Help me judge this buck guys

"Help me judge this buck guys" Innocent......no, seriously 103....and 7/8.....no, seriously....
  2. Is there a bad consequence to sanding it down anyway, to float the barrel? A floated barrel is a good thing...right?
  3. Ah hah...that's the only site that mentions that. Well, I like it so far. Got it put together last night. Did a little cleanup of the contact areas. Otherwise, the action/barrel slipped right in.
  4. Oh...I didn't notice that statement. Did you see that on the B&C site? I bought the stock from Stocky Stocks.

    Home Burglarized: Hunting Gear Stolen

Man! That really stinks! I pray you recover your gear. It makes me think...my gear is always laying out. I have a Eberlestock X2 I won't be using anytime soon, if you need to borrow it. I have the older version and the newer version.

    500+ Yard Range

Those guard rails make a pretty good rest. 😆
  8. I want to replace the factory stock on my Remington 700 XCR .270. I want an upgrade with bedding and floated barrel at an economical price. This one from Stocky's Stocks seems to fit the bill. Any input, advice...? https://www.stockysstocks.com/stocks-by-brand/bell-carlson/sporter-hunting-stocks/bell-carlson-alaskan-wilderness-mountain-rifle-remington-model-700-model-seven-7-stock-right-left-hand-available-new-models.html

    New Hunting Pack

I have this setup. It works very well. It's not great for hauling out meat, but most of the time you pack what you can back to the truck/camp and return with a meat hauler anyways. The pack dilemma is an ongoing evolution, especially for pack/gear junkies like me. Over the years, I have gone from a small fanny pack, to a camelback, to Eberlestock X2, to Outdoorsman, now currently trying out the Kuiu 3200...which I really like so far. By the way, I still have all of these I also have a couple of meat frame packs. The Kelty Cache Hauler is a good one. It carries a load quite well...which is currently on sale at Sportsmans for $90. I have hunted with it with a small pack attached. Pretty lite setup. There are tons of options. It's best to get your hands on one and try it on with weight in it before you buy. If you have time, watch the forums.
  10. Good to know. Thanks for the offer...I will most likely buy one to have on hand. Do you have the mechanical one for $50, or the digital one. The mechanical one gets good reviews over the last couple years. Thanks

    An app for that?

Backcountry Navigator for mapping/gps. Strelok for shooting/ballistics app.

    New Hunting Pack

I have one similar...Kelty Cache Hauler, frame only. It works great for hauling a load of meat. This one should be a good setup for the $. I think Sportsmans carries them. Make sure it fits you well, and has a good sturdy waist belt to support most of the load. Also, before you order this one, be sure it includes the pack bag.
  14. Is it necessary to bed the recoil lug with a aluminum bedding block? Should I use lock tight on the bolts?

    New Hunting Pack

Middle-upper price range...Outdoorsman, Kuiu 3200 or 5200, Eberlestock to name a few I am familiar with. You can typically find these for sale on forums for less $ than new...around $200 - $300. Depends on the size and features you want.
  17. Now I need to find/buy a decent inch pound torque wrench. It's amazing how many brands get mixed reviews. It seems the Wheeler Fat Wrench quality has improved the last couple years.Any suggestions?

    water softener...

Is that just for labor, or does that include the unit?
  19. That's great results! Did you torque to spec, or make torque adjustments until the group tightened up?
  20. Thanks. I am just looking to make this rifle a little more accurate without much added expense, so I can stretch my effective range a bit...to 400 to 500 yards. I figure a decent stock and premium ammo should accomplish what I want. In the future, if I want a long range, custom, more expensive shooter, it will probably be a different caliber. For now, this one will do.

I'm in the market too. I've been doing some research. It appears the options are buy from the big box stores for less than $400 or go with a high quality unit for nearly $1000.
  22. Not to change the subject, but what type of liner do you use?
