Well if any one cares here's my update on my tag, I contacted game and fish and forfeited my tag this morning and will get my points back. Scouting every chance I got did not impress me with what we we're told about not having an effect on the flock. I know I didn't hear every bird but with talking with the unit manager and looking all Over the mountain I came up with 7-8 gobblers. There's 9 tags in the hunt, not good enough for me and the thought of 9 people in a barrel chasing turkeys. So I turned my permit #1 in. Good luck to everyone come friday

Never was aware of this, and was told even though I'm tag number one the game and fish manager said someone should have contacted you. I'm not wasting anything but maybe opening eyes for those who may have missed as did I.

Every left over I have gotten had goofy permit numbers compared to number of tags. I figured it was just their left over way of doing permits as first come first served.. Who knows

Upland that is one of my issues and concerns. Last year there was ten tags total, two hunts of 5. This year there's 8 tags, two hunts of 4, now the first hunt has 9... Birds aren't the smartest when it comes to hunting so what's the increase gonna do to the flock. They didn't change anything with the draw, applicants simply didn't get added from what we are told and there for got their first choice on their app for merriams. All the efforts to get the flock where it is and simply just give tags away because of their mistake, not good. This post is to make people aware of paying attention to permit numbers and bringing issues out and maybe we can change something... Instead of calling and bugging the office girls with draw questions people should be making their voice heard to the commission and who ever that we need change.

It wasn't a screw up, I put in for the hunt wanting three other hunters in an area that just started to be hunted. All the money and effort into transplanting these birds shouldn't be manage by mistakes and just give extra tags out. It happened to another unit and the hunt was two tags and now there's at least 8. The point is why is our game and fish still going the route they go and having issues every year with something. Ya if it was unit 1 or 5a a couple tags extra big deal. Now your talking more tags then the entire hunt for the year on the first hunt and in the other unit quadruple the tags... When we got our tags we had 1 and 2, congrats critter and good luck. And no I'm not saying anything about accepting tags or not. No one had a choice it just gave them a tag. Listening to a manager at gf talk how they had no idea it happened up here till now and so on was complete bs too, it's just a joke how they run the draw.

I have a complete set of twin kowa spotters with 30 power wide angle lenses. These are brand new and built only to sell to someone, the scopes and eye pieces are getting hard to come by lately but if you want to check them out you will be amazed. They weigh just over 6 pounds and amazing glass. My buddy has a neighbor who has a CNc machine and builds the plates, he builds them as thin and light as we can go without having flexing issues. They are really sweet. It's tough to beat the gods to when you can get it for about 2000 including eye pieces. The kowa prominar glass is really lightweight and amazing glass. He can build a plate for any spotter if it would work, so far he made a plate for swaro 65 and swaro 80s. The plate below is a Swarovski plate and is almost double the size of a kowa plate

Here's my set up, twin kowa prominar spotters. Come in at just under 6 pounds. Smallin size too, 14.50 inches long and under 7 wide.

Gitzo, with the leveling center column. Twist lock legs and carbon fiber. Their pricey but watch ebay and other sites and find a deal. You will fall in love with the leveling column and the strength of it.

You would be surprised on what you can find shopping around

Here's my two cents, my kowa 66mm spotting scope with a 30 power fixed eye piece vs a razor hd 80 with a normal size eye piece has more field of view then the vortex on the same power and is clearer. If you want an awesome spotter and use all of the available glass buy a spotter that will allow you to put a wide angle lense in it. Kowa has a 77mm and 88mm that use a wide angle variable lense. You do loose some time time but not a whole lot, I noticed in my dads elk hunt last year some time waiting for more light but nothing I thought was horrible. There are small details that are not perfect but for under 6 pounds and amazing glass it opens doors to a lot for pack in and tear some country apart

Just remember I'm talkin off my experience with the twin kowas, I guarantee they will work on every eye width, and they will culminate with the plate we use. The plate is simple and it might sound cumbersome but it is easy. I'm going to do a write up on orghunt soon so watch for it if you want or contact me.
