Good place to start and what's it worth?
Pine Donkey replied to codyhuntsaz's topic in Long Range Shooting
It won't take long until you decide to upgrade the scope, barrel, and stock. Then will want to get some machining done on the action and a brake added to the barrel. You will also start having thoughts about a magazine and bottom metal. After a bunch of time and money, you will have a heck of a good gun with everything redone except the trigger. If you are looking to stay at the entry level, or if you are looking for a fun project, this could be a good gun for you. If you are looking to learn a little about LR while deciding what you really want, I would go a different direction...maybe I would buy the scope I want and mount it on a Savage LRH. They, read talk and shoot a lot to determine what you really want to build. -
The fish kill followed the near draining of the lake. Since then, the lake has come up 30+ feet each Spring, but then it was drawn back down to near empty each summer. We need a couple real wet years to break the cycle and get a significant amount of 'carryover' water. There is some water now, and the beauty is always spectacular. Enjoy the trip!

It's pretty much an adult Easter egg hunt for me.

The dead one is bigger, but I bet he felt like a horse with the way you were carrying him out!

The other night I went down to the bar for some drinks. On the way home, I was stopped by the sheriff. He walked up to my truck and asked if I know why he pulled me over. I replied, "I guess it's because I was in the bar drinking and now I am driving." He said, "Yes. Also, a couple miles back you took the corner reals fast and your wife fell out!" I replied,"Oh My God, I am so relieved...I thought I had gone deaf!"

Is this an abandoned camera on public land?

How many arrests were made in this federal crime? I think I just heard Macho B talking from the grave, he said, "take that bitch!"

The evening of the Challenger disaster, President Reagan addressed the nation. He did not mention political parties, he did not tell us who we should blame, he did not promise to throw money at the problem. Instead he showed the compassion and inspiration of a true leader in a time when we were all hurting. Wow how things have changed!

I was on a plane from Tucson to Reno, the pilot told us about it. I will never forget the day.

I was listening to Chris Ladoux before Garth Brooks mentioned him in a song. He did a concert in Tombstone in the mid 90’s and the next day I toured he, his wife and kid around town. A real genuine guy, nothing fancy or flashy, just seemed to be enjoying life. He drove his own, somewhat old, Winabego to the concert and stayed at a local RV park. I would still be listing to country music if there were a few of his type out there.

14th birthday my parents gave me my dream rifle, Ruger M77 .270. It was topped with a 4X Bushnell scope. I thought I was the luckiest boy in the world! I still have that gun, and always will.

Bow, tuning, sight, practice, practice, practice. A 6 inch group at 120 is very doable with some money, time and dedication.

Weird ring on brass
Pine Donkey replied to joelpresmyk8's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
You can reduce the stress on your brass at that point by neck sizing rather than full length sizing. Also make sure you are not 'bumping' the shoulder too much. -
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. May 2016 bring plentiful tags and straight flying arrows!

NBA TV Ad with Bloomber Anti-Gun Group Everytown USA
Pine Donkey replied to jmwarren65's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
My brother in law got me into NASCAR for this very reason. Now I enjoy it a lot and never watch the other pro sports. In the other leagues those who use drugs in a competition get a slap on the wrist at most. In NASCAR, they get a lifetime ban. -

NBA...isn't that the favorite league of North Korean dictators? Now they feel we should not have guns? What's next...no national anthem at the games? No prayers allowed? ... I haven't watched a game in a decade and don't feel like I am missing a thing. -
Make your own bow, kill a spot and stock coues, wow!
