    New Hunter Success...24b

Congratulations Brady! I didn't fill my tag this time; but being there when you shot your first deer made this a hunt to remember for me. I really enjoyed every moment. (applying for tags, getting drawn, talking strategy, range time, scouting, getting up in the wee hours, long days in the field, hiking, glassing, being patient and quiet during the several hour stalk, knowing your shooting abilities, perseverance, making an awesome off hand shot at about 200 yards, 1st time field dressing a deer, etc..... ) A lot goes into every hunt and a lot of memories are made along the way. Way to go and a great first buck!!!!!

PLEASE HELP - LOST BINOCULARS !!!!!!!

While searching various websites for my missing binoculars, I came across the attached Craigslist posting from Northern Arizona. I called the poster because his add said he contacted Swarovski for assistance with his lost binos. We got to talking and I told him about my situation and this post on CWT. He asked me if I would help him out by letting the CWT audience know about his lost binos as well. I told him I would, so please check out the attached Craigslist link. Thanks. http://flagstaff.craigslist.org/spo/2786229051.html

    2011 Rifle Elk

Here's a picture of my 2011 bull elk taken in Unit 4A. I shot him on the 2nd day of the hunt and glad I didn't pass him up. He's not the biggest bull; but I was up there for the whole week and he's the only bull I saw. I think our group only saw 3 or 4 bulls total. We saw several cows, but not many bulls. I was surprised because this particular area holds a ton of em' during the archery hunt. Nonetheless, it was a good time spent hunting with my brother and friends. BTW, I highly recommend the Havalon Piranta. Skinned and quartered the entire elk with ease, using just one blade. Well actually, the blade broke with just five inches to go on the final cut. Awesome knives!

PLEASE HELP - LOST BINOCULARS !!!!!!!

i've been bowhunting 24b and 22 this month and 24b lately, i was in the woodbury, rogers trough area, but if you don't post the general area where you were is going to be hard to find. Yeah, I understand what you are saying about being more specific on the location....I was just hoping they would be found and turned in, as opposed to someone going out to strictly look for them. I know there's a lot of good people out there that would do the right thing, but this is a popular area with a lot of traffic. So being more specific at this time could either help me or hurt me. Maybe after the season I'll elaborate on the area. Thanks again for reading!

PLEASE HELP - LOST BINOCULARS !!!!!!!

Well I went back out yesterday and searched again, but no luck. I was in a fairly popular area (hunting, hiking, off-raoding, horseback riding) and think they were picked up already. Can anyone recommend some other forums for me to check or put a post on in reference to hiking, off-roading or horseback riding. Also, I will give the finder a cash reward; no questions asked. If the finder tells me he/she read my plea for help on this site, I will match that amount with a donation to Cousewhitetail.com. Thanks for reading!

I'd rather not post the location yet. I plan on going back out to take another look. Thanks for reading the post.

    24B Mule Deer

I hunted every day since the opening day; saw a ton of does and only three 2x2 bucks. The big bucks were definitely there last archery season and during scouting trips; but not during the hunt. So..... if any one had a successful 24B Mule Deer hunt please post some pictures so I can remember what a buck looks like. Thanks and congratulations to those of you that filled your tag.

    Safes

FYI............I noticed your avatar says you are from Gilbert. I wanted to bolt my safe down as well; but was told the majority of homes in Gilbert were built on "post retention" slabs because of the soil in the area. I don't know much about that type of construction, but was told there are cables running through the slab that are under tension. The delivery person didn't feel comfortable bolting the safe down because the drill might hit one of the cables; causing the slab to crack or heave. Don't know if this is true or not but thats what I was told.

    What to Do?

I'm not claiming to be an expert on bear hunting, but this is what I have seen and what I've heard from others. If the prickly pear are ripe, glass there first thing in the AM. You only have a couple hours to glass 'em in the morning and even less time in the evening. Since it is so hot out, they tend to bed down or go into the real thick stuff by 9am or so and don't come out till 5pm or so. Normally I wouldn't recommend "blind calling", but if glassing doesn't work and you've seen bear in that area before...... try a predator call. Be ready for some action if one is close by. Seriously ......BE READY!!!! I called in several bears with a simple $10 call. Set up outside of that thick scrub and oak where you have good visibility and shooting lanes. You may get lucky and pull one out of there. If nothing, move on to another spot and start over with glassing. The bears I've seen stick out like a soar thumb through the binos, especially when they are headed to the thick stuff from the prickly pear. Good luck!

    Springfield Armory scope $250

I bought this scope new in 2003, put it on an AR-15 and shot about 100 rounds. I took it off the AR because the fixed front sight post obstructed the view. Scope has been sitting since then. Comes with Butler Creek scope covers and Burris scope rings. Asking $250. Thanks for looking.

    2008 Coues...finally on the wall!

Mount looks good. You are on your way to running out of wall space. THATS A GOOD THING! Looking at those mounts brings back the memory of the hunt (from getting the tag in the mail to putting it on the wall). Congratulations!
