Now thats piling up some bone! Congratulations on a great hunt.

Still quite a bit of bugling early and late in unit 1. Bulls are not real hot, but we were able to call a couple in and get some video.
-
I was in unit 1 with no luck. I did not hunt too hard for bears, but did not see any either.
-
Congratulations! Those birds are tough to get in the fall.

What kind of bear is this? Nutrioso, AZ
Pine Donkey replied to Norteno's topic in Black Bear or Grizzly Bear hunts
I was in Nutri this past weekend. Many of my parent's neighbors were passing around this picture and talking about the big bear. Some are claiming that G and F have sent off some tissue to see if it is part grizzly. One story even claims it had been planted in AZ from Ted Turners ranch in New Mexico where he has grizzlies in a high fence area. It is the buzz of the geriatric, dog walking circuit of Nutrioso. If you hang out at the post office for more than 10 minutes you are sure to hear about the local grizzly that was killed. I was treated a real buzz kill for suggesting it was just a big healthy color phase bear, fattened up on garbage (based on where it was reportedly taken), and a picture taken from an angle that made it look huge. Congratulations to the hunter on taking one heck of a bear! -
Last night Cochise County Sheriff Larry Dever died in a car accident. Larry was a dedicated family man who devoted his life to his family, friends, church and law enforcement. He also loved hunting and the outdoors. His passing leaves a huge hole in Cochise County, Arizona, and the Nation. As a sheriff he did not let politics guide his decisions. He fought for the resources to protect the people of Cochise County at the County, State, and Federal levels. Please keep him, his wife Nancy, and all his family in your prayers.

Wow, what are the chances of that. That is a cool find! You could probably come up with 1000 stories of how that happened. ...the horn was ready to be shed, but still remained prominent on the young buck's head, until the lion attached. The young buck fought for his life, using his antlers to keep the lion at bay. He was a young buck that was forced to watch the recent rut more than participate. His instincts and desire to breed still burned inside of him. Next year he would be bigger and stronger, he would be active in the rut, this will be his mountain. As he drove the tine of the antler deep into the lions flesh, the antler broke free from his head. The force of his entire body which had driven the tine in, now released with the falling horn, and he staggered as he tried to regain his balance. The lion, driven by rage, hunger and ancestral instinct, pounced across the torn up ground and grasped the young bucks neck before he could regain his stature. Unable to defend himself, with his precious blood spilling on the fallen leaves of the scrub oak, he succumbed to the jaws of death... Let hear some other possibilities

The Answer to Our Borders?
Pine Donkey replied to stanley's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
I just talked to a person that was on scene last night. This was just a bad situation. The solutions lie at the policy levels. We need a change in president, upper administration, and political will. We currently have a lot of really good people on the ground that are not allowed to do their job. Current political agenda do not lend themselves to allowing our well qualified agents to do their jobs. -
Casey is right on! Give them the equipment and personnel needed. Then, let the agents use the equipment they have. Lastly put some protections in for the agents when they carry out their jobs. Our law enforcement and military members are often tasted with doing a very dangerous and often ugly (for lack of a better word) job. They proudly serve, but when they do the toughest parts of their jobs, the public, through the media, places the blame on them. They are drug through the public mud puddle, and abandoned by those they serve. It is time to offer some protections for se who protect us!
-
Many of our students are children of agents from the Naco station. This will be another page in a long and debated national story, but for us who live down here, it is so much more. These agents are not policy or agendas or points in national polls, they are friends and neighbors, parents spouses, and children of our communities. Please keep them in your prayers.

This is horrible! Has the White House identified the YouTube video that caused the shooting?
