Beautiful! Christmas card perfection. Nice share.

Done. Very good write-up! ...well put.

Finally, put an arrow through this fine buck!

Maybe this should be a new category in the Big Buck contest....? -
That is a great buck! I would also say 180's...depending on the spread. You still have a good chance to win cash at the SW contest.
-
Enter it in the contest at Sportsman's Warehouse. They will officially score it SCI. You will probably win some cash if it scores 256". Enter the CWT contest as well. We need pictures!

Wow! Great display! All great bucks...that's quite a collection!
-
That's a GREAT buck! I wouldn't hesitate to take him. Tall, symetrical, and not broke up.

+1 Not my primary method of hunting, but do put it to use now and then. To each their own. Just change your strategy to work in your favor. The only thing that bothers me about the "orange jeep" story, is that they were "glassing" through their rifle scopes. I saw a young man "glass me up" through his rifle scope once......let's just say, he won't forget about that anytime soon. Hopefully he will pass that safety tip on to his kids.

Wow! Poor pig. That'd be like walking in those goofy looking european, long-toed shoes

Kudos to you Dad, and your son, for doing a tough hunt together! You both will remember it for life. Great shot!! I'm not sure I could pull it off. Those of you who plan to hunt with the young'uns, be sure to make it fun for THEM. Put aside the impatience and die-hard hunter-maniac mentality and make it fun. Invest a little quality time early on...you'll have a huntin' partner for life.

I try to get "multi-function" out of my gear. I use three different types of hiking poles. Mostly, I use the "moses pole" mentioned above (yucca pole). They are strong enough to support your weight, and light weight to carry. They are free, and can be customized to your liking. I wrap leather around it for a grip. I've found that your bare hands will get splinters, so you need a grip or gloves. I also wrap them with the camo self-cling tape. Be sure to cut them long enough to glass from. Great project for the kids too. For rifle hunts, I typically care the tall Stoney Point shooting sticks, with the twist and expand legs. These are light weight and offer good support. They are tall enough to glass from, if you rest them on a rock or the toe of your boot. And you have good shooting sticks at the ready. In my pack frame, I have the typical, colapsible trekking poles. If I have to use the pack frame for a heavy meat load, I use the trekking poles for the extra stability. Not much good for glassing from, unless you're sitting on the ground.

I am selling this Minox DCM 5.0 digiscope camera. It fits the Zeiss 65/85mm scope. It works well and takes good quality pictures. A cool feature is the remote trigger, to minimize scope movement. I recently bought a different setup, so I don't use this anymore. Original retail was $450. I bought it a couple years ago from Outdoorsmans on sale for $300. I saw one on ebay for $150....so, I'd like to get $150 for it. Preferably FTF, but can ship if necessary. I live in Mesa and work in west Chandler, so am somewhat flexible for meeting location. Here is a link to Camera Land for a discription: http://www.cameralan...?page=minoxdec5 Please PM or reply to this post with questions. Thanks, Brad

Are NAP Bloodrunner heads any good? - Here are my test results
Viper replied to Viper's topic in Bows, arrows, broadheads
That's reasurring. I have not hunted from a ground blind yet, but plan to. I ordered the Killzones. I am anxious to try them out. Thanks for all the inputs. -
Same thing can be an issue on trucks. Rims without the proper offset can rub the tie rod end. Sometimes you can grind down the tie rod end enough to clear. Not sure if there is enough bulk on an ATV/UTV tie rod end to be able to do this.

Win Vortex Kaibab 15x56 Binoculars - we're giving them away

Same problem. I sent info without a pic. And posted a pic on the FB page. -
Good luck! At least you are in the elk woods. Most of us are stuck at work....day-dreaming.

How about ATV or UTV rental? Not sure, but might be a lot cheaper. Do you have a vehicle that will pull a small trailer? I see rentals available on Craigslist often. Might even find a 4x4 rental on there.

Beautiful buck!! Great mount! Clay did mine as well. It is a real treat to look at it every day, smile, and remember the hunt. You will enjoy that quality mount for many years. Congrats! -

I found this review video on several BH's. The Killzone didn't fare well. Thoughts? -

GotBowAZ, Thanks for all the info. I think I will try them. Which Killzone BH are you shooting? The "cut on contact" or the "trophy tip"? Have you tested both? Will they shoot through the window netting of a ground blind without deploying? I don't have much experience with ground blinds so I don't know how necessary it is to have the netting up....maybe a non-issue. Brad -
Very nice buck! Looks like two beams on the left that fork, Good tine length and eye guard on the right. Definitely a shooter. Good to see some snow on the ground. Been flying much? They finally opened the Sunflower burn area, so we are getting back in there again. Brad

I have one. It takes good quality pictures, good battery life, decent range, small and light weight. Features and setup are the same as the CA3.0. If you can find reviews on the 3.0, you'll have a good feel for the 4.0. The only difference is the resolution, 3 megapixels vs 4 megapixels.
