  1. Not true Joshy, and you know better . Your outfitter has a permit to bring that stuff across. One of the only people that does. I know that I just was avoiding the whole subject cause I didn't feel like doing any more typing. Truth is that Jim is about the only permitted US citizen who has the paperwork necessary to bring sheds across, no skulls attached! One of these days I'm sure Jim will get the shed to Gail. Thanks for all the kind comments, it really was awesome to be lucky enough to have a buck that sweet come in while I was there. I got the 2 videos from Gail of my buck but one size is 16 megs and the other is 24 megs. Anyway I can reduce them but keep the quality? I've never attempted it before.

    Chef does Mexico

Oh man Hector I thought our camp cook was good till I saw your pics! YIKES!! I woulda gained weight if you were in our camp! Congrats on a great buck man.
  3. All found sheds and skulls stay there, you get caught with one and they can cite you for a Lacey Act violation which runs around $15,000 per shed or skull.
  4. They cross about 3/8" and are nearly touching, only gapped by a 1/4" at most. Way cool!!!

    My kind of Easter eggs

Got out on Sunday thankfully to a family Easter picnic on Saturday. It worked out great with the weather. Got out Sunday morning to about 1-2" of fresh snow. Talk about bright in the morning sunlight!!! Sheesh! Bailed off a big ridge onto small bench I hadn't been on in a couple years. On my way down I spotted a small white elk shed. As I slid down the muddy slope I didn't even realize there was a brown 4pt elk shed about 6' from it in the shade (some shed hunter I am). Got out on the small bench below finally and found NOTHING!!! Thought for sure there'd be brown horn laying the brush there somewhere but no! So I wandered off the side into the super thick brush and a few minutes later I found a decent 5pt and immediately recognized it as a bull I'd found 2 sets of on this same set of small ridges I was on. This shed was dropped back in spring '07. I was destined to find the other side and I made pass after pass across the slope in the nasty brush. Topped out on a little lip and immediatly spotted another shed laying points down in a small opening to my right. Took the camera out and took a pic and spotted another antler laying in the brush about 7 yards past this antler. Here's the one I spotted 2nd Walked a little closer to it for a photo and saw the match to this one about 3 yards away in some more brush!!! Now I had 3 sheds in less than 20 yards!!! As I was taking a few pics I glanced down the slope about 7 yards away and could see the top of ANOTHER antler. I instantly realized it was the match to the first shed I'd found about 15-20 minutes before. So now I had 4 sheds in less than 20 yards!!!!! Never in my nearly 20 years of shed hunting have I had that happen before! So I piled them all up for a few pics, here they all are together. Sorry for the crop jobs on some of the pics but I gotta protect the places I shed hunt by knocking out the background. Packed them all up and hauled them out of the canyon then went for another LOOOONG hike. A few hours later I clambered back out and back up to the stash I'd left on top of a ridge. About 100 yards from the top I walked right up on this brown 5pt shed. Glanced above it and the match was about 10 yards up the slope. Here's the set together. Super long 3rd on the right antler at around 21" but the left antler is about 13". Here's a quick phone pic of the 3 sets I mentioned above all off the same bull. All this made for a long day but it was worth it! Found 13 total and brought out 8 back to the truck so it was a rather successful day.
  15. Oh man that place is choked with bears, simply amazing. Here's the canyon I killed and hauled that buck out of.

    Jay's WOW FACTOR buck

Ok maybe it's just me but uhhhhhhh..... THAT LOOKS LIKE A GIANT BUCK!!!! Come on man post some details! Congrats on a killer deer for sure!! That right side looks to be in the mid 50's for sure! WOW!!! Any chance of posting a few more pics? Ya know, like different angles of the rack, maybe a hero photo with you in it with a lot of background.......
  17. Thanks for all the nice comments everyone! Jeff, ya man I was right across the canyon to the north. But just like when we all went there we didn't see jack squat then either, other than a couple I guess. Heck I'm pretty sure on our trip we saw 5 lions in 3 days, 4 one morning! That was more than twice the number of bucks we saw on that hunt..... Sad but true.
  18. HAHAHAHA!!!!! That's funny. Jay's story was in an issue of Western Hunter magazine about a year ago if I remember correctly.

    The Land Of Giants....

TAM, Buckhorn, myself and my buddies Alan and Gail will be joining Antlerdog about the 3rd week of January for a week of Couesin. We are so pumped its just stupid!
  21. Been wanting to post this for a while, just haven't had the time. One evening my wife asked me if there were any nice buck skulls that she could hang in the living room? My response, "WHAT WHAT WHO WHAT WHAT!?!?!" I know, I know, kinda caught me off guard a little with that one too. I asked her why the interest all the sudden and her response was, "I want all my liberal friends to see that my man hunts!" Nearly brings tears to my eyes.... Anyway, as we were moving stuff around she says, "I want my first buck to go right here." And thus a hunter was born..... My gorgeous and awesome wife of nearly 18 years pulled her first choice tag for this past Oct and the planning begun. 2 weeks before season I started scouting in an old familiar spot I love dearly. Glassed a few does then about ten minutes into glassing I spot a real pretty 3pt buck all alone. Soon as I saw it I thought, that buck looks perfect for Jen! Guessed it in the lower 90's and just figured she'd love this buck. Later that morning I spotted 2 other bucks that were bigger but just not as symmetrical. Watched the bucks all morning then came back in the evening and spotted them again. The following weekend I found all the bucks again and video'd them sparring and chasing each other around. Gotta love sittin behind the binos watching bucks and gettin pumped about the Mrs hunting with me finally. Here's a couple of the pretty 3pt thru the 15s The next day I took her out to shoot a rifle for her first time. We set out a target at 500 yards and she let em rip!! Not bad for her first shots.... After these 3 I said thats it lets go, good enough for me! Loaded up camp Thursday morning and headed for the mountain..... Opening morning found us out there EARLY in hopes of beating anyone there. Ya never know when it comes to public land hunting.... So we got set up in a spot I'd glassed from before and as I was setting up my tripod I unsnapped my 10's from my neck and told her to look thru these to stay busy. She instantly put them to her eyes and just as quick said, "I see one!" I said, "Are you serious?" She looked for a few more seconds and said, "Yeah, it's a deer!" I couldn't believe it, her first time ever sitting behind the binos and she had a buck in 2 seconds! So I got my 15s attached and found where she was looking and sure enough there were 3 bucks together. We watched them for quite some time as they fed closer and closer to us. At first they were about 560 yards, now they were gettin quite a bit closer. I had Jen get wedged into a crack in a big boulder so she could get a solid rest. At 440 yards the buck turned broadside and I told her to put the first line below the main X-hair right on the buck, just behind it's shoulder. I watched the vapor trial as it made it's way toward the buck and WHOPP!!!!! She hammered the buck! A bit farther back than we wanted and the buck humped up laid down about 10 yards away and could tell it was hurtin big time. Luckily it laid down in a spot where we could see it until another buck walked up to it and threw its head at the buck to get it moving. After a couple attempts at getting up it finally did and hobbled just out of sight into the thick brush. LOVELY!!! We sat there for just over an hour waiting just in case it got up and moved but we never saw anything. The other bucks eventually moved off and we made our move down onto a small hill about 150 yards from where we'd seen the buck last. A spike buck walked right over into the brush and was moving around but we couldn't tell what it was doing. But I told Jen that that spike just told me right where your buck is laying. It walked off and I told Jen to lay behind the gun in case her buck jumped up as I was gonna sneak in there and see if I could find it. I crept over there and spotted her buck completely dead!!! I threw my hands up in celebration and I saw her jump up with excitement too! What a neat moment to share with the love of my life. Congratulations honey on an absolute gorgeous first buck! Enjoy the pics........ And yes, that is a GRONG orange coueswhitetail.com shirt on under that camo, wink! Oh and her buck scored 93"
  22. Once again, thanks for all the kind comments. Jen reads them all and says she can't wait till next season! Uh oh, looks like I started something........

So so very jealous.......... Andy like I told you before, CONGRATS you dog!!
  25. I finally got to hold those sheds a couple weeks ago and I can't begin to tell you all just how incredible they are! Was loading up to go hunting at the time and didn't have time to take some good pics to share with everyone but the time is comin cause the ones posted pretty much blow. The right antler alone is R I D I C U L O U S!!!!!!! And the set is 2 years old so if the deer is still alive then there's last years as well as a brown set laying out there now. Just hurts to even think about em.......
