What is the average cost? $150 - $200? Is there a recommended manufacturer/model? -
Thoughts on clamp on muzzle brake?
Viper replied to Viper's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Around 700 rounds through it. I believe it is the standard sporter-type barrel, Rem 700 XCR, .270 cal. I plan to keep it. After putting a Bell & Carlson stock on it and bedding the recoil lug, it shoots 3/4 moa. However, I sometimes get the itch for something lighter and more "custom" ;-) -
Great buck!!

Congrats to you both! Great bucks! That is really cool that your daughter can share these experiences with you.

Are they the electric folding or manual folding? Where are you located?

^^^ love my .270

I can only speak for the Icon Pro (3200). I have several miles and some heavy packouts in nasty brush country with no issues. I went with the heavier material of the Icon Pro for the durability.

These have been popping up on camofire lately.....around $80 I think.

Wow! You've had great success with that bow.

Would you sell just the rain cover?

I still have VHS tapes featuring him and Larry D. Jones. They were an inspiration to me in my younger days, elk and deer hunting with a bow. I remember trying to stalk deer in my socks, like Dwight. I had mixed results in the AZ desert 😲 Rest in peace Dwight

That really sucks. Sometimes, people suck. You could still hunt...just with a dark cloud over it.

I'll take it. Please text me in the morning (Saturday) and I'll come over and get it. I'm in Mesa. I'll PM you my number. Brad

The Kilt Lifter should solve the sore back issue...no need for a funky tripod.

This is a good article on why some new broadheads are too dull. I experienced this last Sept on my archery bull hunt. Despite negative opinions from a few folks on this forum regarding the G5 Montec, I used what I had on hand. I spent a lot of time sharpening them, using diamond film of various grits for final honing. No matter the effort, they would barely shave hair off the back of my hand. I made a good top of the heart, pass through shot on a 5x5 bull. There was a scant blood trail for less than 100 yards...then nothing. I did find the bull...nearly 1/2 mile away after 14 hours of searching. By some miracle, most of the meat was still good. I will not use those broadheads again. I see the Slick Trick Griz Trick 4-blade for sale on Camofire quite often....are they any good? https://www.americanhunter.org/articles/2018/12/31/are-the-latest-broadheads-too-dull/?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=insider&utm_campaign=0119

We used to hunt javelina a lot near Oracle. Lots of cattle. Found javelina around them many times. One particular long weekend hunting them, we would laugh and say "better glass that herd of cows" because we were finding pigs feeding with the cows so often. It made it more difficult to sneak in, as the cows were kind of jumpy and would alert the pigs. We would have to wait for cows to move from behind a pig to get a shot. It seemed the pigs were using the cows as lookouts. Last weekend, in a heavily hunted area, I saw a good sized herd of pigs feeding on the south slope, in the sun, in typical pig fashion. I helped a younger hunter, I just met, get in on them. He was able to get two shots, but missed. It was fun to watch through the binos. I didn't even apply for pig this here. I haven't been that excited about dealing with a dead, stinky pig for a few years now. I've often thought it would be a blast to hunt them with a paintball gun. 😁
