Great job. Not too many people in this worl can claim their first deer was an archery coues. Of those few, very very few can make that claim at age 11. Thanks for sharing the hunt with us.

Doug, You've done it again...thanks

Been there, done that!!! I said I quit once too. If it is a part of you, you wont be able to to it. The more you distance yourself, the more your mind will pull you back. Not long and trying to stay away will become more of a problem then the failure you have experience. Some times nothing works out, but that occasianal time when it does will keep the fire burning inside of you. Regroup, spend time with friends and family, and be cognisent that you will be back out there.

Great buck, congratulations. I can't wait to read the story.

I tried again to attack pictures and was not able. I tried a 1.02MB pic. In the past I have had no problem posting, but something has changed. Not sure if it is with CWT or my computer. I am having the same issue as bonecollector described. Once choose a pic to attach, a white bar appears across the selection and I can go no further.

Last year while scouting for my own antelope hunt, I met Jeff on the side of a mountain. It only took a couple minutes to see he is a top quality person, and one who I was glad to meet. We talked about hunting, poeple, and our kids. I picked his brain on areas that hold goats, we discussed some of the bigger animals we had both seen, and he helped me find a way into some areas I wanted to access but did not know how. This was a week before the opener. We exchanged phone numbers, and parted with a hand shake. During that week he went out scouting a couple times and called me to let me know what he had seen. I certainly agree when Jeff says he is and ehtical person. He is also a heck of a nice guy, and someone good to know in the White Mountain area. By the way, our conversation started with him asking about my "coueswhitetail.com" sticker. Congratulations on a great hunt Jeff.

I have had the same problems for the past few days. I resized everything to under 2.0 and still can't post them. Not sure, but I think this was the first time I tried to post pictures since the forum went down for those couple dark and tragic days.

My condolences for your loss. It is so hard when they work their way into your heart. Keep all those memories alive and reflect back on them often.

It's about time! The story and names of these two has been out there since the second day of the fire. Lark mentioned that life is hard when your stupid. When you add arrogance to stupidity it can be dangerous. There are many dedicated and ehtical hunters and fishermen who promote wildlife and the outdoors. Then there are the slobs who pose as hunters and fishermen, and give us all a bad name. These two are slobs who do not care about anything but themselves. Remember, they first reported that the fire came through their camp while they had hiked down the canyon to fish. That portion of Bear Wallow Creek has been closed to fishing for some time. This did not matter to them...the rules are for others. In many small communities, families earn reputations; some good--some bad. They can be earned for years of doing things like driving in closed areas and hunting from vehicles, entering posted private lands without permission, playing loose with bag limits and calendar dates, and fishing/hunting closed areas. Factual or not, reputations are built. To quote a line from the movie Wyatt Earp, "the reputation business is a tricky business." These two will never be able to pay for the damage and expense they caused, but I hope they are forced to chip away at it for the rest of their lives. I also hope that others that contributed to the overgrown conditions of the forest are also held accountable, but I doubt that will ever happen.
