Cool! Looks like spear fishing would be effective. Not much vegetation on the bottom.

We have used the Gorilla stands, as well as home made (much heavier). We would hang them with a heavy chain, binder, and pad lock. We used the ladder sections that you slide together on location. Used the factory straps, and a heavy chain/pad lock. Never had one stolen. I also have a climber. It is very comfortable. You have to be careful if you stand to shoot, as the foot base can twist on the tree with uneven weight on one side. If you hunt in the pines, it's not too hard to find a good tree, but may not be ideal....right diameter and no lower limbs. For extended hunts, like a 2 week elk hunt, we would hang stands/ladders the weekend before the hunt. We camped in the area and visited them every day, so less chance of getting stolen. The USFS is the big issue these days. They are cracking down on leaving stands and "damaging" trees. I am moving more towards the ground blind method....why are you moving from ground blind to tree stand? Curious.

Bowhunter Happening July 19-21 Mormon Lake
Viper replied to darrcolburn's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
It was fun last year. Courses were well laid out, several vendors and food. The beer and band should be fun. There is a "camp ground" just past the bar/restaurant/store/stables, but it fills up quick. May be by reservation...not sure. There is open camping in the surrounding national forest. There is a FR to the left just before the store/bar. It goes up the hill. The best spots are taken early, but shouldn't be a problem. You can go through town and take the road up Mormon Mnt. for more camping options. -
I've used Allie's Auto Air a couple times in the past. Auto A/C is all they do, and they know what they are doing...honest too. I assume they are still in business. But, they are in Mesa, on Country Club. 480-834-4599

I have a hard time getting rid of old magazines as well. I see more value in them than my wife does.

Very nice! Lizards are cool.

Leica would be my first choice...but my budget didn't allow it. I too went with the Leupold TBR 100i. I really like it. It is a ton better than the older models. It has the illuminated reticle and gives a read out quick. It will range trees/bushes at 900+ yrds. I studied reviews before buying, and the Vortex did not rate well overall.

Digiscope adapter - anyone use this one?
Viper replied to scoutm's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
Yup. I have this setup for my Zeiss spotter. It is light, compact and attaches quick/easy. They attach the adapter ring to the camera with epoxy, but doesn't interfere with normal camera operation. I used the camera alone in Hawaii with no issues. I love the elph camera. The scope adapter just threads onto the camera adapter ring when you want to digiscope, then slides onto the eyepiece. It really is as simple as the video shows. I know nothing about the smart phone adaters....maybe more economical. -

Thanks for the review. I just picked up the Guide 10 adventure kit from Sportsman's, on sale for $99. Haven't had a chance to use it yet. Just give the battery pack the initial charge. Only took 1.5 hrs. For good, high capacity rechargable batteries check out http://www.mahaenergy.com/batteries/ They sell the Powerex 2700mAh. Been using their batteries for 5 or 6 years now. They also have low self-discharge batteries.

Several years ago, my neighbor's weener dog got ahold of a CO toad and started getting foamy at the mouth. He quickly grabbed the garden hose (didn't have time to take off the pistol-type nozzel), jammed it into the dogs mouth and gave him a 5 second shot. That little weener dog looked like a swolled up tick for those 5 seconds. When he pulled the nozzel out, a bunch of water gushed out and the dog deflated to normal size. Dog was fine after that. Around that same era, my son messed with a toad, then rubbed his eyes. He hit the floor screaming. I put him in the shower and flushed his face real good, then called Poison Control. That's what they said to do.

Will a Ranger XP fit on the deck?

Great buck!! Welcome. As initiation to the site, you have to provide the story...with exact details on where you got that buck (unit, landmarks, coordinates, etc)

I've got some old cedar fencing that looks like barn siding, just narrower. I'm in Mesa. It's not too hard to find old barbed wire laying around in the desert.

I have the one from Sportsman's....from Caldwell, I believe. It is AR500 steel. It has been shot by AK47 (.308), AR15 (.223), and .45 on down. Not heavy magnum calibers. The only damage is to the paint. Of course the chain or frame will not take a hit well. I think it will be OK for .300WM.

Brother shoots sibling in Arizona hunting accident
Viper replied to down2hunt's topic in The Campfire
This guy goes to my buddy's church. He said the Dr. had to leave several BB's in his face. He may loose an eye. -
My buddy and I are interested, but know nothing about it....cost, location, success rate, etc. Could you PM me your contact info and best time to reach you? I prefer to have a conversation on the phone. Thx, Brad
