd found but it wasn't to be. I'll try it again soon for sure so stay posted. Scored the 7pt shed, giving it a 15" G1 and guessin the unfound match, according to pics, the set with a 35" spread goes right around 365". New info as of 4/8/10.......... I've been in and out of that spot 7 times this spring so far and have spent many many hours searching for the mates to the antlers posted above and finally this past Friday I found the match to the last skinny antler posted. It was maybe 75 yards from the match I'd found a month ago and I know I walked within 10-15 yards of it without seeing the dang thing. Here it is.... Bummer it's broke though.

Some new ones for the pile

I seriously contemplated the orange but I didn't want anybody to glass me up. Reason being is cause a friend text me and asked if I was wearing orange that day cause he'd just glassed a guy up and he thought it might be me. I don't anyone seeing me then thinking that's my honey hole. Ya catch me? Maybe I'll just stuff an orange shirt in my pack......

    First browns and killer horns

SWEET MOTHER!!!!!!! I love it guys!!!!
  17. In order for any tribal member to sell any pick-up or kill that they have there must be a tag on it in order for it to be legally sold to me and for me to possess it. Their game dept issues "blue tags" for pick-ups and your standard sticky tags for hunter killed animals. If I was to buy a PU head that didn't have a "blue tag" then I'd be in posession of an illegally picked up head and could be cited and the head would most certainly confiscated which means I lose out on any money I paid for it. But in AZ it is most certainly not illegal to buy and sell antlers.
  18. Jim I love your #3 as well my friend, good stuff! Kevin I love yours too and I want both shirts to wear!

So when do they start dropping??(antlers)

I was out scouting to see where the bulls were at and saw one bull that had dropped but couldn't tell how long ago since I was so far away. Around 1:30 yesterday afternoon I glassed up another bull standing under a tree shakin his head and he didn't have any antlers either. He looked sideways and the sun caught his pedicles and one was bright bloody red. I had just missed him dropping it!!! The other pedicle had already scabbed over so no tellin when he lost it. Since he didn't have any horns I snuck over there. After a 45 minute search I finally found it 20 yards from where I'd seen him standing. I know I know, 45 minutes?!?!?! It's just not that easy sometimes and the snow was DEEP so it made gettin around a little tough. Had this bull been with several other bulls I wouldn't have attempted looking for this shed. He was there with 2 spikes therefore I justified myself going in after it. But aimlessly pounding the hills looking for fresh ones right now is pretty stupid. All you'll do is push bulls out of the country and blow all your chances of finding of finding any there later. Here it is, notice the rub he'd made trying to get this one off. Pretty cool but to bad it's broken off above the 3rd tine.

    My son

I've never been one to peruse thru this forum but was drawn to yours Kent. And even though it's been nearly 6 months but I hope things are getting better for you and your family. I never would've understood a father's love for his son till I finally had one of my own nearly 5 years ago now. It's a precious gift our God has given us for sure. Your videos were tough to watch but precious at the same time. I'm sure they were tough to put together and tough to share with your friends here at this site but I can tell you we all appreciate it very much even for people such as myself who don't even know you. But I do know that you are a very blessed man to have had a son like Bret, you're also very blessed to have a wonderful daughter and wife too. Thank you again.......
