Luck definitely helps but with some strategy behind your first and second choice you can greatly increase your chance of pulling tags. It also helps to not put in for early rifle bull or unit 9/10 archery

That was my first choice with 5 points! I didnt get it! You really beat the odds! Good luck on your hunt! How did your other 2 hunts go? I had the early cow hunt in 5B-S in '11 and '12 and filled both including my first elk, I got into archery deer last season and decided to wait it out a few years for an archery bull tag in the rut! Dad drew the early cow for 5bs again this year with a few of his buddies so its gonna be a fun few weeks come sept/oct

Wow I feel extremely lucky, we drew 5B-S archery bull this year with only 1 combined bonus point!! I was ready to wait four or five years to draw a bull tag but now for the third year in a row I get to hunt elk in 5B south

I was fortunate to draw the antlerless hunt 4 times while I was a junior and I can say every hunt was a blast, its a great hunt for getting kids interested in big game hunting.

A watched pot never boils! Results should be out by wednesday.

My last two elk were killed with my .270, both ran less than 15 yards.

There are mulies down low year round, I just finished 2 weekends up in 19A and from what we were seeing, the deer (bucks more than does) are bedding down early often before sunrise. Not sure if it was the moon or just the mild weather but they sure weren't moving much during the daylight hours.

+1 Unit 8 is solid for good sized coues
