    Scope Level

This is the one I bought at Sportsmans. Has held up so far, after about 50 rounds. Some have a thick ring mount that requires you to remove your scope to install....something to be aware of when choosing. http://www.sportsmanswarehouse.com/sportsmans/Vortex-Lo-Pro-Rifle-Scope-Bubblevel/productDetail/Scope-Accessories/prod99999044206/cat131502

How Heavy Is Your Hunting Rifle?

Rem 700 XCR .270 with scope is 8.5 lbs.

    Way right?

You have to have a level on your scope at that range.

    Burglar Bull

Wow! Great bull and great story! I think thieves that take your hunting gear should be punished like a horse thief of the old west.....hang by the neck until dead. Glad you was able to rebound and get it done.

    KUIU Bino Harness FS

For future reference, will this size fit 12x50 Leica Trinovids? Thinking of trying them out.

    Tract Optics

Interesting. Seems to have all the quality features. And Lifetime warranty. I look forward to your review.
  9. Just bought mine. Didn't see where it shows how many are left.
  10. Yeah the instructions said the screw should make 3 full turns. I thought that was kinda vague. I was just going to snug them up but I'll try the 60-65lbs ...inch pounds. I bought the Wheeler scope mounting kit. It came with the fat wrench. Works well.
  11. It seems like "whatever works". A lot of the reading I read stated to tighten the rear screw first, and to start at 35 in/lbs and work up in 5 lb increments and stop when the group tightens up. I set my Rem 700 in B&C stock to 45 in/lbs. After bedding the lug, then shimming the front stock contact pad a bit, I am shooting 3/4" MOA with factory Hornady ammo. It seems to be an ongoing tweaking process.

    My first AZ Coues adventure

Great story! Great write up!...like said previous, could be the best I've read on here. This is magazine quality. Submit it to Western Hunter and Eastman's. Great adventure! Coues hunts are always an adventure no matter your hunting style. Great pictures! It's cool to see out of state guys "do it right" and really appreciate hunting here on our turf for our favorite deer. You did us proud! It got me really pumped up for my upcoming December hunt, which I haven't drawn in a really long time. Thanks!

    Dialed for Distance

I was using Strelok too, for theoretical distances on my Burris Ballistic plex reticles. It was quite a bit off from what I actually shot. I then referred to the Burris website ballistic calculator, specific to that reticle. It was dead nuts on. Not sure what data I am missing, or have wrong, to get the result I did with Strelok. I shot a 5" group at 500 yards with my Rem 700 .270 and Burris 4.5-14x42...Ballistic plex reticles...no turrets. I feel that I am slowly getting sucked into longer range shooting

    Dialed for Distance

My buddy and I came to that same realization this weekend as well. He runs out of turret adjustment around 650 yards. He will need the 20 moa rail as well. He is shooting a brand new Savage 111 LRH in 6.5 x 284 Norma with a Vortex HS-T 4 - 16 x 44. I told him it will be a perpetual learning and tweeking process.

I've still got a bunch of those for my old setup.

    Bad Scope?

I assume its a floated barrel. Maybe some debris got jammed down in between the barrel and stock.

What are hunter knobs? Are they turrets?

    The Afro Buck

Poor guy. Looks like Shirley Temple.
  21. I received the new B&C Alaskan II stock for my Remote 700. Aluminium bedding block, floated barrel....except for the "nubules" at the far forend of the stock. I can run a folded dollar bill between the whole barrel and stock, except at the stock end where it makes contact. Should this be touching the barrel? Do I need to sand it down?

    Coues Gunz!

Yeah... .270 on top! I use a Rem 700 XCR .270 in a B&C stock, bedded recoil lug. Shoots Hornady 140 BTSP real good out to 500 yards. Weighs 8.5 lbs with scope.

Bull of a lifetime UPDATED with story

    Wow! Very cool bull!
  24. Oh, I've been cleaning too much then. I usually clean after each outing, which is typically 20 - 40 rounds. Maybe that's one of the reasons I seem to be having trouble getting tight groups.
