  7. i know its late just have not had time to ppost. but i had a late bull tag along with my two uncles and cousin. i started scouting three weeks prior and had some bulls found that i would like to take. i only had three days to hunt so i was going to try my best for a bull i really wanted but, i knew it would be hard to turn anything down. the very first bull we found to start the scouting trips we called the caribou bull just from the unique top it had on the one side. i really wanted him. but as time went on there were bigger bulls i would try for as well. day before the hunt we went out to scout before opening day and saw seven bulls, three of them would be shooters in any of our eyes for sure, so opening day was looking good. but as we all know elk do read the regs and opening morning we found our selves striking out and not seeing one elk for the whole morning. so we took off for another spot were we had found some bulls prior. as we all walked out to the canyon and the fingers running off the main canyon i jumped my bull out from under me, i made the first shot at 110 yards which i thought was farther and missed. with one quick adjustment i shoot again knocking him down for good. he is pretty heavy but all around he is all i wanted with limited time and this kind of late hunt i am happy with him. plus he is my biggest bull so far. next day after we finished packing my bull out we found ourselves looking at a small bull laying in some brush across the canyon. my uncle was preparing to shoot him when i looked up and saw something else. i told him not to shoot that there was a bigger bull that just stood up in an opening down hill. as soon as we glassed him we realized it was the caribou bull. he quickly got a bullet in him and the rest of it was history. my cousin and other uncle ended up killing a spike and a five point. it was a great late hunt for us. enjoy looking down to where my bull was where i shot from my pops me the caribou bull this is the caribou bull three weeks before the hunt

    2010 has started

started out 2010 with some good memories and my first animal of the year. found these pigs opening day and got on them at first light next day. after an hour stalk got with in range but they were working away from me, so in an effort to stir them up and maybe (woof) one in i threw a rock down the canyon. this boar ran up the hill and gave me a twenty yard shot after some tens seconds. made a good shot and he didnt go far. the last pics are my dad on the pigs the following day, just couldnt get it finished but looking forward to next weekend. enjoy

  14. well i took off this morning to set a camera up on a tank. finnally got the guts to put it out. its not locked up or anything. kind of placed it under a rock. probbably the easiest to steal if they find it. oh well hopefully the are ethical people out there. so after the camera i spotted a good buck across the way and in the opposite direction i glassed a small buck. we drove up the road and got out to get a closer look, not knowing what would happen we lleft the camera in the truck. as we located the buck he saw us so we hid behind a cedar, my puppy (who i got from a cw member), my puppy stepps out and three more bucks step out making a total of four. i assume they thought she was a coyote cause here they come. we hid behind my pup and the tree and the four bucks got to within sixty yards!!! found my new decoy haha. we only had a cell phone at that time to get a quick picture before my pup started barking. out of the four there were two bucks i would shoot. we went to the truck and grabbed my camera through the binos on the tri pod and started snapping pictures, these arre them. hope you enjoy them!!!! bucks right over my pups head zoomed in off camera phone, bout sixty yards the rut is coming!! ha ha my pup mailey from a CW member buck #1 buck #2 i like #2 the most so far, what do you guys think? i have an archery tag

  16. three years ago we were bear hunting in 22 and we glassed up two people on a ridge glassing the same canyon. as we looked harder we noticed that the one had a badge on as it would flash in the sun. so we watched for a second as the female companion got up to walk behind a bush. before she could get there we watched as she started waving her arms over her head and running back to him. then he started waving his arms over his head as well. the both gathered up rather fast a ran down the ridge, we ran into them later and he was working looking for bear hunters (game and fish officer) and she had stepped on a bee nest and stirred them up!!! we all sat there and laughed about it, their faces turned red when we said what we saw.

    Lead poisoning?

lead poisoning is the best way for them critters to go down
  18. well we got out yesterday to get some scouting in for some hunts i have this year. we got up to where my antelope tag is. i have been watching them out there for the last month or so. on the way out one of my partners spotted six bulls in the distance. i have a bull tag in this unit as well, so it was good to see they are growing well. after that we moved more north and ran into the first buck. we stalked him a ways to get some good pictures and they turned out pretty good in my eyes. im thinking for archery if i get a chance at him i will not think twice, after him down the road just a lil more we had this second buck skyline for only a couple pictures. his length is less then the first and has less mass. but his prongs were definetly bigger. from there the heat was turned up so we headed to a local cafe for lunch. our next plan was to head to where we are going to bear hunt. we have seen several bears in the last month, this time we found one that seemed to be one i would try shooting. his color was alot different then others we have watched, he didnt stick around to long so i only got a couple quick shots. in all it was a great day, enjoy.

  21. i have not read in here anything about it but i recieved a couple months ago, it was a letter from either the game and fish or babbit ranches. im pretty sure it was babbit ranches. the letter stated that if any game cameras are found on the babbit ranches that they will be taken down. i read about all of the stolen cameras and wondered if anyone else has recieved this letter. dont know if it will help just thought ii would say something. i still have my brand new covertII and am afraid to put it out. i would hate to have it stolen, it is such a cool thing to see all of these pictures you all put up but i guess you now have to get creative on where you leave them. hope this helps.

    Wet Beaver Creek Updated....

thats awesome you saw the sheep. i posted pictures in another thread that we saw in february. awesome to see them in that country
  23. went out yesterday and hiked down the canyon to a spot where we had some bulls spotted in january and february. we set up with the sun at our backs glassing across the canyon and spotted the first horn, nice six. from there we kept glassing when my buddy spotted a set laying thirty yards apart. from here we had to figure out how in the world we were going to get to them since they were pretty far from each other and we were not about to leave any of them. well we ended sucking it up and getting over there and picking them up plus one other busted up one and some pieces. but when we finally got to the set and picked the first one up we realized what we had found. the long royal and the crab claw whale tale. after we got them together we had some laughs, the bull was spotted by my girlfriend and the times we spent out there waiting for them to drop and seeing this guy then finally picking them up made it a well worth trip. enjoy this is the bull in february in all it was a good time, always a good time

a big whitey and a set from a familiar face

yes it is sorry thought i had clarified that. the pictures of the bull are from february and the set ishis from this year. they were pretty white i couldnt belive it but they are this years. same broken points and everything. plus the horns laid within one hundred yards from where the picture was taken. that bull lost his horns the week of valentines day. just something to keep in mind, thought that was a little early.
