Just returned from unit 1. I heard a few bugles, but very few. The bugling was much heavier 2 weeks ago. I just hope it is due to all the people in the woods this weekend. I saw several trucks stopped along the road and calling.

Make every aspects of the hunt about her. Often times a guy will be very driven for the kill so he can impress everyone by having a wife/ girlfriend that killed. All the while you loose focus of what is important. By he way, everybody is already impressed that your wife/girlfriend hunts whether she kills or not. Enjoy every minute you are out there together!

My son Garrett shot his first bear last night right at dark. He found the arrow and a good blood trail. He decided to back out and return in the morning. On the mile and a half hike, he got caught in a hard downpour. When he and a friend returned this morning, all blood and tracks were washed away. They spent several hours searching the canyon it ran into and finally found it. He is pretty happy, but now has quite a pack in front of him.

Too bad he is teaching his kid to hunt like this. The high road is often lonely, but in the end, the trip is good.

Cole, That skull in coming your way. Just need to pick it up from the taxidermist and take it to you. Not sure when that will be, might have to throw it in the freezer for a few weeks until I make it that way.

Azbigbull, sounds like a couple great kids! I sent you a PM. We will talk in a few weeks. I will be in that area some during the archery hunt, and will be helping my mom, wife and daughter in 27 at the same time as the youth hunt. -
