I have used cheap little ones and large ones, but have settled on the 1/2 hp Lem. It does everything I need, but not to big/heavy to store away. We do about 5 animals a year, mainly elk, and have had it for 6 years. Ground an entire buffalo in about 6 hours. The 1/2 hp is not the grinder to blow through a bunch of meat real quickly. I tend to grind on a Sunday, NASCAR on the TV and a few cold ones to help the process. By the way, I heard it is possible to butcher and grind without drinking beer, but never seen anyone actually try it.

We are selling our 94 Prowler 29.5'. It has a tall front living room and walk around queen bed in back. It does not have a loading ramp on back.

My wife hunted with me all the time when we dated, and after we got married. Once we began th have kids she hunted less and less, but always made sure I had plenty time in the field. As the kids began to leave the nest she hunted more. Now she hunts, but not as much as I do. She prefers the nicer weather, but will bust butt when she has a good tag. If you have a good one, keep her happy and keep her around!

Drew AZ Unit 8 Late season Rifle Bull--Help Please.
Pine Donkey replied to Elk_oholic's topic in Elk Hunting
Lots of good bulls, but not a lot of good locations for shooting. Often time it is the hunter that leaves the trail head at 2am that gets 'the spot'. A set of eyes on the rim can be helpful. Horses or mules are a big help, but a few strong friends can get the job done...it's a haul. Sometimes the hardest part is just getting from the kill to a trail. Packing through thick manzanita can be rough. There are resident bulls in the canyon, but prolonged cold can push more down there. Of course, with cold weather comes bad road conditions. Some years the road is impasdible so have a backup location. -
Were you there for the downpour??? Yep, I just crawled under a tree and kept fishing. Had the boat in the parking lot but never put it in the water.

I was there today. We caught only one, but he was built like a football.

With a little luck, the winds will push this southeast and into the Sawmill burn. Hope they can protect the houses in the Hilton ranch area.

Big lake has paved access and hookups but you will be right on top of others and may even need reservations if it's a busy weekend. The road from Alpine is now paved; what a shame. At least all the wolf lovers can get easily drive their prius' in there now. Hundreds of nice spots on the unit as it is pretty flat. If you are within a couple miles of the Big Lake area it gets a little crowded. Up near Crosby crossing or Pat knoll will get you away from others and put you in the middle of the unit. Most importantly, park away from dead trees. They have rotted for enough years that they are beginning to fall in even moderate wind. Also carry a chain saw in your truck while scouting. A falling tree could easily leave you stranded on a remote road. Great hunt, good luck.

This evening we attended a memorial service for my uncle, Bob Riordan. Uncle Bob was an avid outdoorsman and had all of the coolest toys for hunting, fishing, camping and shooting. The toys were stored in hundreds of ammo boxes. He was proud of his meticulous labeling system which listed the contents of each on a bright yellow printer tape. His boys figured he would be pretty happy in this urn. Rest in piece Uncle Bob, enjoy your happy hunting ground.

This is what the fence looks like from Coronado Monument and goes for miles West. It may keep a truck from crossing but everything else, including drug mules and those big Mexico bucks, goes right through.

Anyone who has ever met TJ knows his intentions and actions are always the best. The owner of the camp is very fortunate TJ stumbled across it. The minute he pulled it out of the mud/crap it was as safe as if in the owners own shed. Class move as always Tom!

Pine Donkey replied to Red Rabbit's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I am in the process of building a 6.5SAUM I hope it will prove to be the ultimate coues rifle. -
I helped get a horse out of the bottom of a well once. It was a bunch of work and a lot of things went right. About 100 people showed up to watch and 'advise'. In the end, Stoney was fine, just very tired. His story became the basis for a children's book.
