I sold two vehicles last week and bought one through Craigslist. Plenty of scammers, but we ignore all but those willing to meet face to face, cash in hand. Sold both cars to very genuine people who were willing to deal on our terms. We just ignored those who live on an oil rig, or a cruise ship, or are deployed and buying for a family member. On the vehicle we bought there was a lien so we met at his bank and completed the transaction through them. Craigslist reaches so many people, and it is free. I really appreciate their service. However, don't let the chance of a few bucks extra override your common sense.

Help wanted! Opinions of this buck

You need to dedicate to that buck for the next six months. That is a great buck and one that will be worth your time. Good luck! -
Teachers and Guns
Pine Donkey replied to Non-Typical Solutions's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
I agree Casey, fight or flight is a big part of it, but even when a teacher has the fight instinct, there is much more needed. 24 hours of training does not make a "fighter" a competent person in a horrific situation. There is so much more to it. -
Teachers and Guns
Pine Donkey replied to Non-Typical Solutions's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
This topic is very complex, yet so often, the proposed solutions are just quick fix ideas. There is no quick fix to the potential of mass violence in a public school, nor is there any solution that is a "pretty" fix. Arming some staff members might be part of a solution, but many other steps need to be taken. A couple decades ago state governments, forced by federal legislation and precedence set through law suits, began to scale back the State mental systems and pushed many of those onto the public education system. The education system is ot designed or equipted to handle these patients, so they are passed on into society. Fear of law suits, privacy acts, and evaluation systems, punish schools that do not follow this approach. Our government has failed to enforce existing gun laws. All the while our society has continually looked for areas to place blame...bad childhood, poverty, ethnicity, social structure...rather than acknowledge that evil exists in our world and sometimes evil people attack our children. When one of the horrific situations happen, things have already gone bad. People are going to be wounded and die. At that point there is no way to make it OK, the goal must be to eliminate the threat, and that is done by killing the shooter. The training that one must go through to be prepared to run toward the shooting, step past dead and dying, and confront the shooter goes far beyond a three day course. Many who are drawn to the teaching profession, especially elementary education, have a compassionate, personality that is better suited to lending aid than mounting a counter attack. The type of personality needed to protect students is also vastly different than the average CCW person. Arming a staff member is not about self defense, it is about protection of others. Those are two greatly different things. Lessons have been learned through previous shootings. Law enforcement officials now realize that not all officers are able to perform as needed in an active shooter type of situation. Years of training have taught the officers to secure the site, and get reinforcement before moving in. This was the initial tactic at Columbine High...it did not work. The shooters continued to kill while plans were made. Active shooter training takes a different approach, one that is based on first on scene is the first to enter to eliminate the threat. I have spent many years working alongside teachers. A few of them might be good candidates to carry a gun in school, others might be trained to be competent, yet many others should never be considered. On my staff we have a sheriff deputy who retired after a career of service, but still works part time for the department. This teacher can legally carry on campus. We have another former deputy who is a maintenance worker. These, along with our JROTC instructors may be good candidates for this type if program. The biggest benefit of this type of legislation might not be the armed teacher themself, but rather the image that is created. Currently schools are "gun free zones". That is just an invitation to evil doers. By allowing local districts to choose if they want to participate in ths program, that image can be changed. Once the Governing Board votes to join the program, a sign is placed on the front gate the states "This School Participates in the Armed Staff Program". If staff members are armed, their identity needs to be kept concealed. Those individuals also must also be placed in strategic locations around campus. Student safety is something that I live everyday. It will never matter to a loving parent, how good the teachers are, how successful the athletic program is, how nice the facilities are, if their child is not safe. Sorry for the long post, but this is not a simple solution subject. -

Before we set a price we need to decide what we are doing with the tires and wheels. The 94 has 16 inch aloy wheels from an 08. We put a set of 265-75 r16 Yokohama geolanders on it less than 5k ago. The new truck has 17 inch allow wheels with street tread Big O tires on it. They have maybe 10k miles left on them. We are considering swapping out the wheels.

It is the 4 cylinder

We just bought my son a newer Tacoma and will be selling his. It is a 94 regular cab, ac, 5spd, 4x4, allow wheels, 89k miles. This truck goes anywhere. His grandpa bought it brand new the day he was born and gave it to him when he got his drivers permit. Looks good, runs great. Only reason for the upgrade is my wife wanting him in a vehicle with airbags as he heads off to college. All maintanance records from day one. We have not set a price yet, but are open to offers.

What a great ram! That thing is a stud, congratulations. -
In Tucson the city is considering a ban on all private gun sales on City property. This will surely kill the gun shows at the Community center. In Oklahoma, they are going in another direction. http://www.youtube.com/watch_popup?v=OQnU1t7UzgM

Vortex Viper HD 15x50 vs. Kaibab HD 15x56
Pine Donkey replied to kazpilot25's topic in Optics and tripods
I went with the kiababs and have not regretted it. Swarovski's are great no doubt, but the difference is not worth the money in my opinion. I have looked at many animals through both, and there is a difference, but it is pretty slight. However, there is a world of difference between the kiababs and the vipers. -
My bad Couesaz, I forgot to put in the words "on city property"...thanks for catching that. The community center is owned by the city and hosts a couple large shows each year. You hit the nail on the head Bigorange, it is Special K who is promoting this. I am so glad I have nothing to do with that city. That waste millions on a stupid trolley system to revitalize downtown, but then they subsidize the rent for soup kitchens and community are associations, both of which attract the homeless, thus making the area less desirable to people who may have some money to spend. Now they are chasing away gun owners. The city leaders in Tucson are idiots! They are probably qualified to be federal politically appointees.
