Finding and Hunting Giant Coues Bucks with Devin beck
Viper replied to Jay Scott's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Good podcast and topic! Good info. Helps to reaffirm the tactic of glassing into the shady brush...all day. -
Oh yeah You know it's bad when you have to take your pants off and use your Havilon to cut it out I know what you mean. I made that mistake one year...came home with 20 holes in each shin. I wear snake guards in shin-dagger country now. They work great.

Very nice buck! You gotta go where the big boys live. I cringe when I see "shin daggers"
-
I have both, for that reason. Mostly hunt south though.
-
Looks like the area we hunt, near Oracle. We've been seeing coues in there for the last 6 or 7 years. You two are killers!
-
Wow! Great bucks! She's spoiled for life now....gonna be hard to live with until you get a couple that size.

Go to Caswell's or C2 Tactical and try them out. I shot the Shield in .40 and the XDs in 9mm. It's a toss up. The recoil is quite noticeable with the Shield .40. I prefer to stick with .40. I have the XDm .40 compact and love it. It is pretty concealable, but could be better, on my skinny body. I don't like a thumb safety, so I like the two safeties of the XDm/XDs...backstrap safety and trigger safety. My son is planning to buy the XDs in 9mm....so maybe I'll wait and play with it for a while.

IMO, I don't see the need. I haven't had a problem with anyone I've bought or sold from on this site. I look at their number of posts as a barometer...or comfort factor. I figure if they've been a member for any length of time, they know the good character this site and the majority of it's members represents. I once bought a GPS from a member in Texas. The GPS and my money crossed in the mail....no issues. If it's a big ticket item, I prefer to meet face - face. It seems like this could open a can-o-worms. Who's the judge to decide someone is not a "good guy"?

Pretty cool! Sink hole? I don't know if I would have the guts to go in.
-
Nice bull!! Do you have a truck lined up to pick it up?
-
Really cool and fancy looking....how do they work and what type of call sound do they make?
-
That is the important question...what is the height measurement under the rear bed?
-
Sold - thanks mbiewer (Matt). Nice to meet you.

I have had this gun cabinet for over 20 years, and finally replaced it with a safe. It is well made of oak and in great shape. Locking cabinet door and storage door. Interior light. $50 Located in east Mesa. I can haul it in to work in west Chandler if that helps. Thanks for looking - Brad

Yup...8 slots

I can check when I get home this afternoon, to be sure. I think it is 8 slots.

We were in 4A also. Called in a tom Fri morning and Sat morning, but couldn't get a shot. Decided to pack up the tent camp and head home late Sat morning to miss the weather. Congrats on your success!

I assume it is located in Lake Havasu City? How heavy are these...2000 lbs? Is it on a 6.5' bed in the picture? I've considered going this way, so I can pull toys. But my wife has some bad preconceived notions about cabover campers.

My buddy and I had a text-book opening morning. We roosted two toms in the same tree Thursday night, along with a few more in the area. Friday morning we were set up at that spot. The two toms were going nuts. A few other toms were gobbling in the area as well. We had the two toms coming in, but still out of sight. Suddenly, another tom gobbled right behind us within 40 yards. I froze and waited a couple minutes for him to walk in, but my curiosity got the better of me. I turned my head slowly to look around the tree to see where he was. He was standing there at 30 yards...saw my movement and ran off doing the loud putt, putt, putt. Well, that silenced the other two toms. The next time they gobbled, they were a 1/4 mile down the canyon. Saturday morning, same area, we had a tom come in quartering to my buddy's right. I was facing the opposite direction. I had just finished some soft calling when I heard some putting behind me. I braced for his shot......nothing. Finally, out of my peripheral, I saw the tom walking away about 60 yards. I asked "why didn't you shoot him"? He said he was on the wrong side and he would have to switch gun hands for a left hand shot, and didn't want to make the movements. That was his call, but didn't work out. We had a narrow window of no rain that morning, and based on the weather forecast, we opted to pack up camp and head home. I may try again in a couple weeks.

It appears to not have the hood? Is the down rating 850? What size chest does the medium fit? Thanks
